Nimue went the long way around to the village to ensure they wouldn't be seen u til they came upon the village, it wasn't as bad as she expected but still bad. Many buildings were crushed to splinters but the important ones as assumed still stood including the forge. Nimue knew that if there was a trap set anywhere it would be her forge,that's where mab would expect her to go

"alright everyone be alert, if mab has set up any traps for us we need to be aware of them to run away quickly. Mab is going to want to take as many prisoners do she has an army do not go near the forge. My weapons there aren't enchanted and she can have hem,the forge itself will only work for me which means she needs me and likely has the place trapped. Stay far away"

Godwin nodded and went to the leather/ cobbler shop finding a bag of tools and some other necessary equipment that had been asked for. He was stepping out when he heard giggling. His hand went to the dagger when he saw two tiny familiar faces. “Oh no, how did you two get here?”

“Hi Godwin!” The Shakespeare twins waved.

“Hi,” he said looking rather panicked. “Does anyone know you are here?”

“Of course we do,” Callista said as she followed from the same direction the twins had come from. “Where is everyone?”

“We had to leave there was a bad attack, Formorians an army of them it seemed. What are you doing here?”

“It has been a few days in the human world we came to check in.” Callista told him. “Need help?”

“Yeah there is another few bags we could grab and carry.”

Nimue sighed and shook her head she took a few larger bites of her porridge to eat faster

"right. Well then casper merlin whoever you are,you just do what you want in going to take care of the people around me" nimue said to him standing and brushing her pants off before she headed over to the others to make a battle plan and cool off

Casper sat finishing his porridge, “don’t suppose you have anything that would be helpful to know in all of this?”

The ring hummed and he took that to mean yes.

“Wonderful.”

The Godwin looked at her, “ready when you are. Do we have a plan?”

"ok so puck you're headed to the trading post and grabbing whatever will fit in your pack. Godwin you're going to go to the cobbler and leather work shops grab their tools so we can start using more if the creatures we hunt. Robin and I are going to the armory and rescuing any weapons we can find stay safe and stay together with your partner" nimue told them

"so story teller," one guard piped up "if you're so knowledgeable about such things what must you know of king arthur appearing in the town square today?" He asked Ava kept a straight face, they'd disguised the wrong target, well potentially the right one but not for the right quest.

"king arthur is a human fable," nimue said simply "you all know no human could perform such acts even with the aid of sorcery and especially not with one of mine own weapons. No human could ever even wield such a gift"

"point taken, see? No human story could be so powerful!"

Nimue opened her mouth to argue but closed it again as she tried to rethink this battle plan, where the fuck was puck with the drinks?

Puck returned with the wine that was now charmed. “Here we are, sorry it was behind other bottles that wanted to jump off the shelves so had to juggle then had to find the cups.”

Nimue took a glass and paused hearing what he said and worrying that it might not be something she was safe to drink either

"no thank you," Arlene said to him smiling faintly picking up the same as nimue "I don't drink to much"

Puck didn’t take a glass, “not my type of alcohol, I preffer absinthe myself.”

Casper took a glass and wondered at what the contents really were.

Godwin took a glass, “to the valiant guards who seek to keep us all safe from harm.” He lifted his glass in a toast, but was trying to not take a sip till they had.

Nimue raised her glass as well and the moment the guards were to involved in their glasses she dumped it out the window quickly Ava found her glass conveniently behind a plant to be taken care of later

Casper pretended to have drunk his too quickly and sputtered and coughed.

“This is why you can’t have nice things.” Godwin chided him, taking the moment to set his cup down and take care of/chastise his friend’s impatience. Thumping him on the back. “All the same we will miss you.”

Nimue went to her forge for the night and grabbed up a spell book she hadn't used in many many years

"let's see what we can do for the new king" she said with a smile before she pulled her hair back tightly and got ready to go.

Casper sat focusing on the ring eyes closed. Nothing... hey????

Ava took them through a few basic sled defense things that would help their next LARP experience and on the battle field no armybwas raised overnight after all they had a ways to go.

When dark fell Ava called it quits and ushered them all inside to rest Arlene was practically almost asleep the moment she sat down

“Good you opened the seal and you can now access your potential.” Cornelius watched him. “It will take time. You will get better as you learn all that you can do. I suggest looking up a dnd spell app. Makes things easier.”

Nimue had abandoned her spell project, great part of magic you had sort of a pause button, and made dinner. She made something big for her training friends chicken breast in an apple and mead sauce with roasted potatoes and other seasonal vegetables.

