this is back in my notes and I love the number of people in the rbs who think that by “here” I meant “tumblr” and that ofc abed would do numbers bc he’s autistic and gay and into various tv shows but what EYE meant by “here” was “mashblr”, specifically “the corner of mashblr where we understand that the CBS war dramedy M*A*S*H (1972-1983) exists in a timeloop”

Being into M*A*S*H is so funny bc it’s like yes I love this TV show for its timeless anti-war theme and cutting edge storytelling. It has magnificent characters and so much personality. It is a deep and thoughtful show that dares to also find humor in the tragedy. A show about surviving the chaos however you can. Also I like to imagine the traumatized doctor fucking other men.

There’s this look Hawkeye gets on his face sometimes that I absolutely love, because its totally bone-chilling.

It’s not that it’s not the expression of the fired-up outbursts, the passionate rebellions, or the manic spiralings - it’s more that it’s kind of the split-second moment between those film frames.

It’s the moment when all the eyes of all the different masks he wears, and personas and facades he channels himself through, line up completely, and you can see directly down the barrel into the cold fury burning at his core.

I love and hate how much more of it we see as the show progresses.

MASH is great because larry gelbart was like “i want to make a tv show criticizing american involvement in the vietnam war” and cbs was like “No you’re gonna make a tuesday night family sitcom” and alan alda was like “the studio has tricked me, circus trained alan alda, into being here, so i’m going to portray a closeted bisexual” and larry linville was like “i’m in a three stooges ripoff!”
