@gastrogofuckyourself
me: hey can you make dopamine and serotonin
my brain:
me: hey can you make dopamine and serotonin
my brain:
me: wow why am i so tired all the time
also me: you're chronically ill
me: wow why am i so tired all the time
Healthy people need to realise that tired because you had a tough day at work or stayed up till 2 on instagram is very different from the fatigue caused by constant pain and chronic illness.
Hollywood’s Chronic Illness Obsession?
What is up with the fairly recent surge in movies about chronic illness? There was The Fault in Our Stars, Everything Everything, and now Midnight Sun.
Why are the chronically ill now an interesting topic for sympathetic pretty boys to fall in love with?
Why isn’t Hollywood interested in actually showing what life is like with a chronic illness (spoiler I don’t have tons of men fawning over me as I lay in bed withering in pain)?
And finally, why aren’t any of these characters played by disabled actors?
your 20's be like
me: nvm I'm totally nailing this adult thing
*new problem appears*
me: W H A T IN T H E F U C K
what happened to me was not poetic, it was fucking traumatizing and i’m going to spend the rest of my life recovering from it
It also wasn’t a “learning experience” either.
And it definitely didn’t ‘’happen for a reason’’ either.
me: I should do laundry
my brain: you should die
me: touché
not to be too millennial but
no money
no house
just avocado
And a few mental illnesses with student loans
me: I really!!!! want!!! people!!!! to help!!!! me with!!!! my problems!!!!!!!
brain: you have to tell people about your problems first.
me: disgusting. atrocious. completely repugnant. I have never heard anything so vile. get out of my sight immediately.
i like to get inspired and then not act on it and waste away in my bed
real talk having chronic disabilities isn’t even always about the pain of the disabilities it’s the world and your friends and family treating your discomfort and agony as an INCONVENIENCE to THEIR day and lifestyles. their empathy runs out real quick let me tell you.
The most recent thing I’ve heard: “If you were less depressed you probably wouldn’t have gotten cancer…”
