Being scared wasn't really Jason's thing -- if something popped out at him, there was a very good chance that he was going to deck it across the jaw or do something he would regret. But in all honesty, how bad could miniature golf be, really? Especially given the amount of kids that were queueing up to pay and get a club and ball to work their way through the course. "Want to partner up?" he asked as he stopped behind the person in front of him in line, offering a quick smile, "mini golf is a lot more fun if you can make it competitive. Fair warning, though, I will laugh at you if you pee your pants."
While Gabby could enjoy watching others get scared for the fun of it, but she wasn’t one to voluntarily put herself in those scenarios. Spending a few hours playing by yourself could be fun, though hearing a familiar voice behind her in line Gabriela struggled to fight the joy that she felt l. “Absolutely!” She beamed, wondering if Jace knew that it had been her or not — regardless, it didn’t really matter. “You may be surprised to hear it, but I’m quite the pro when it comes to mini golf.” And she wouldn’t blame him if by chance (hopefully one that wouldn’t happen) she did get a small fright and let out a little tinkle. She’d be mortified, but likely would laugh at herself, too.

”How are you feeling now the weathers slowly starting to turn?” Gabriela asked mid stride. She and Jake had taken up wondering around town more often than not over the summer, enjoying the sunshine and the warmth that emanated from its rays. “I’m kind of excited, in the sense that there will likely be more woodfire activity.” Nothing quite beat that heat when the nights were cold, and she’d yet to put in one on her little apartment balcony — one she was wondering if she was outgrowing. “How’s little Mateo going?”
"This is your way of telling me that you don't like to live life on the edge?" he asked with a laugh, looking over at Gabby, "that you're afraid of the ice dream dripping out of the bottom of the cone? For shame." But he could understand it. No one really wanted to end up with a cold, wet, sticky hand from all of their sweet treat melting right out from under them. It was kind of gross. But they made their way to the booth with dreams of ice cream, Jason let out a deep, dramatic sigh when she said that they needed to have their poses ready, dropping into the seat and patting the spot next to him. "Alright, three photos. Get over here and get comfy, I've got to think about how great or horrible I want to look in these photos."
“Well, to be fair…” Gabby began, tongue darting out to dampen her suddenly dry lips. “I never said that I did, but I guess I have come to like some excitement every now and then.” She mused, her tone steady but playful. “It’s every child’s worst nightmare, isn’t it?” That, or monsters under their beds, in their closets, waiting for dark to come. She fondly recalled her parents ridding her own room of such beasts once upon a time. Gabriela slid in beside Jason, a grin plumping her cheeks before sliding the half-curtain closed. “The pressures really on, now.” She laughed, hitting the button to begin the session and the machine began counting down. “You ready?”
“Hi!” Mandy chirped, turning over to face her a bit. Trying to figure out what to do and what to wear for the gala was a challenge, but one that she’d happily agree to. Could she get creative with some cute colors and make it fit during the gala? Maybe. “Purple really is a pretty. It’s the blue in the hue that makes it complementary to almost anything,” she said with a grin. “Although, I’ll take that as a sign that I just need to add more pink into my wardrobe and my life,”
Gabriela was certain no matter what Mandy decided upon, she’d look spectacular. “I’ll admit, mine is lacking pink, too. I’m much too comfortable in my neutrals.” Gabby smiled, shoulders shrugging somewhat. She supposed that just made an excuse to shop for newer garments to her hearts content. “Apart from this predicament, how have you been? How’s Stelly?”

"I'm not a betting man," Nicki said. (A lie) "But if I was I'd put good money on the chances someone is going to get seasick." He'd been hanging by the bar making nice with the bartenders and hoping his goodwill would secure him a free bottle of champagne. "Or go overboard after a few too many cocktails."
Gabriela’s jaw loosened at the others intrusive thoughts in shock, wishing that she could just avoid the conversation as a whole — but she didn’t want to be rude. “Uhm…” Gabby inhaled a sharp breath as she struggled to find a response. “I — It’s been a while, Nicholas. How are you?”

"Alright, look. Fake it till you make it right?" He told her, holding the camera up to capture a sunset memory to eventually post to the gram. Jake nearly dropped the phone off the docks edge when he went to fiddle with captions, "shit!" And when he laughed, tucking in to secure again, he grabbed Gabby's hand, did a twirl before boarding the boat — she really did look beautiful tonight, and it felt like a little ghost of the past meets present. And he knew she was anxous. "Say the word and we'll go. & Chips, grab a basket. Maybe get obliterated at Anchors — all that sounds good too."
Gabby had a feeling that there wouldn’t be too many photo opportunities as the night went on, so of course she would leap at the chance before things got more wild, with so many things to see and people to mingle with. But she was nervous — scarcely had she stepped afoot any water vessels in the last decade, despite living so close to the coast. Once upon a time, she’d enjoyed going for a sail. These days… it had her nervous system on overdrive. “Are you good?” Gabriela questioned, smile dropping for a moment as she searched his features for reassurance of any kind. Thankfully, his reflexes were on par that evening, and the pair managed to secure that Insta worthy image to post at a later date. She couldn’t fight the sheepish laughter that bubbled in her chest as he gave her a twirl, making her forget where they were and what they were doing for the duration. “As tempting as that offer is, I really want to try to make this… work. We’ll have a good time, right?”
"Oh, right, okay," he said with a laugh, shaking his head, "so these are portraits that go on the wall next to the photos that we've taken with the kids through the years, I understand." He supposed in that regard, it was just fine for them to have some other photos to show off. That was what faux couples trying to live up to some sort of expectation did, wasn't it? "Oh, cone, absolutely," he didn't miss a beat ass he said it, shaking his head, "there's much less waste, since I can eat that. Can't really eat a cup." Well, not without getting any strange looks, anyway. And he supposed there were sometimes biodegradable cups, but. "Alright, let's get this picture taken, then."
Gabriela nodded with an almost smug grin. “Yes, that’s the plan.” She giggled, hazel hues bright with glee and then relief. Not that she’d hold it against him if he was a cup guy, but it was always nice to bond over the same preference with one’s friends. “Me, too! Drizzle the inside of the cone with chocolate before the soft serve, and you get an extra crunch with it.” She supposed it served as a barrier from the ice cream melting into the actual cone, but that was her go-to. Gabby was curious about whether Jace was a classic vanilla kind of guy, too, or if he liked something different. She’d find that out soon enough. Giving his arm a squeeze, the brunette lead the older man to the booth before stepping inside. “Three, actually. Best have your favourite poses at the ready!”

