you know a joke that never EVER gets old is when a character says smth like “I will NOT go to [place] and that is FINAL” and then it cuts to them in that place I eat that shit up every single time
I love it especially when it cuts to them like this:

For those who have missed it, a tourist in Hawaii decided it would be fun to chuck a rock (a BIG rock) at a monk seal. He missed, but he was captured on video, and when told it was illegal to interfere with them, said "I'm rich, I can pay the fine."
Is the best part that he got doxxed? No.
Is the best part that he got tracked down by a local and beaten? No.
Arrested on state at federal charges, looking at up to 5 years and 50K? Nope.
The best part is the local city council's reaction.
And the best part of that is the look on the attorney's face.
If you live in the UK you need to see this

If you live in the UK, please be sure to take part in this!
I don’t do politics on my tumblr. I try and keep it a stress free zone (believe me I worry about it plenty, that’s the point of needing a place to switch off). But I just spent two and a half hours filling out that questionnaire and now I’m leaving a comment not in the tags, but where people will actually see it (and I hate drawing attention to myself) because this is important.
The governments agenda is clearly spelled out in this consultation, through the phrasing of the questions.
Excuse me while I link a video. It’s a clip from a comedy so it’s a bit exaggerated but it demonstrates the point very well.
Almost all the questions in that survey were “leading questions”. They had an inherent presumption that the person answering agreed with age restrictions, wanted more severe ones and wanted more websites and services restricted. (Believe me I take no pleasure in being correct that VPN’s are next on their target list).
This is a consultation where they try and make you look a monster for saying no. They push the “but it’s for the children” hard. Like there was one question where in order to say no, you had to not object to children sending/receiving nudes which felt wrong. I mean that’s bad, obviously that’s bad. But the answer isn’t total lockdown of the internet to verified ID.
So yeah if you are from the UK then fill this out, and fill it out carefully. Don’t let them manipulate or trick you into agreeing that mandated age restrictions are necessary, as that is what we have with this “you must prove your identity” and it looks like they want to make it worse, not roll it back.
Also section 4 I think it was, is skewed in the opposite direction as it wants to know the benefits of AI chatbot usage for kids… so slam that part too. Say no to AI and no to age verification.
When I filled this out, I focused my answers to all of these questions on *education*. Educate kids and parents in school and at home how to recognise dangers online: Common recognisable scams, links that may contain viruses, etc. Teach them about privacy online: Not giving your name, age, or location to strangers on the internet, INCLUDING THIRD PARTY DATA HARVESTING. That we need more protections around websites trying to gain consent to take our data. I pushed how facial and biometric data gathering is synonymous with this. And pointed out all the existing data breaches, and how THAT puts our kids in MORE danger. My response was the same for the AI questions. I made my answers focus on education. On how AI is doing negative things with the environment and water supplies, how AI is taking our data from those data breaches and using them for identity theft, and other crimes. etc. All my focus went into IGNORING THE LEADING QUESTIONS THAT WANT YOU TO AGREE WITH THEM And putting all my focus into PROVIDING EDUCATION, OTHER OPTIONS, METHODS THAT ALREADY HAVE HISTORICALLY WORKED, AWARENESS AND SAFETY CAMPAIGNS. Put the onus on learning self responsibility, and providing open access resources on internet safety education. You don't need to answer THEIR biasedly led questions. You can answer the question with the problems THEY are causing, and the solutions for a better path forward. Importantly though. Don't be rude, or swear. Or they'll likely dismiss your responses. Be thorough. Be smart. It takes forever to fill that form out, but it can be done in a way that circumvents their bullshit.

