Sony have unveiled the newest features coming to PlayStation 4 in the new software 5.50 update. The update is currently only available to beta testers as of last week, the update will be rolling out to the public in the coming weeks.
So what’s included in this new update?
Super Sampling Mode (PS4 Pro Only)
For PS4 Pro owners who don’t own a 4K TV, a new super sampling mode is being added under [Video Output Settings] Supersampling if you are unaware, essentially renders the game at a higher resolution then down scales the image to match your TV’s resolution so that you get a clearer looking image on a regular HDTV for example.
Play Time Management
Parents & guardians are getting a much loved feature, the new playtime management options allow users with sub accounts to set play time limits and will also notify how much time users have left before the time expires.
External USB Support Update
External USB support is being extended in this update, allowing users to import & save image files onto the PS4 system which for many users means custom backgrounds for the PS4 home UI.
Games Library Cleanup
The Library is getting some much needed attention in this update, first notable change is the addition of some new sub-titles that will list any applications or games that are “not installed” or “installed” on your PS4 system.
A new general housekeeping option has also been added in this update for the library, pressing options on any item allows players to hide unwanted items such as old game demos or Apps that are no longer in use.
Notifications
At long last, players will now be able to delete old notifications from the notifications menu. You can delete individual notifications or delete all by pressing options from the notification menu.
That’s version 5.50 so far, Sony may still have new features to add before final public release but only time will tell. what new features are you guys looking forward to?
