Am I the only one that headcanons that Chrollo is afraid of legitimate love due to his past and trauma? He values himself as truly nothing, seeing himself as completely expendable, despite the entire troupe viewing him as their one and only true leader. In a way, I think he sees himself as an object, and a pawn in his own plans. Almost as if he doesn’t truly exist, just a piece in a game of eternal chess. I think this is in part due to his past, and learning at such a young age that at any moment, any time, happiness can be ripped from your hands and life can (and will) spit in your face.
I believe that he avoids romance, and anything that will truly tie him to another individual in an unavoidable way. Even with the troupe, they admit that most of the time, they don’t know where he is. He disappears out of no where, only to return mysteriously when he has a job. Chrollo really strikes me as a tragic character, indifferent to his own life (and therefore death) because he sees himself as a piece in a game, only serving his purpose in order to keep the cogs of fate turning.
Chrollo would be either a museum curator, a historian, or an astrologist. I lean more towards museum curator as he would find the artifacts absolutely fascinating, he would love educating the public on the history of them, and sharing his thoughts and theories on the true meaning of certain art pieces and what the history could be interpreted as.
Chrollo’s dating life is somewhat awkward. He finds it hard to meet people, as dating app’s aren’t his preference, and he struggles approaching people at bars. He has social anxiety, which causes him to doubt himself frequently when it comes to making the first move.
You can find him visiting libraries often. It’s one of his favorite places to be, and he’s on a first name basis with most of the staff (especially the nice old lady who runs the place. She likes to sneak him treats every now and then, and often waves his late fees on his book returns, as she knows he loves rereading stories to find new details he missed the first time.)
Chrollo is shy when going out with friends, but loosens up significantly with alcohol, often living it up at karaoke bars. This is also where he finds most of his dates, but they rarely end up as more than a one night stand.
He enjoys window shopping at strip malls, and taking strolls in parks. Something about being on his own, with his own thoughts, walking around and people watching makes him feel content and protected. Like he’s a spectator of the universe, watching the little humans live their lives day by day.
Chrollo absolutely plays DND every Sunday with a group that takes it very professionally. I’m talking huge playing board, fog machines, extremely detailed and hand painted figures, the whole nine yards. He always picks the mage, and is a well respected member of the group.
Chrollo was bullied throughout his school years. He was always reserved, and stayed by himself, either reading or making art. He’d be physically or mentally tormented for being different, but it never made him change his ways. He was also, unfortunately, the kid that reminded the teacher that they forgot to assign the class homework for the week…
