skype call → gavs
As the black screen faded away to show the more than familiar face, Madisen’s own lit up immediately, a small squeal not being able to be held back as a grin easily spread across her face. “Is that who I think it is? Am I actually lucky enough to be Skyping with the Gavin Callahan?” Despite everything going on in their personal lives and the new distance between the two of them, everything came naturally back to her as Gavin had appeared on screen- it was as if they had hardly spent a day apart. “I’m honored that you’ve actually have a few hours to spend with little ol’ me between the busy New Yorker life you lead again and your internship — not to mention all the ladies you must be entertaining.” And though she could see the exhaustion in his eyes, what may be accompanied with troubles, Madi knew that Gavin would always tell her in due time if she needed to know. So she always pushed past her worries because he always told her when he was ready.
A laugh escaped from between his chapped lips as Madi spoke, the sound of her voice calming him. He brought his hand to his heart, his mouth gaping in shock as he feigned disappointment. "Wait a second..." he leaned closer to the camera, as if to get a better look, "you're not Beyonce. Sorry, I think I picked up the wrong call." He smirked, falling back into the easy pattern of banter that had supported their friendship for so many years. It was comfortable; it was warm, and inviting, and everything else good in the world-- Madi's voice and eyes and smile brought him home. This time, though, seeing her also ignited an intense, aching loneliness in the hollows of his bones, a desire to forget the chaotic politics of his family and return to the simplicity that was Kingston University and Madisen Bilings. "I have all the hours for little ol' you, Mads, you know that. Although, I might have to jet if I get another call from one of my many suitors. Can't keep the fans waiting, you know?"
