Gabriel "Gabe" Alexander Cortez was born into a rather large family, consisting of seven children (including him), in Houston, Texas by Xiomara & Rafael Cortez. He grew up very close to his family barely wanting to leave home until he turned 20, and he dreamed of exploring more on his own and learn more about himself without his family, as much as he loved them.

His first stay away from home was in Los Angeles, California at 21 where he ended up getting into mixology and culinary, during his stay there. He modeled to make ends meet and caused a lot of body images issues during this time, being pushed to look a certain way. This causing Gabriel to fall into a state of depression and get into the night club life style drinking his problems away.

Despite it being a hard time for him in his early to mid-twenties, there was a sliver light as Gabriel did manage to find out something major about himself. He was bisexual. After first he blamed it on experimenting with drugs and all the drinking, but it became clear how he felt when he find himself attracted to both men and woman, this extending to trans men and woman as well.

while wiping down the bar, between orders before swinging the towel over his shoulder as the bar was approached. "drink, rant or both - what will it be today?" gabriel asked in a friendly voice with a welcoming and warm grin. he was always seeming like he was in a good mood at work, but really he was just a friendly guy. he wanted to make friends with everyone. even if work wasn't as easy one day, he'd brush it off as just a hard day for him or them.

——- One place to always find the blond was at a bookstore. he lived for reading and even wrote on his own time. from short stories to poems — it was just a nice way to escape from everything as austin grew up in a family full of exceptions. there was still so much love in the family, but it was a lot. they had to find their own comforts and for austin it was books and also music, but mostly books. so there he was — lost in the bookstore, browsing options, skimming some and just being lost in his favourite world, his personal comfort zone. ❝ there's always just such a comfort and relaxing moment at a place like this — wouldn't you agree ? ❞ he spoke to the person near him before glancing towards them and grinning some in a warm friendly manner. nothing made austin's day more than the bookstore and being surrounded by the smell of books. it always made his days feel bright in a sense. ❝ out of my own curiosity, what kinda books do you tend to like to read ? ❞ he asked in that thick posh british accented voice of his that probably would stay with him always.

gabriel knew exactly where to find austin, he knew him since they first met in town and connected at the bar he worked at. hitting it off right away and becoming friends, though he was also drawn to how beautiful austin was, but he didn't say a word. he kept it to himself for the time being at least. "yeah, a comfort, definitely." maybe he was half listening and just wanted to hear the other man speak and hear that british accent that pulled at his heart. placing back the book he was glancing at, before turning his attention fully to the blonde. "mostly just ones to learn more about my work and passion. though, you could share yours with me and i could check it out, if you'd like, of course." gabriel said before flashing a smile austin's way, as if he was trying to make this into something more. placing a hand on the book the other male was holding to keep his attention on him over the piece of literature. "you're such a book nerd, austin." he spoke in a low soft voice.
