“NO ONE IN PARTICULAR.” It’s a blatant lie, and for a moment she pauses, annoyance clear in her expression before she lets out a breath. “Alright, it’s HAN,” she admits with a roll of her eyes. “He keeps saying he’s going to leave — to pay off his debts. But he’s still here, talking about how he’s going to leave. If he’s going to leave, why doesn’t he just LEAVE already??”

At the mention of his name, a knowing sigh leaves Padmé’s lips, as she knows well of the tumultuous relationship between Han and her daughter. While she’s somewhat fond of the man, she's seen how he can tend to be, and doesn’t want to see her daughter hurt because of it. “Well...do you want him to leave?” Padmé thinks she knows the answer, but wants Leia to confront the issue herself. “If you do, you should tell him to go. But if you don’t...maybe you should tell him that, too...”

"yes ma’am–” the formality slips out against his own will, nodding quickly with each statement for confirmation. he could only imagine how shocked his grandmother must be knowing that her two INFANTS were grown and with one having a grown son herself. it certainly would be sensory overload for any normal person but she seemed to be well in control. “but anakin returned to the light.. he– h-he was redeemed when he passed. i’m not sure if that makes it any easier..” ben trails off, hands nervously wringing at the other until padmé is HUGGING him. it’s strange, really, as he hasn’t been HUGGED in such a long time. he stiffens immediately at the touch, only allowing himself to reject it for a second or two before strong arms are wrapping around the small woman in return.

“leia will be so excited to see you.. so much has happened since your..” death? coma? what could he even call it? he has no idea, really, so he instead ops for nuzzling his nose against her hair and holding her closer. family is something that means a lot to him ; being separated from his mother and father for so long was the most difficult thing he’s had to bear thus far. at least he has padmé now.

“...Returned to the light?” Padmé felt a sense of concern at the words, remembering how her husband had turned to the dark side just before she’d passed. She didn’t know how long he had stayed loyal to it, but part of her wondered if she truly even wanted to know. Who had he become, what had he done after her death? The possibilities worried her, and the few tears that had streamed from her cheeks were met with more as she fought back the sobs that came from her chest. “I’m happy he was redeemed...h-he always had goodness inside of him, no m-matter what...”

When it took a moment for him to react, Padmé wondered if she had overstepped herself too soon, but then he was hugging her back and a breathless smile formed on her lips. “I must find her, and Luke...” But then she felt him move his face against her hair, and she realized just how much she wanted to get to know Ben. Surely he was used to people talking about his parents, but she sensed loneliness in him, and wondered how often anyone took the time to learn about him. Pulling away gently, she smiled at her grandson, feeling so proud of him already. “I want to hear all about your life, Ben...what you like, what you do, where you grew up...all of it.”

“NOTHING. EVERYTHING. I don’t know.” Another frustrated sigh leaves her lips as her shoulders slump a little more. “Why can’t people just be STRAIGHTFORWARD and say what they mean? And not just…say things.”

Seeing her daughter so upset causes Padmé’s brow to crease into a frown, and she brings a hand to her back, running over it gently in an attempt to comfort her. “I wish I knew why,” She says with a sigh, shaking her head. “But it’s more common than you would think...Who is this about? Who said things that they...might not have meant?”

Padmé takes a seat across from her daughter, reaching for her hands gently. She knows when something is bothering Leia, and right now she clearly has something on her mind. “Tell me what you’re angry thinking about,” She spoke softly with encouragement. “Whatever it is, I want to listen.”

He exhaled a small almost laugh, “I…I feel like I’m dreaming.” Anakin confessed. “You’re here, you didn’t die in childbirth which changes so much…their perfect.” He sighed as he settled on the bed near her hips, his free hand still in hers. Anakin turned to his wife and smiled, “I was sure I’d lose you…it was all just like my mother.” He squeezed her hand, “I don’t want to leave you for a second. With the war over, with things, the way they are, I know what is important and I can’t lose you or our children. I have to speak with the council but, they can take my saber if they want.” He knew she’d tell him to fight for his ranking, he’d earned it, but he wouldn’t choose the jedi over her. They’d lived in secret too long. “Obi-Wan knows…if the Jedi are to remain things must change…” he smiled, “I’m sorry, I’m rambling…this was…I’m so glad we are here, together.” He lifted her hand to his lips and kissed her fingers. “I love you so much.”

