First, I am so sorry there has been no posts for a while. December was really busy and January has been really depressing. But, enough about that, lets get on with it.
So, a game that I am really super excited about is Portal 2!
As usual it is developed by Valve Corporation and released by Electronic Arts sometime during 2011. EA is known to be releasing good games they had absolutely nothing to do with developing. Portal 2 will run on Xbox360, Playstation 3, PC and Mac. So, most people will have a chance to enjoy the game.
The plot is the same as in the first one, kind of. You will be solving puzzles and labyrinths using your super fancy portal gun. It is a portal gun, you can figure out that you make portals with it right? The scene will be as in the first one, Aperture Science Enrichment Center, which is awesome because it is a really weird place.
This time you will be able to move air (pneumatic pressure) through your portals, and will be required to do at some parts of the game. You will also be introduced to a "gel". A Flubber like substance you might say. The gel will have to be transported at times and applied to surfaces and objects and so on. There will be two uses from this. Propulsion that will give you speed and repulsion that will give you higher jumps. New cubes are something interesting too. Not just another companion cube, which you killed in the first game, you bastard. A "storage cube" and a "redirection cube". I think their name says most of what they will be used for. Other new things include: Thermal Discouragement Laser Beams, Aerial Faith Plates, Spherical Weighted Storage Balls and Hard Light Bridges that can be redirected with the use of portals.
But, the feature that I am most excited about is the two player CO-OP mode. This will be a separate campaign that will be more challenging than the single player campaign. So, you will be able to play through the game in both modes without repeating what you already have played. Valve also says that both of the campaigns will be about twice as long as the first portal game. Good times!
Portal 2 takes place a couple of hundred years after the first game. And you will be playing Chell in the single player mode. Who was placed in a stasis after being dragged away by that unknown figure with the robotic voice in the ending of the first game. You know, that figure that we never got to see... yeah, I don't remember either. I just remember the epic song playing during the credits. But since some time has passed the Aperture Science Enrichment Center will be a bit overrun with vegetation at some places. This will give a bit more life to the game than just flat white walls and monotonic robot voices did.
In the much anticipated two player mode you will see a new couple. Their name is Atlas & P-body. They are a turret gun and a modified personality core. How awesome isn't that? Just look at them! According to Valve they will make "expressive noises" when talking to each other. Not sure what that means, but I am sure as hell looking forward to finding it out. And you and your friend who you choose to play with will be having one portal gun each. Twice the portals, twice the difficulty and loads of more fun.
As I said, I am really looking forward to this game. And I wonder... will there be cake?
