i’ve been going through a lot, and reading fic has been a nice break. so here are some fics that i’ve really enjoyed (nsfw recs under the cut)

treehouse by plvioqhile - dream and george’s relationship through the eyes of their best friend. it’s a wip but i couldn’t stop smiling the entire time i was reading it. outsider pov fics are just something else.

pretty privilege by pelican_noises - george with pretty privilege + jealous dream, ft feral boys and wilbur. people flirting with oblivious george is always so wholesome.

homecoming by disgustedvictories - to the students, dream and george are rival teachers. to each other they are best friends living together. perhaps something more?

can i get a kiss for good luck? by westywallowing - i love heroes of olympus so so so much. this is a son of neptune ish au, and everything about it was absolutely perfect.

any place, any time by zypral - for anyone in a geoguessr drought, take this geoguessr in real life au. dream and george wake up in a different place everyday, but maybe home isn’t a place.

weak knees; don’t go by limerence - dream is a pining idiot. it’s the summer after high school and this fic has somehow made me nostalgic.

hear the child within me screaming by andthentheybow - dream is forced to supervise his younger brother’s field trip, but it’s not so bad once he sees the teacher. more pining dream it’s great.

whatever you make me (wherever you are) by squigly - 500 days of summer au with a twist on the ending. it’s a bit angsty but so so well written. and dream and george are so well characterized its so good.

He’d known George was small, he was very open about the fact in his teases and chides, but he’d never fully let himself understand their proportions, as the ocean between them was not moving any time soon, so it didn’t seem to matter. Now he was faced with the fact that George was really small.

Some deep, guttural part of him seemed to like it, too.

George looked up at the prison walls. It was a terrifying place, exhausting to even be around with the mining fatigue effect. The obsidian stared back at him mockingly, reminding him of a time where the material had been used for his benefit— when Dream used it to defend him.

Dream.

He hated this. He didn’t care before this, some part of him still doesn’t. All he really wants is just for things to go back to the way they were.

George glanced down at the shield in his hand with a solemn expression. He ran a hand over the blue and white checkered pattern painted over the front of it. He smiled sadly.

“You said you were trying to protect me,” he said, his words wobbly as tears formed in his eyes, “You promised you would take care of it.”

He sniffled, noting the tears fallen from his cheeks scattered on the shield.

“It wasn’t supposed to be like this,” he continued, choking on his words as his emotions caught in his throat, “this wasn’t taking care of it, Dream.”

Everyone hates you now- I think, I don’t know how Sapnap feels but it just... all of it ... everyone makes me think it’s wrong that I-” He gazed back up at the prison.

“I still love you.”

“You are like a dog I swear,” George quipped at Dream as the blond tucked his head into the smaller’s lap.

“Oh yeah, what kind of dog?”

George hummed as he thought which breed would suit Dream best. Labrador? Maybe, but his hair is much more poofy. German Shepherd? No, definitely not.

“Probably a golden retriever.”

Dream tilted his head. “Why’s that?”

George giggled as he responded, “Big fluffy blond puppy dog.”

The blond wheezed. “True I guess,” he said, “so what are you?”

“What kind of dog, you mean?”

Dream hummed in disagreement. “I don’t think you’re like a dog at all,” he replied, “you’re much more of a feline.”

“Is that your way of saying I’m a pussy?”

“No I’m saying you’re my little meow meow,” Dream deadpanned.

George groaned, throwing his head back against the couch as he did so. He’d gotten plenty of that from Twitter, he didn’t need it from Dream as well. “Don’t even.”

“Put on the cat ears, Ge-”

“No!” George shrieked, moving Dream’s head off his lap as he rose from the couch, “you’re so annoying.”

“I love you, too,” Dream said, sitting up and perching his head in his hands.

George rolled his eyes.

“I’m not gonna hurt you, Georgie,” Dream rasped out, voice tired yet full of true genuine care. The brunet slowly uncovered his eyes and let his arms fall to his side as he stared at the blonde above him. Dream thought for a moment before giving his hand for the other to take.

Or, Dream finds George hurt in a manhunt and decides to help the pretty boy out (aka irl manhunt au that’s fun and fluffy) :D
