I have never liked Ossan's Love. Out of the ten million versions of this show, I only like the original 2016 45-minute short film that started it all. However, I will watch every version because I ALWAYS appreciate this character in any of those versions.

This man is ridiculous. He doesn't listen and he stays doing too much. But he is an older queer man coming to terms with his sexuality later in life, and I will always love watching that journey. Even when he's heartbroken.

Regardless of the version, he has a successful life. He has a family (a wife or a daughter). He is the boss of the company. He has his life together. And for the first time in his super successful and put-together life, he is allowing himself the opportunity to explore his feelings for another man.

This man is personal to me because a lot of queer folks did not make it out of the 80s and 90s, and for the kids who grew up in that period, a lot of fear and hatred were placed at their feet, so to see this older fictional man (who in my mind is a product of the era) embrace his feelings and enthusiastically come into his own later in life makes me so happy!

He is an idiot in love with a dumb man, but I support queer rights and queer wrongs, especially for the people who realize it's never too late to come out as queer.