Mandy decided that she wanted to get a few things done, grocery shopping, picking up some shampoo. Maybe even fill up the refridgerator. And then she could work on putting together something for the gala that was coming up. She sipped on her smoothie and rocked on her heels as she looked at the display in front of her, pursing her lips in deep thought. "Important question. Pink or purple?"
It’d been what seemed like a lifetime ago since she’d set afoot a raft of any kind. Spending time at the beach and taking a dip in the waves was one thing, but going on a cruise? Well, it had her a little unnerved amidst her excitement for another fun evening in Merrock. But that also meant the appropriate attire, and Gabby was short of outfits that she hadn’t made an appearance in prior. “Oh — hi, Mandy! How are you? If I had to choose, I’d say purple. But your completion would look divine with pink!”
Glancing down as he felt an arm loop through his, he flicked his gaze to Gabby's face and found himself letting out a laugh, unable to help his response. "What, our wedding photos and family portraits aren't enough for you?" That had been the joke, once upon a time. Gabby and Jason and their happy marriage with their five -- six? Seven? Kids. He couldn't remember. "I think I can swing that. If you buy me ice cream afterwards."
“Correct!” She laughed, dipping her head as she felt a familiar flush creep up to her cheeks. It seemed like an entire other lifetime ago, that memory; even though it probably wasn’t more than a year in the past. A somewhat uncomfortable experience that Jason had been her knight in shining armour — or something along those lines, considering he practically mortified her in the best kind of way while doing so. “Besides, they’re mainly family portraits — none without the children.” She teased playfully. “That, I can accomodate. Are you a cone or a cup kind of guy?”

It didn't take her too long to find a friendly face among the crowd, caramel hues lighting up as they drifted to the now available photo booth to her right. Just as the thought came to mind, Gabriela approached Jace and loopedher arm through his with a smile. "Can I steal you? Out of all my friends, I don't think we have any photos together -- so this is my proposition. You, me, and the photo booth. What do you say?"

Where: Post Office
Jamie had been waiting in line at the post office. He had a few packages to drop off for belated birthday gifts and he was sure he had just picked the busiest time of the day to come in. Because it was just his luck that he'd be stuck at the post office for almost twenty minutes at three in the afternoon. His eyes shifted to the ground. "Oh, did you drop this?" he tapped the person nearby after picking up an envelope off the floor.
Gabriela had been in line planning to send off her younger sister a parcel (containing a painting for Kit's new apartment). Little to her knowledge, the slip to go along with it had fallen to the floor, only being brought to her attention from another patron. "Oh, thank you -- silly me.." she giggled softly, shifting her grip on the wrapped package gently before taking the envelope from Jamie. "How've you been, Jamie? How's your family?"

Did you enjoy the challenge? I thought it was a lot of fun and that I did pretty well. Just ready for the rest of summer now. We've got a lot of houses to sell and things to do.
Oh, I can imagine! I’m so excited! I feel like I’m going to take as much advantage of the weather as I can, and all the events and activities that are lined up to happen! I get to be the fun auntie, too, which is always great. I plan on winning Nat something at the carnival coming up.
I really want to enjoy summer, but I'm such a sweaty person it's always a nightmare. Linen is always great. I love a good seersucker, personally. It's a bit classier than regular cotton but still cool.
I’ll admit, I even need to take regular showers during summer. Feeling all clammy isn’t exactly the nicest, but we must make do! There’s too much beauty and fun to explore during the season. Seersucker? I can’t say I’ve heard of that — is it a cotton blend?
"Oh trust me, I had much better choices in mind, but every kid grows up dreaming of the day that they get to have their first beer," he said with a laugh. Most kids didn't grow up joking around about having a gin and tonic or a shot of tequila, but they sure thought that it was cool when they could drink root beer out of a bottle and pretend that it was an actual beer, instead. "You're not exactly making me feel very confident when you couldn't even last up there," he laughed, helping her up and to the side before blowing out a breath. "But, alright," nodding curtly, he hopped up to grab the first bar, drawing a breath in between his teeth as he swung out to grab the second bar, and then again to the third, grunting all the while, "Jesus, I need to get back in the gym."
“I can see it.” Gabriela mused, smiling gratefully as he assisted her up from the ground before resting her hands on her hips. “I remember taking the blame for sneaking my mom’s wine at night, when in reality it was my sister.” Even if it wasn’t ideal at the time, Gabby felt nothing but fondness reliving the memory. Teen antics were all apart of growing up. “Well, because the difference between our biceps are pretty sizeable.” The brunette teased, moving to raise her arm and flexing rather awkwardly. “I believe in you, Ryder! You’ve got this.” She cheered, palms coming together enthusiastically as he took off from one end of the monkey bars. “You’re not alone in that! I think I need to start up Pilates again.”