“I told you that nightmare of yours was just that...a nightmare,” Padmé whispered to him in assurance, still shuddering at the memory of him telling her about what he’d dreamt that night that seemed so long ago. “I’m fine, Ani...I’m better than fine, this is the happiest day of my life.” Tears streamed from her cheeks as she listened to his adoring words, but she glanced up at him when he mentioned giving up his lightsaber, therefore his position on the Jedi council. “Do you know...what changes will be made?” She asked curiously, still not sure what exactly the conflict surrounding the Jedi had been. With her pregnancy, she’d been a bit out of the loop recently, but she hoped that Anakin could fill her in now about what she had missed. Even if all that truly mattered was that he was okay and happy and by her side. Then she realized that they wouldn’t have to hide their love anymore, and she reached up to pull him towards her, being careful with the babies as she did so. When he kissed her fingers, a happy sob escaped her, and she let out a soft giggle. “I love you too...so much...thank you for being here with me...”

“Look,” Tears ran down his cheeks, tears of joy for the first time since he’d seen those visions of her death, since he’d been so caught up in trying to save her. She was alive, she was here and so was he. “I’m here. I’m here Padmé.” The range of emotions he’d felt in the last few hours was almost too much to bear but she was okay. She was alive and he had held not one but two babies. Their children. A son and a daughter. He wanted nothing more for this to just be a happy moment. Obi-Wan had gone with him, he knew he’d have to face the council but confessing his relationship to Obi-Wan had lifted such a weight off his chest. He wanted to forget about the Chancellor and what he’d seen him become, how he’d had to help Master Windu, and most of all he wanted to forget how he’d almost fallen. The look on the Chancellor’s face as he’d begged Anakin to help him was still seared in his memory but god, all he wanted was to be here in this present moment. Anakin blinked back tears of happiness as he handed his wife their son and held his daughter in his arms while he laced his fingers with Padmé’s.

The past few days had been a whirlwind of emotions for Padmé, as she had sensed that something was off with her husband, as well as the stress and toll that giving birth to two babies had put on her body. She had been worried about Anakin, but also distracted by her symptoms and hormones, which had made the process even more emotional. But right now she was truly happy; how couldn’t she be? Her twin babies were here, her husband was here...it had all worked out, somehow. She still had many questions for Anakin, as she didn’t know what exactly had happened with him recently, but he seemed to be back to his normal, loving self, and that was what was important. She choked out happy sobs as she glanced up at him holding Luke in his arms; already she knew the two had a special connection. And then when they swapped children, and he looked at Leia with the same amazement, it only made her more emotional. “Oh, Ani...I still can’t believe it,” Padmé whispered in awe, staring down at Luke with an overwhelming amount of love in her eyes. She squeezed Anakin’s hand tightly before looking up at him again, relief and passion filling her. “I was so scared...I didn’t think we’d be able to get to this point...”

thank maker she looks just as SHOCKED as he does, and really, it makes him feel so much better. skywalkers tended to be OVER-REACTORS ; he’s quite positive his grandmother knows as such due to the unfortunate circumstances of anakin. ben is close to interrupting her to tell her the whole story but she speaks again, allowing the male ample time to try to gather his thoughts. he beckons to the FORCE to help him calm. “leia is my mother, actually.. um, uncle luke, just very recently has been discovered. he’s been.. HIDING for some reason and my mother, leia, has been looking for him for almost two decades. and luke was with anakin when anakin passed away. i believe uncle luke was twenty or so? but all that’s left is leia, luke, and—- myself… who.. you DON’T… know. —forgive me. i’m ben organa-solo. your grandson.”

“Leia is your mother...” Padmé repeats the words slowly, trying to gather this new information. Her baby daughter...now has a grown son... “Luke has been hiding for two decades?” She begins to put the pieces together to realize how old her children must be now, and it’s quite startling - surely neither of them would even recognize her if she were to find them. They don’t know her. But then he mentions Anakin’s passing, and finally it all becomes overwhelming, as tears begin to pool in her eyes. She might have figured her husband should have passed by now, but a part of her hoped that the force would have brought him back as well, so they could see their children together. But for the moment, Padmé pushes all of her questions and regrets aside and attempts to be grateful for the fact that she’s found one member of her family - one she didn’t even know existed. “My grandson...” Still in shock, but following her motherly instincts, she steps forward to wrap her arms around the young man, feeling the tears finally beginning to fall. “I can’t believe I...have a grandson...”

shock graces sharp features in a fashion that he cannot hide, a STUTTERED breath escaping his lips as step is taken backwards. he very nearly TUMBLES to the floor backwards though he hurriedly brings himself to his knees. she is still a senator of the highest ranking. she was once a QUEEN– she deserves the utmost respect. “i— i am ben solo. i’m.. your GRANDSON. how…– how are you alive?” he doesn’t mean to sound RUDE but the question is burning on the tip of his tongue.