Questions for your character
Thanks for the tag @iravaid! I'm gonna fill these out for Auden Kauslov, my current DnD PC. She's a firbolg Blood Hunter, Order of the Profane Soul. Ms blood magic and bad decisions!
How would you describe your character’s mindset? Their personality, their attitude, their mentality and self-philosophy…
Auden is an academic to her core, obsessive about her studies of undead and other monster types, joining the Claret Orders in pursuit of this. She's dogged and direct which can sometimes come across as harsh. Her personality is quite guarded, uptight unless she's around one of the few people she's comfortable with - then a more humorous, earnest side slips out. Her mentality is that if you care about someone or something you can never let it go, do whatever you have to keep them safe from harm. Hence why she's currently in the Bad Timeline lmao.
What is the best thing about your character? Be it their talent, skill, or a trait.
Auden's loyalty is both her best and worst trait. It's hard won, but when she cares about a person or a cause, she's an attack dog about it.
What is their worst quality? Do they realize it?
Auden is spiteful. If someone has wronged her or someone she cares for, she'll relish the opportunity to screw them over or retaliate tenfold. She knows this, and doesn't see anything wrong with it. She's also got a *bad* case of hubris.
Everyone is created by something whether they like it or not… What was the moment in their lives that pushed them into who they are? Was it bloody? Was it peaceful?
It was bloody in every sense of the word. Auden watched her best friend die and made a pact with an unknown entity to take her instead…well! The entity was Strahd, and after manipulating her into performing a blood ritual using her own body as a component…..he killed her and raised her back as a dhampir, to eventually play host for his consciousness.
People have goals and desires, what are theirs and will they achieve it?
So it hasn't happened yet but my DM and I have *plans*....the only thing keeping Auden bound to Strahd's service is that he brought her friend to life again, and so can cut that thread as easily as it was snapped. Her goal is to eliminate the threat Strahd poses to her own autonomy (as he eventually will take over her mind if left to his own devices) and sever his connection to her friend, Solendil's, life-force.
However, doing this will require taking his place as Dread Lord….whether she'll achieve it, who knows!
When it comes to people, was there anyone they idolized or someone that was/is important to them? Why are they important?
Auden idolises her mother, Clementine, for raising her and starting again in a new city after the undead attack that destroyed their village. Her mother is now ill, suffering from lapses in memory, and all of Auden's income from her adventures/previous academic career go into keeping her comfortable and cared for back in Zadash.
Fear is only human nature, are they scared of anything? Is this fear rooted in any experience or memory in particular?
As a child, Auden lost her foot in the attack that decimated her village. Her fear of helplessness is rooted in that moment.
Break down how they look. Why do they wear what they wear? Any scars, tattoos, or piercings on them?
Before being killed by Strahd, Auden had short brown hair, glasses and green eyes. She has long, drooping Firbolg ears, wears an old travelling jacket that's been patched one too many times, and has a running blade attached to her left leg as a prosthetic foot.
After being raised from the dead, Auden's hair and eyes have turned a stark grey. Her entire body save for her face is encircled in black bramble and thorn markings, denoting her ties to Strahd.
Everyone is perceived in one way or another. How is your character perceived by others?
She can be perceived as uptight upon first meeting, quite guarded and businesslike. Until she knows the person better, that's how it will stay.
What is the most painful thing they’ve experienced? Physical, or emotional. Everyone has wounds.
Watching Solendil die. Being killed by Strahd in the blood ritual is a close second. Hopefully she catches a break in Campaign 2!
Unsurprisingly, the Schemers have been my favorite table so far! I love political intrigue and spy stuff! I knew it would be my favorite when it was announced as a concept. The fact that it has 3 of my top 4 characters so far (Hal, Azune, and Murray) just feels like an incredible bonus!
Still, I didn't expect it to hit this hard right away. I think one of the key reasons why is the feeling that everything the Schemers do has inherent stakes. They are trapped in one place, and it's a place they care deeply about. Every move they make and interaction they have feels loaded with risk. Because every person they meet is a potential enemy or ally. Everything they do might be being watched. And the consequences for failure (beyond death) aren't just not succeeding at their mission, but losing access to the jobs they love/networks they've built/community they are a part of. Everything feels like a high-wire act. And the moments they have alone (truly alone or alone with each other) are also emotionally hightened by the intensity of the stress they are under. And it's just not something that can happen at other tables to the same degree due to the sheer fact of travel providing them respite from the feeling that every action could have catastrophic consequences. It feels, to me, like every moment at the schemers table matters. Which really helps eliminate the drag I can sometimes feel in a 3.5+ hour episode
Named Biker. Never drawn in their leathers. I'm a FAKE fan.......
Thank you... for everything.