"eat up, today is just the beginning" nimue said proudly before she looked at puck

"how are the king and queen doing? They've sort of forgotten us here "

Casper came in and sat down taking up food. “Thank you.” He said eating quickly.

Casper nodded, “wait till Layla finds out about this she will never let me live it down.” He finished his food and looked at everyone. “How was your training?”

"my ached have aches" Arlene groaned to high not really, she trained like this with the Belmonts but she had to play the part of a first time adventurer being pushed to her limits

Harper took a chomp of a potato though she looked like she was about to fall asleep herself

"oh it's not that bad" Ava said rolling her eyes at them

"damsel in distress, enchantress with magic weapons," Harper rattled off and shook her head s little bit

"seems like the plot to a bad movie almost, no offense but I wish it was" Harper said to them sighing she just wanted her brother and mr. Shakespeare home safe.

There was a loud urgent knocking on the door and nimue reached behind a painting and removed a dagger strapped to the back and went to the door peeking out before opening it completely to the inn keeper

"mab's men are out looking for her daughter"

"and he plot thickens" Ava said shaking her head as she looked at Harper

"we have to hide you"

“I could disguise her, “Cornelius suggested, “it will only last for a bit of time. Better to hide in plain sight than to be hidden and obvious.”

“They might have the ability to see under your magic, some of their visors of their helmets have such enchantments.” Puck revealed. “I know in Titania’s court we do. Not all of them but some.”

"worth a shot" nimue said as she looked at Harper "it just needs to work enough so they don't think she's mab's daughter" nimue said before she looked at casper she debated on asking him but he was still so new she didn't want him doing anything permanent

Cornelius went to where Harper was and studied her face. “How about a wider nose, less prominent cheek bones, and lucious black hair? You’ll look less like yourself but look naturally not yourself.”

"it doesn't matter just do it until they're gone" Harper urged quickly she didn't want to be the next one in mab's twisted fairy tale she had already been entrances by her once she did not want it to happen again

Cornelius nodded and did as he had too to disguise her. “There, now you aren’t yourself Hazel.” He booped her nose. “A good common enough name close to yours. Lies are better and easier told if kept as close to the truth. Less detail needed.”

"that's reassuring coming from a pastor demon sorcerer in front of his girlfriend" Harper said sarcastically to him as she smiled

"alright, weapons hide" nimue said as she took the training weapons and began putting them up on the walls to hide in plain sight. She just barely finished when the guards didn't even knock just threw the door open

"Well now that we know you aren't vampires can I offer you gents a drinks?" Nimue asked them cool as ever obviously this wasn't a new occurrence

“Not a demon, not anymore.” Cornelius said not sounding happy he had worked hard in the last year and the sarcasm felt like a slap to the face. He had no time to speak further on the matter as the door opened.

“ ‘s an awful lot of people in a smithy for so late at night.” One guard said.

“Are old friends not allowed to meet together?” Casper asked softly. “Tis an old place not full of drunk people and allows us to hear each other while being close enough to get food or drink from the bar.”

“Looks like the string bean has a bit of a tongue, why don’t we listen to it.” One nudged the other. “Grab him.”

Casper held up his hands. “Really you’re going to arrest a guy who’s dying and wants to see his friends before he has little left to see them with.” It was a lie but one that might get them off the hook.

Nimue didn't hesitate to step between merlin and the guards

"gentlemen, gentlemen please. There is no need to be so aggressive. I'm simply having a visit from some old friends, besides don't you think it's unwise to bite the hand that feeds you?" Nimue asked them quirking a brow

"have I not always provided you with suitable weapons and patched your armor more times than you gents can count? Given that's not a lot but I'd like to see you all get to Titania's kingdom to get your armor and weapons from now on" nimue said to them with a small smile hoping the underlying threat would stand in their little pea brains for a moment

"not to mention the fact that I could have a riot on your hands in a heart beat seeing as Robin and I are heads of council and unlike some people provide for our people" nimue added pretending to study her nails before she glanced up at them

"but perhaps before we make hasty decisions we should all sit and discuss over a pint? A satyr friend of mine just gave me the best wine I bet you'll ever taste"

Casper watched wondering what the guards would do next he didn’t want to be arrested but he was certain he might be able to get free with his new found magic he just didn’t know how.

The guard seemed to rethink a thing and nodded

"fine. One pint" he said before seating himself beside casper. Nimue smiled and turned to puck

"my CHARMING friend, would you mind grabbing the bottle from the kitchen? It's in the blue glass" nimue said hinting for him to charm the wine and hoping he would understand her meaning

"So Godwin you mentioned an adventure?" Ava added quickly to try to get things casual Godwin was basically a professional DM surely he could bard up a tale to keep them distracted long enough

Puck nodded and went to the kitchen finding several bottles and then the one that she had described. It would take a moment to apply the charm and another to find glasses.

