This is for the ninjago movie btw not the TV series.

I like to think he got it when he stood up for Lloyd when the bullying got out of hand one time.

I think I'll do the comic how he precisely got it but I am not sure yet.

Also in my AU Kai starts to go to gym with Cole after this incident, so he will get more 'bulky' in the future that also means more lavashipping art dump for yall in da future 👀

coincidentally i think this has a similar concept to this one post I made a while back! where if elemental masters used their power to greater extents than they can manage, just for a moment, they feel at peace being engolfed by their element. think nya when she merged with the sea, but they can come back from that, and they dont really have a form other than visibly uncontrollable bursts of their elements. they get extremely exhausted and feel empty for moments afterwards, recalling only bits and pieces of what they did

he's surprisingly calm, even when being absolutely ruthless in battle. the ninja are the only ones he wouldnt harm in any capacity

as long as he's in this state, he doesnt seem to understand whatever they say to him, and will only snap out of it when he sees the ninja safe and no danger near
