12th July 2018 - Glastonbury Sit in With Esus It was in a pure chance meeting in Glastonbury, with a lady called Mookita, that the decision to carve the world's first Bluestone skull was taken. I had considered the idea before, but dismissed it for fear of attracting negative connotations to a positive philosophy. However, Mookita changed my mind when she informed me that many people who kept crystal skulls were also very well up on spirituality, philosophy and metaphysics, all important elements of the Preseli Consciousness, and that... ...those who would perceive it as a 'dark' would be very few in number. She said it would raise awareness of Preseli Consciousness. She was right, and so Esus was duly liberated.

Galonglas and the practical side of the Preseli Consciousness have come a long way since 2012, thanks to the help of many people. A little video here to celebrate :)

Here is a nice little pic of a dipper, as spotted by Theresa in the river at Galonlas - (while Picton and David were busy opening up our ancient leat, to increase water flow into the wildlife pond).

From the number of sightings it appears to be a resident and probably feeds on the plentiful freshwater shrimps that are present all year round.

We have a tremendous variety of birds, wildlife and rare plants, and the list of identified species seems to be growing all the time. Shortage of photos though, so keep your cameras to the ready guys ;)

Snakes and Lizzards

While sorting out the compost today we spied a snake and a lizzard.

Unfortunately the snake slithered off all too quickly, (across Blue's hand) but the lizard was good enough to wait around for David to take his picture.

The biggest snake yet was seen by the pond and it was way bigger than they are supposed to grow! Water snakes and grass snakes are the same species, but those we see swimming in the pond, or traveling through the boggy areas, seem to be much larger than those spotted in the grass.

Custodian Visits Galonglas

Custodian of the Preseli Consciousness Stuart Tennant visited Galonglas recently, to assist with repairs to damage caused by an uninvited heard of cows. Here is a collection of images which capture some of the things that he got up to. Cheers Stuart.

One of Stuart's first missions was to grab a photo shoot with Esus :)

Here Stuart is working as 'Slinger' for Picton who has come over to move the Lundy Island Altar Stone along the river towards it's eventual site in the Galonglas Stone Circle. — with Stuart Tennant at Galonglas.

Thanks go to Sherrill and Donny for organising accommodation, food and a coastal walk for Stuart's last day in Pembrokeshire. Here we see our first glimpse of the descent into Barafundle Bay.

The walk back was just as lovely, passing a great variety of wildlife, plants and trees. We didn't quite make it to Saint Govan's Cave as we had hoped, but I am sure that we will next year ;)

Say NO to Fracking!

We'll do our very best to include all of the recordings in the intro of the song. Some of them will be selected to play individually, and will be very easy to pick out from the crowd. Who knows, you could become famous! The Studio is already operating in a portable capacity, and will be completely solar powered when it is installed in the new Lodge, soon after it goes up in April of this year.

Winter Bonfire News - Coelcerth y Calan Gaeaf

This year’s Galonglas Coelcerth Celebration on the solstice 21st Dec.

Pumpkin Curry, wild berry mead and other delights at 4pm, followed by The Wicker Man ceremony and then marshmallows and fireworks for the little ones. All welcome to arrive earlier if you want to have a look around before dark. Eric will be down there from about 2:30. Bring your wellies as it is a bit wet in places at the moment.

Otter Holt Construction Underway

Otters displaced by intensive agricultural practices are finding it increasingly difficult to survive, but we at Galonglas are working hard to save them, locally at least, by offering them refuge at our animal friendly permaculture project.

Thanks also go Jacqui at Rosemoor Country Cottages and Nature Reserve, for the small drainage pipe used to drain the floors of the holts. Thanks too for the large twinwall pipe provided by Matt from Redberth, perfect for constructing access, and not forgetting our regular supporter Picton, for all his wisdom and practical help with this and other projects. Cheers guys :)

Visiting otters have already been along to inspect the proceedings. Here you can just about make out the claw marks left by one very light footed animal.

Here you can see a small and very weathered lump of spotted dolerite, with the outer crust sheered off by the pick axe during excavation. This is the second piece of Bluestone found in this particular spot, obviously brought here a very long time ago for some currently unknown reason.

Trench dug across the roadway and main access pipe from the river installed. Drainage into the river flows under the access pipe, giving the otters a chance to dry off before entering the holt chambers.

Access installed and everything back to normal. Cheers guys :)

What a great Bee Day!

Thanks to all who came over for the impromptu Bee Day. What a fab time:)

The most popular activity with the little ones seems to be using the compost-toilet! and they all know how to use it!! How cool is that :)

Surprise Mushrooms in the Woods

A quick look underneath a small one that accidentally got dislodged.

Interesting to note that these appeared in two areas where some morel compost had been buried a couple of months earlier. Wonder if the morels will still appear in spring?

Honey Day at Galonglas

Honey Day was a great success.Everybody wanted to learn about the bees. What a fab Job. Thanks Eric and Julie :)

Young geologist Marshall shows us the amazing fossil that he found at Galonglas!

As yet an unidentified fossil, but it looks distinctly fishy! Does anybody recognise it?

Bruce was the first to test the Galonglas Grog!

Seems that it was a good brew :)

Meanwhile, Rachael fixes the windows and lays a nice soft floor in the playhouse. Thanks Rach and Becca too. They have done a good job :)

Transport of Bluestones and Lundy Altar Stone

More stones arrive at Galonglas in preparation for the stone circle.

Work started early on Sunday morning collecting six larges Bluestones. Gordon Watson, who is seen here in the foreground, handled the job at the Preseli end, and pictured with him is Lee from Lancs, who came down to help. Cheers guys, much appreciated :)

Of course, every project needs a foreman to oversee the work ;)

Job done. Seven stones delivered to site and Lee inspects the Lundy Altar Stone.

Euro-friends Visit

Stuart and Blue were very pleased to greet Veronica and Frits on the Welsh leg of their visit to Britain.

Here they are investigating the stones of Pentre Ifan.

Veronica is introduced her little Caldey Skull, carved by Blue, en-route to Caldey Island!

Spring tides are always a fun time to visit Caldey, if only because you get a chance of a trip on the amphibious vehicle :)

Frits was so pleased to find himself aboard the amphibian landing craft that he found it impossible to sit down during his ride ashore:)

Here is Veronica comfortably seated at at the sign post of Gors Fawr, tuning in to the energy of the Preseli Consciousness, with a little help from Esus :)
