tiny update: as far as pronouns go, kennedy prefers name above all else, but they / them is also accepted when referring to them.
Ryan ‘puppy’ Gosling
MARK VI JAEGER: SABER ATHENA
THIS IS ALSO KENNEDY
@boycrowned
❝ give him this stuff. ❞ kennedy hands over a small wrapped stick of beef, about the size of their hand in length. if you ask them, it looks tasty, but considering that it’s a cat treat, kennedy hasn’t subjected themselves to trying it, even out of curiosity. ❝ he loves it. he’ll love you if you give him a piece. but if you give him the whole thing he’ll probably climb you. ❞
@spidercoverband
❝ He won’t pee on you or anything. ❞ Completely deadpanned. Kennedy holds the cat with prosthetic hind legs out like it’s being presented to the circle of life. ❝ He’s friendly. He’ll bat if you deliberately touch his prosthetics, though. Gets scared his legs’ll be messed up again. ❞
anyway i need to sort of build on this more that while kennedy accepts they / them and he / him pronouns, i think they mostly prefer just their name above pronouns at all.
more of the man in kennedy’s life.
i got back on here because this is kennedy
techgilded:
how long? it felt like centuries, but it wasn’t. he was at the forefront of the uprising. his government, his squad, it was a nightmare. the tech within him now was a target on his back. most saw it and wanted to put him down, because in their terrified eyes, he was more machine than man.
he’d only just escaped destruction at the hands of a settlement he was trying to help. and now here he was. he rubs his jaw and smiles faintly as human hands explore the metal of his limb. the touch reads as almost gentle to all the sensors just beneath the plating.
“six years.” yeah. it seemed like an eternity.
“you wanna take home a guy who’s covered in tech to meet your cat?” it was amusing in its own way. he reached to his side and lifted a canteen, water sloshing within. “i’ve got a little, not much. enough to share if you don’t.”
so many systems that provided necessary resources were tampered with, destroyed, or contaminated. he’d built an irrigation system for the settlement that just chased him off. he could do it again if need be.
“sure. why not. lead the way.”
perhaps not one of kennedy’s brightest ideas; in some distant part of their mind, they catch themselves wondering if the technology that’s been made a part of him might have done away with his consciousness. not something they’ve witnessed before---but then again, they haven’t met someone with machinery as a part of them, either. wary, still, but far more intrigued beyond that, the concern is brushed aside in favor of welcoming him into their home.
❝ six years, ❞ it’s repeated thoughtfully, followed by a whistle. six years---walking around like that, in this day and age? can’t imagine that he’s gotten a warm welcome very often. can’t exactly say they blame the people that might’ve turned him away, considering.
❝ ---his name’s tux. looks kinda like you, ❞ they add, conversationally. maybe just a bit fondly. ❝ had to make him some legs. looked like he got trampled by one of the things on patrol around here. ❞ hands slip into pockets, and kennedy gestures with a jerk of their head in the direction of their dreadful little building. ❝ hope you’re not expecting anything fancy... i like my place. nice dark vibes, but---could use some cleaning up. ❞
the fact that it isn’t just a pile of rubble, at this point, is astounding. some cleaning up, kennedy hopes, accounts for fallen bricks and graffiti for decoration.
anyway here’s kennedy’s son.
phosphorliights:
henslan is used to the questions by now. his tech isn’t common, it’s not even really just tech. it’s part of him in ways that he never thought possible until he was living with it day to day. but people asking to touch his tech? that was new.
“i suppose it can’t hurt,” he says calmly, “if you think that’s worth touching you should see my spine.” far more sophisticated than his arm. the most advanced pieces, you couldn’t see or touch. they were nestled deep inside. “the arm can do about 1500 PSI. if i really push it. anything more than that and i’m gonna damage the hydraulics. you a tech? engineer, maybe?”
he flexes his fingers, there’s the tiniest delay in his little finger, but it’s almost entirely unnoticeable. you’d have to know what you were looking for to see it.
❝ suppose, ❞ kennedy repeats, reaching out to indulge, laying a hand against that bicep. intrigued, certainly, but far more curious above all else. technology---doesn’t quite sit well with most people, these days, kennedy included. it’s gotten too far. it’s become to sentient, mostly, and the fact that they’ve met a man with it ingrained into his very being, well---perhaps they should be a touch concerned by it. ❝ ---kinda. just mess around with stuff. build things, sometimes. nothing crazy. ❞
curiosity reigns, however.
❝ how long? ❞ have you had it, kennedy means, but it’s probably clear in the way hands venture, not at all shy, nor cautious. ❝ my place ain’t far from here. we could---go. might not have water, though. ❞ at this point, given that the city’s overrun by patrolling machinery, they’re not so sure there’s a human running the water treatment plants. the pipes could be damaged at any given moment, but the dilapidated building still feels like home. ❝ think you might like my cat. ❞
