I've been wondering for a while now about the actual length of Pascal's hair. In my 1970s AU, his hair is tousled, but I've realized that its length is actually quite similar to the original... (I thought it was shorter! That's the illusion created by his tragic “bald spot”.) The difference is that his hair is straight, with his “bangs” tucked behind his ears. His hair is also—unlike Lazlo’s—more grayish, with gray strands. Of course, if after all the stress he deals with and his lack of grooming, he ends up with grayish hair at almost 40 years old…

And that’s when I made a connection, and it occurred to me to analyze his father, Glarn—in his 40s, I’d guess, which would be the approximate age in these screenshots. 

To my eyes, Glarn is a man of mixed ethnicity—Arab (because of Notzo) and Black (Because of Zo)—which I took the time to look into as well. 

I couldn’t wrap my head around why he looked one way as an adult and another way as an old man, but upon closer inspection and comparison, I realized they completely changed his face so that Pascal and Lazlo’s genes could come through… 

Since that doesn’t satisfy me, I prefer to think that even in old age he retains those features he used to have, and much of that was passed down to Pascal—he’s the most like his father, I’d say, just softened a bit by Kitty’s genes. 

Another unnecessary detail—and more delusional than anything else—is that Vidcund’s clothes are “genuine vintage,” since they’re the same ones his father wore when Vidcund was just a toddler. It’s just a coincidence, but I like to read into it. I also find it really endearing because you can tell he really cares about his parents (even if Glarn isn’t the best… But he sure was well-dressed!)

Matching with mommy

Vidcund’s bob cut is highly distinctive; without it, his iconic look wouldn’t be complete. I love it—I wish people drew him (or played the game) with his bob more often. 

From what we can gather from the Curious family story, Glarn was a rather cold and strict father, and while Kitty may have had her ups and downs with her children, she probably showed affection more often. That’s why Vidcund remembers her so fondly. He must have picked up many of his habits from her, as well as their shared aesthetic tastes. 

Jenny probably had a bob when she was younger, and the siblings generally all have fairly long hair for the time period in which my game is set. 

Vidcund is definitely very particular about his appearance. There’s a certain structure to his rebellious streak, and I think Kitty is the reason behind it. After all, Vidcund has been wearing a bob since he was a teenager. Considering that the siblings lost Kitty at a very young age, I feel like Vidcund must cling to her memory in various ways—one of which is keeping his hair the same. It’s his comfort hairstyle, and honestly, it looks great on him.

I find Nervous Subject to be a character with a very distinctive melancholy—just like others, of course. But every now and then I think about what he used to be like; there were even traits that defined him before these experiments stripped him of a large part of his being. In the PSP game, he has a tragic ending that I prefer to think of as a sort of “what would have happened if the player hadn’t intervened and helped him escape.” Otherwise, how... terrible. 

I wanted to draw something that could show a little of who he is as an individual, as a person. I have a lot in mind, but I tend to notice that he’s sometimes treated as an extension of other characters, without his own voice or story, when the truth is that he has so much to offer...

The Adventures of Magical Girl Tycho and Vidchibi-chan ✨🎇 At the Takemizu Village !

I love creating different universes when I'm playing, this time it turned out this way. It's rare when Tycho is born a girl but not impossible, she's adorbs. And so is little Vid ~~ they went on vacation with Jenny so I could make a photoshoot there, very dreamy attire.

Some doodles I've recently done of the Curious brothers, Tycho and Vidcund's alien baby, this one's called Henry.

Henry had really long hair since he's a toddler and a kid, it looked neat so he's wearing it that way even as a teen.

Personally, i think Vidcund's alien baby is just as canon as Tycho, since Vidcund gets abducted right after Tycho was born when the game starts.

By the way, Lazlo is really good with kids, he's always taking care of them and playing with them when his older siblings are busy. He's so sweet.

I wanted to draw the Curious siblings with their sister Jenny this time. I love them so much.

My partner and I have been playing them as if everything was set in the 70s. Vidcund is usually outserving with his fashion choices, since his original attire is pretty much "70s looking", I gave him something to keep standing out.