Godwin began, “Oh my friends it is with a heavy heart that I say this tale of adventure one last time, but let this not be tinted with the sorrow of the evening. After all Casper has loved a good life and his next will be all the more wonderful. So gather round and lend thy ears for this tale shall be told and in it adventures brave and bold.” Godwin spoke with a flourish taking on a persona that was as grand as any DM. He told a strange tale about a Vampire who was heralded as the doom of his world who then found love and through love and frienship changed his fate. “And with a clean sweep of the sword Lucifer, the shining, the fallen star of heaven, God’s once favorite and King of Hell, was smote. Vlad stood strong and victorious over his Father and the world brightened and the chaos in the land ended all because he had friends and family. Something we all here tonight are greatful for, after all the greatest adventure is the friends we made along the way.” He made a bow knowing he was full of shit. He had omitted details, and simplified many but it made for a good story all the same and one the guards couldn’t discredit.

"it would be better if Will wasn't somewhere trapped here with Ben" Rohan said sighing a bit he knew he should have kept a closer eye on Ben and stayed with will and the family that night he felt guilt for not listening to them and going. So much had happened and he wanted to be sure they were safe

"let's focus on whats ahead before we focus on what could be meu amor" Arlene said to him smiling at his enthusiasm it made her wonder how much he really did know and how much she should report to Sophia, she'd hate to see him get hurt because he didn't know what side he was on.

They trudged on to the castle which stood heavily guarded Rohan observed there weren't many ways in without and decided to try a direct approach telling the others to wait for him as he approached the guards

"I am sir Rohan of seacoast, I have an appointment to see your king and queen" Rohan told them the guards did some whisper and damn the fey for being so good at keeping secrets

"lay low and wait for Ava" he told them before he went back to the guards before Arlene could ask he has punched one if them square in the face which obviously broke out in a brawl

"is he always so stupid?" Arlene asked watching as more guards were called to handle Rohan, he wasn't much for field work but he wasn't helpless either

“More or less, I don’t know about you but I think we should go back to where the portal was there was a crossing not far where a village is. If the sign is to be believed. We can wait there till it is closer for Ava to join us.” Casper suggested.

“It is a better idea than waiting right here.” Arthur shrugged.

“Annnnnnd he is down.” Godwin grimaced as he watched the dog pilling of the guards on Rohan. “Well I’m good with the plan if you all are.”

"I'm guessing running would be Best" Arlene suggested as one of the guards leveled them with a look just as Rohan was brought to his knees with a good hit to the back of his head he was seized and cuffed spitting out blood he hadn't had a brawl like that since his college days, surely seeing such an act would have made will proud but that was a story for their missing bard.

Arlene grabbed Godwin by the hand and started sprinting the direction that they'd come to try to find he little village as a guard shouted after them no doubt wanting to arrest them as well

Ava made her way to the portal dressed in her own outfit hat she wore to blend in among the fey. Most if them knew her parents anyways either her mothers or her father or someone depending on who she ran into it was either a warm welcome or an attack....there wasn't much of an in-between. Ava approached and paused seeing the sorcerer that was there and raised a brow

"Cornelius?" She asked slinging her crossbow over her shoulders as she approached looking him up and down with a smile

"you look good, though I thought you'd be done with magic since you're human again"

“Oh no I find it useful, especially when there is always another bed that is needed or a spare bowl of food for those that use our place to take shelter at night.” Cornelius smiled. “Always room for more it is getting to be rather timelord like in there.” He chuckled.

They got to the village the guards having given up at the edge of the lands. “Right that was an adventure.”

“This is why you don’t split the party!” Godwin declared. “You lose your numbers. Now where should we go from here?”

"there's the little village or we can just sit and make camp off the side if the road" Arlene said thoughtfully she knew they had to stay in view do Ava could find them though or else they risked missing each other and a lot of other issues.

“Town there is something to do here and we blend in enough.” Casper said. “By the side of the road we are more noticeable and vulnerable.”

"had to do a lot of damage control since the apocalypse, paranormal investigators are hard to deter and not always reasonable. Plus there's something going on with Sophia, I have to look into it" Ava admitted to him smiling a little as she almost leaned into the touch

"I miss you too" she added to him she almost didn't want to go so she could stay and talk to him a little while longer

"alright then, let's go we don't know when it gets dark here and don't want to get caught in unfamiliar territory like that" Arlene said before she headed off knowing the others would follow

They trooped together along twisting turns and over various parts that one would hardly recognize from coming the other way. The fry wild was like that especially for outsiders.