The reaction that she receives from him worries her, as he almost seems frightened of her at first - Padmé has rarely had this sort of impression on anyone, but she gasps when he falls to his knees. Clearly her identity has rattled him somehow, and she wonders if he might have heard of her and her apparent legacy (though she isn’t quite sure of what legacy that is). But then he speaks, and her mouth falls open as she struggles to find any words to say. “G-Grandson..wha...” A palm comes to her forehead as she tries to gather what he is saying, almost unable to believe it. But where would he get that idea if it weren’t the truth? “I don’t...I’m not sure, a strange force has brought me back to life after so many years...I am still trying to figure out what has happened and look for my family, f-for...Luke and Leia...”

the woman looks FAMILIAR in a way he can’t exactly place, dark hues narrowing to try and focus- to place where the features had been seen before. she looked like his grandmother, a bit like his MOTHER even, but no, she COULDN’T be either of them.. she was far too YOUNG. his grandmother was DEAD and his mother was old. it was IMPOSSIBLE. “who..– who are YOU? ”

The man who had approached her had a certain something to him; normally Padmé would simply walk away from an unfamiliar presence coming up to her, but she couldn’t. Because his presence somehow wasn’t unfamiliar. It seemed he felt the same way, because he was staring at her as if he’d just seen a ghost. Perhaps he had, being that she had found herself alive again after so many years had passed, though it felt like no time had passed at all. So she exhaled sharply before answering cautiously. “I am...Padmé Amidala, senator of Naboo...and you?”

Amilyn took a breath, no one had answered any questions for her and she was indeed frazzled. “I honestly have no idea” she began, shaking her head and taking a step forward “I feel as if I have fallen into some form of alternate dimension, perhaps this is simply what happens when you collide with a ship during lightspeed? It sends you into a mix of the past and limbo. It would explain my youth” she said, touching her own cheeks and sighing out. “But I feel healthy” she added. “The healthiest I’ve felt in years.”

Padmé tilted her head in confusion at the woman’s explanation, not sure what she was referring to. Colliding with a ship at light-speed? That sounded deadly. Then it made more sense; this woman was likely back from the dead as well, and an undesirable death at that. She wondered whether it had been an accident or not, but didn’t want to directly ask, as it wasn’t the most polite question upon a first meeting. Her surprise at her youthful appearance only further confirmed Padmé’s suspicions, so she smiled kindly, wanting to make the transition as easy as possible. She knew she’d needed the same support when she’d first arrived back from death. “That’s good to hear. As long as you’re out here and not inside the quarantined area, you should be safe...” She wasn’t sure if the disease would spread any further, but she desperately hoped that it wouldn’t. “Well, I am Padmé Amidala, a senator here on Naboo. What is your name?”

it was a nice day out, so henri had decided to spend it outside. there was too much sickness hovering over the city, making it miserable, so the last thing he wanted to do was spend any time there. besides, the last thing he wanted was to get sick; if he was going to get off this rock in the future, then he had to be alive to do it. the woman sitting on the grass was gorgeous, looking more at home on naboo than anyone he had seen so far. maybe she wasn’t a part of this whole first order/resistance mess. “what are you doing?” he asked, tilting his head toward her data pad. “anything interesting?”

Padmé couldn’t help the stunned expression on her face as he questioned what she was doing; had he not heard of anything that was going on recently? If he was out and about it must have meant that he wasn’t infected, but still, surely he’d at least heard of the disease spreading and the people who were searching desperately for a cure, her being one of them. Still, she took a deep breath and decided to give him the benefit of the doubt. Perhaps he had just arrived, and hadn’t yet heard word of it. “I’m doing research,” Padmé replied matter-of-factly, glancing briefly back to the pages she had pulled up on her data pad. “Looking for a way to bring those in quarantine back to us as soon as possible.” She eyed him again carefully, still trying to read who he might be. “Have you not taken part in the investigations yourself?”

when he appeared here, it seemed as if naboo was normal. striking as always, yes, but normal. unfortunately, it took only the merest level of investigation, practically asking a few questions and threatening the right people, to pinpoint what exaclty was happening. a virus, which lando finds himself thankfully not infected with. he passed through the quarantine facility, though, and got a look at some of the symptoms.

nothing good, in short.

and lando is out for himself, yes, but when he hears some of the names floating around, he couldn’t help but turn his aims towards what was useful - that is, finding a possible cure.

which is how he finds himself sitting in a chair in the laboratory, ignoring all the vials around, and instead concerning himself with one of the computers. “all of you have realized this one’s been tampered with, right?” he offers, fingers tapping against keys idly. “and not by me - though i’m certainly doing my share of tampering now, i suppose.”

