i love that when poe says “that droid has a map that leads straight to luke skywalker” finn says “oh you gotta be kidding me”, implying he knows exactly who luke is and that he’s important. i love that when finn mentions luke to rey she says “luke skywalker??? i thought he was a myth” implying she knows exactly who luke is and that he’s important. i love that luke skywalker is a legend, a myth, a celebrity. do you think he has fans
I like to think that not only is he famous but that because he’s so elusive he’s actually reached cryptid status in the star wars universe. people host parties when a new blurry photograph comes out, get into debates over whether he really exists or not, skywalker-sighting hotspots are full of tourists and conspiracy theorists wearing shirts with a lightsaber on that say ‘I want to believe’ in block capitals.
Paaerduag-The Symbiotic Duo
Paaerduags are an odd species rarely documented throughout STAR WARS. The creature consists of two conjoined bodies: a large, mottled brown body who controls movement, and a smaller, green body in charge of communicating with other species. Hailing from the planet Storjus (as it is called in Galactic Basic), the creature’s real name and origin cannot be pronounced, or even heard, by most other lifeforms. This is because it takes two mouths to pronounce it’s name, and two ears to hear it. This is why it is only the green body that speaks to others, as the frequency in which the brown body speaks cannot be heard by most other lifeforms. The two sentient components are actually born separately, merging and becoming one being as it matures.
There have only been three documented appearances of Paaerduag throughout the STAR WARS saga.
The first of these is in the 2003 video game STAR WARS: Knights of the Old Republic. The player can find a displeased Paaerduag in Javya’s cantina who goes by the name of Ja’Gatcha. Stranded on the planet Taris due to a Sith quarantine, Ja’Gatcha had grown tired of the constant mocking he received from other lifeforms, a problem made much worse by the planet’s anti-alien stigma. A second Paaerduag, Mic'Tunan'Jus Orgu, could be found in Anchorhead, Tattooine. Unlike Ja’Gatcha, Mic'Tunan'Jus Orgu was no homesick, stranded traveller, but rather a merchant. Paaerduags were also mentioned in the game’s sequel, STAR WARS: The Old Republic (2011), but never made a physical appearance.
In Joe Schreiber’s novel, Death Troopers (2009), the book’s protagonist spots a creature that is speculated to be a Paaerduag. The creature is described as having two bodies, the larger of the two cradling the deceased smaller portion of it’s body. The creature’s species is not mentioned, though some speculate it to be a Paaerduag. This is further backed up by Wookieepedia citing Death Troopers under ‘Appearances’ on it’s Paaerduag page, though I cannot find an official statement on the matter.
This is the greatest progression of events I have ever read, where’s my historical gay romance novel about this
KING JAMES, CAN YOU CHILL?
Local King Cannot Stop Promoting His Boyfriend
where’s the lush period drama about this series of events?
fun thing about king James, this guy was fairly public about his bf (more public than what was acceptable). He threw lots of extravagant parties with his man on his arm. It pissed off the church obviously so to get them off his back, he’s the one that ordered the third translation of the Bible from Hebrew to English (the King James Version aka the Authorized Version) so the Bible every hot blooded all American Christian reads today was literally just written so a very gay king could fuck his boyfriend in peace.

Mucha has always been one of my fave artists–his style is just so beautiful and captivating, I hope the inspiration shows through in this piece ;u; <333 I plan to have a Noctis version to go with this one in the future <3