The town was farther than Arlene had thought, by he time they reached the town on a large lake the sun was starting to set and she worried their friend wouldn't find them

The town looked like if a villains tavern had been expanded into some kind of tortuga but without the ocean pirates. Obviously in the outskirts this place was all but forgotten and those who had been banished obviously adapted but for it's circumstances it seemed to be doing well.

"I feel like this is where we should have started our quest" Arlene admitted with a chuckle "looks like where you might start curse of strahd or something, madame eva will be around the corner"

Casper gasped as the image flashed in his mind, this time it stayed stronger. “I think the ring is around here the one I keep seeing in my mind.”

Godwin came dressed in wizard robes of course with the Monster manual in hand a satchel to carry it. Arthur was behind him also decked out in some borrowed gear from Vlad along with Casper who looked rather lost while also dressed like a caster rather Warlock like.

“Right so this should be easy real life D&D my whole adult life has prepared me for this moment!” Godwin grinned.

Arthur shook his head. “Careful Godwin, we haven’t even got there.”

“I know but we have survived the apocalypse what is the worst that could happen?”

“We get trapped?” Casper said. “Is your girlfriend the baker at that needy cafe what is her name? Angela? Coming or Layla?” Casper would feel better if they were.

Arlene smiled excitedly as she finished the retro video game mural on the ceiling of one of her rooms that wasn't open to the public yet, the geek cafe was doing great since opening a month and a half ago and as business began picking up she started preparing other rooms in the cafe for opening. This would be the new arcade room, at the moment she had all of her retro arcade games in the tabletop room but that and the cafe with the boardgame tables were the only open rooms, she did have a lot of land outback for LARPing events that she was still working on, she was excited that soon her Lazar tag room would be finished as well and she could open up a star wars larp in there with troopers. That was going to be a blast!

Arlene heard the bell to the shop door and climbed down off the ladder and dropped the brush in it's tray

"just a second!" She called as she pulled off her smock and headed to the front. Once behind the counter she started Washing her hands

"welcome to dreams and drinks nerd cafe, what can I get for you?" She asked also pulling her hair back

"can I recommend our Mario cupcakes and Totoro cookies?"

Arlene smiled as she looked at the menu

“pretty much the same as I do at the cafe, video games, cooking, dungeons and dragons, larps. I am working on a lazar tag for the cafe though, potentially with an attached escape room for a star wars event or a futuristic larp event that I have in my head that sounds epic but I can’t spoil anything for you.” Arlene said grinning

“I look forward to it,” Godwin said. “Ok if you had to pick a Star Wars faction which would it be?” He asked her. He loved hearing her talk, and seeing how giddy she was made him excited too.

Arlene thought for a moment seeming to debate

“Depends. originals, sequels or prequels? Lets not even get into the cartoons because that’ll be confusing.” Arlene said to him smiling it was nice to have someone to talk with about these kinds of things as she leaned on the table a bit

“I mean Jedi is an obvious answer but whether you’d want to be a gray jedi or a full jedi is the big question. Personally I’m a fan of the gray jedi but I don’t want the orange saber I’d prefer purple but I’d have to be super intune with the force and that means i couldn’t technically be a gray jedi. Which ya know stinks.”

Godwin grinned, “I wish more people understood that the Grey Jedi existed. Also did you know it was purple because Samuel L Jackson asked for it? It was the reason he did the role.”

“Yep! i love the little things like that, Ewan mcgregor made the lightsaber sounds so often during battle scenes they had to cut them out in post edit but if you pay attention you can kind of see his lips move sometimes” Arlene told him giggling Abai returned with a second man, Marley and Arlene stood up and hugged him too

“Arlene! you need to start bringing your friends over more often. How else can we promote your lovely little cafe?” Marley asked her grinning and Arlene smiled and nodded

“I know but I’ve been busy, marley abai this is Godwin he owns the D&D bar up the road from my cafe.” Arlene introduced both of them smiled warmly at Godwin

“Welcome Godwin, hopefully Arlene hasn’t talked your ear off to much about the cafe”

Godwin stood to meet them, “Oh no, my ear is still where it can hear her,” he hoped the joke paid off. “This place is wonderful and so is she. I wish I had known about it sooner. Everything about her is a delight, from the cafe to the people she calls family. I can’t wait to try the food.” So far best date ever. He shook their hands.

"they're nice guys, they just like seeing me Happy" Arlene told him if her bright smile was any indication it definitely proved she was happy