Padmé had been in the laboratory for a majority of the afternoon, comparing the information she’d gathered elsewhere on her data pad with some details she’d researched on the documents on one of the desktops. So far nothing was correlating, and it exhausted her, especially since she hadn’t eaten anything since that morning. Still, determination was always one of her best traits, and she pushed on, typing away and reading through various pages. She hadn’t even noticed who had come and gone in the room since she’d arrived, but hearing a voice addressing no one in particular, Padmé snapped her head around to look at who had spoken. She eyed the computer he was referencing, and reluctantly stepped away from her own to take a better look at it. “Tampered with? How so? What have you noticed about it that’s suspicious?”

Shocadi stifled a sigh. It wasn’t happening fast enough. Meanwhile, she was separated from her brother– her anchor. Her best friend. She kept a calm exterior, but he was the only one who knew how much she kept hidden from outsiders. “I hope so,” she murmured. “I don’t know how long the medics can keep the symptoms delayed.”

Padmé let out a helpless breath at her words, wishing desperately that there was some way that she could speed up the process. But it took time to investigate everything closely and with precision, and precision was exactly what was necessary to find a cure so specific to this one disease. “Have the symptoms become much worse? Has anyone...deteriorated significantly?”

Hours after Rose’s encounter with Rey, she felt ill. She knew this would happen. She knew it. Nothing could have prevented this, not the hands over her mouth. Not the distance she kept from Rey. It was airborne and she was probably infected the moment she came in close quarters to the girl. Rose was still angry at how stupid Rey had been. She didn’t know if she would be able to forgive her for this.

Before Rose checked herself in, she sent word to her friends where she would be if they noticed her no longer outside. After being thoroughly prodded at and examined by medics, she was sent into the quarantine. So this is where she would be now, Rose thought bitterly. Instead of outside helping search for the cure, she was stuck in quarantine because of an ill-thought out decision.

It seemed that Padmé was recognizing more faces behind the quarantined glass as the days went on, a reality that brought on an ache in her chest every time she returned to visit. Upon seeing Rose, the sweet young woman who Padmé had a few friendly conversations with, her gaze saddened, and she stepped slowly towards the glass. Although she had still been distant with her husband (another ache that she suffered from daily, though one she had grown more accustomed to), she had heard that he had been working with Rose to investigate a certain plant species, one that had a small effect on the symptoms of the disease, but not enough to make a difference just yet. But she’d been proud of their efforts nevertheless, and only hoped they would continue with success. However, with Rose now infected, those hopes had fallen. “Please let me know if there’s anything I can do for you,” Padmé spoke softly to the girl, her gaze warm and caring. “If there’s anything you and Anakin left unfinished...I can surely pass on information to him, or anything else you might need.”

as many times as she had told the girl to stay away, amalie could not help but inform rey on where the teams were searching for the cure. it was worth it, even if she had broken out of quarantine for it, and amalie had assumed she wouldn’t have caught the illness from a mere two-minute conversation. but alas, the coughs began in the dead of the night, and it only took her seconds to decide to dress herself in one of her simpler dresses and check herself into quarantine. that way, at least she could be with armitage, even if she was terrified for her child’s life. a glint of sweat layered on her skin now, but that was the extent of her symptoms so far. but it would only worsen, and amalie knew that, as she slowly entered the common area with a nervous bite of her lip. all she could do now was attempt to fight for her life for as long as she could.

Padmé did her best to make it a habit of returning to the visitation area of quarantine at least once a day, both to check in on her loved ones and to take note of any worsening or increasingly visible symptoms among the infected. To her relief, she hadn’t noticed any new faces that she hadn’t recognized from before, but on this particular day, she saw one that brought a certain sadness to her chest. The young Queen, the woman who Padmé emphasized with so much, standing behind the glass. First she had been imprisoned for so long with no rightfulness, and now she was here, apparently suffering from the disease that had reached so many others. Immediately Padmé made her way to the surface of the glass, bringing a hand out to touch it as she called for the Queen. “Amalie...”