All right, all right! Female Twi'leks have way fewer redesigns through the years and in media, so I’ve drawn the two main and most important ones: the original design from Return of the Jedi and the new design we got in the Prequels. I’m going to cover only movie- and cartoon-Twi'leks in the illustration and will leave my small headcanon at the very end.
Additional notes:
RotJ: It’s…bulky. It’s pretty obviously a big soft-ish hat that someone’s wearing, so there’s a significant amount of room between the actor’s head and the alien’s head. It has a really odd appearance if you take the head-dress away. That said, they do have a cone-head, and they might have a light crest, but given that their head-dress covers that portion entirely, it may or may not be there. The lekku are seated high slightly above and behind the ears – this position is pretty consistent with all female Twi'lek designs. The lekku, themselves, are large, or “fatty”, at the base, and then taper from there. They also point outwards a bit, which makes them extend significantly past the sides of the head.
Prequels and Beyond: In the prequel trilogy we got Aayla Secura, Ayy Vida, Lunae Minx, and a handful of other female Twi'leks. The cone-head is still there but instead of extending vertically, it extends more towards the back of the head; from a head-on view, we don’t see the cone-head at all. They do have a light but pretty defined crest, which I’ll link to Aayla from the film, from the Clone Wars cartoon, and a painting (NSFW link). The lekku are seated high, just as the “classic” one, but they are way more streamlined, don’t have a fatty base, and grow more back than to the sides.
KOTOR: These follow the Prequel design but simplify the shape a little. They still have a cone-head but are missing the crest from what I can tell. It likely would’ve been difficult to read given their graphics.
SWTOR: These look similar to the prequels but are missing the cone head and crest. Also, BT1 (“body type”) Twi'leks’ lekku sit on the regular high position, while BT2-4 sit at a more medium level, similar to the males.
TCW & Rebels: TCW only really sculpted Aayla Secura to have a defined head-shape (crest & cone), and also defined lekku. The other Twi'leks in this show have pretty thick lekku but not any defined base. Suu Lawquane in particular has very fatty lekku that are pulled back via a head-dress, and compared to other examples have the least defined shape to them. The female Twi'leks in Rebels have similar lekku to the ones in TCW, but they also grow out away from the head a good distance before draping down.
Darth Talon: It purely depends on who’s drawing her, but a lot of images of her from comics have her lekku sprouting right out of the top of her head, defying gravity entirely. I’d personally call that a total exemption to the typical design since I don’t recall seeing any other Twi'leks that look like that.
Lastly, my head-canon. Feel free to ignore this part because it’s not canon whatsoever! It’s my theory that female Twi'leks are capable of possessing much more defined crests, larger cone-heads, and even sporting fatty deposits on their foreheads – it could be genetic, hormonal, or environmental, but there is a fair amount of art from the former EU (aka “Legends”), that has female Twi'leks with this appearance.

#also - in Rebelsa the two twi'el women we’ve seen (Hera and Numa - so many right?)#have radically different lekku#hera’s sit high and wid e#angled out from the pinnacle of her crown#whereas Numa’s sit very low - the root is just BELOW the crown of her head - and much closer together#though they are also angled wide#but the effect is different#Hera is framed by her lekku whilst numa’s lie flat behind her shoulder#you could argue that this is a result of the caps that they wear directing their lekku#but - yeah no#I’ve made flightcaps for both and agonised over positioning and angle#hera’s lekku would never fit into Numa’s basecap#they are both wildly different shapes#I hope we get to see other twi'lek women in this last season#and see if they actually intend this to be a feature - different lekku shape like different body shapes#or if it was rooted strictly in keeping the two women looking very different in silhouette
@xenadd Thanks for the additional comments! I didn’t pay a whole lot of attention to Rebels design because I’m personally not very fond of it so I forgot how Numa’s looked there, not realising they were so different. I just looked her up and they seem to be very similar to Suu Lawquane’s, which are also radically different from the other background Twi’lek characters in TCW.
As mentioned, they’re pulled back and behind the head; Numa’s do drape lower, though.
Fair enough, there are twi’leks for all! I’ve made Hera and I’m in the middle of making Numa, so I spend a looooot of time staring at their lekku trying to nail the silhouettes.
Lengthwise - Hera’s hit her waist bang-on whereas Numa’s are mid-bum (this is a very technical term). However, Hera’s are much curvier with the empahtic arch at the top whilst Numa’s are very straight, so if they were straightened/stretched out they would probably be about the same length.
Numa’s are similar to Suu’s in that they hang straight behind her, but they still sit much lower than that as Suu follows the TCW high-sitting style within her individual silhouette.
Yo, I love your cosplay! Also reblogging for more info on the Rebels Twi'leks :)
It’s like we’re in a golden age of lekku discussion.
why are people on this website so fucking weird and rude
