the scariest thing about the generative AI thing is how quickly people have accepted it as an indefinite, irrevocable part of their reality. people have genuinely convinced themselves that ChatGPT is the only solution to most tasks - tasks they did with their own brain without any large effort two years ago. like you know damn well all of us used to write emails ourselves why are we pretending like this is an impossible task to do with your own two hands. what's with the fucking. What a crazy concept it would be if Snows mom was covey

I don’t remember if this was in the book or not so I’ll just say it’s headcanon

There were multiple bands of covey(bairds, clades, and so on), many of them traveled to different locations, it’s possible that a very small(smaller than the district 12) covey band wound up in the capitol.

It’s said that she valued her freedom and music very deeply, things that non covey people can want, but how else would she know about the “roses are red, violets are blue” form of rhyming??as its origins lay in old English, the kind that the covey sing all the time. In fact, the only other people that references this rhyme is the covey and I believe that it’s intentional.

Coriolanus is even described to have a good singing voice, Lucy Gray is not easy to impress when it comes to music.

If Coriolanus’ mom is in fact Covey then there lies the answer to Lucy Gray’s future had she stayed with Coriolanus and gone with him to the capitol. All she would’ve been was his wife and a mother to his children. She’d be trapped, even more so in the capitol, she would have no one else to rely on but Snow. At least in 12 there are faces she’s known most of her life, in the capitol she would have no one(Pluribus’ invitation did not extend to Lucy grays family)

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Lucy Gray and Coriolanus’ relationship failed because they both didn’t truly know or understand one another

Coriolanus had understood Lucy gray to be differing things over the course of the book but she was ultimately “his girl”, he believed that she liked the attention that came with being a performer(the peacekeepers overall treating her nicely after her Ballad) even though the most it gets her is basic respect and decency. A way to further his own prospects as a mentor. His manic pixie dream girl that he could control and that would always be there for him and only him.

However…

Lucy Gray had misunderstood Coriolanus to be a pure and noble person. He went above and beyond to ensure her survival when he didn’t even get confirmation that she felt the same way for him(until the kiss that is). That he didn’t just love her for her songs, he loved her for who she was as a person. Despite her admitting her troubled past, the social imbalance, and the so called trouble she caused him. “Pure as the driven snow” and all that.

If we really want to stretch it then perhaps she saw a performer in him, Snow’s financial situation is never explicitly stated to Lucy gray but I’m sure she would be able to tell that he had less than his peers, and that he was pretending to have wealth so that he wouldn’t loose his way of life. Just like she performed so as to not lose hers.

The conceptions they have for eachother is absolutely flipped once they realize the others true intentions. Coriolanus that Lucy will not eternally be in love with him with her possibly running away. With Lucy gray possibly realizing that Snow was not as pure as he seemed (lying about the third murder)

I love the idea of hearing The Hanging Tree again making president Snow crash out BUT

I think it was the Meadow song that probably had him worse off because off the other songs that Katniss sang afterward were songs that the Covey performed and that Snow could excuse as some soldier a long time ago being a big fan, remembering the songs and teaching them(like the valley song that Katniss sings for school when she was 5)

However the Meadow song was a deeply personal one that was clearly only reserved for the Covey and for special occasions(Maude ivory being sick and so on)

So that song would’ve 100% confirmed that Katniss was in a familial way related to the Covey. Not only that but imagine the absolute DOUBLE TAKE he would have as he was brought back to a that lake, at most peace with himself, a time where “love conquered all”

I must confess that in some SICK and TWISTED way I honestly kind of like this ending for them

I’ve always been a sucker for tragic endings. I kinda like the concept of katsuki realizing that, he did all these things for izuku (apologizing, being a better person, THE MECH SUIT, offering a spot at his agency), but that it was too late, izuku moved on with his life and from katsuki already after 8 years
