I don’t understand this growing sentiment that if a ship doesn’t ’make sense’ (ie follow canon) then its suddenly not valid to ship two characters. Everyone goes through a phase, me included, of wanting to defend your ships by dismantling other ones. But I’m talking about the people that are like-
‘But they’re enemies’
‘But they’ve barely interacted’
‘But they’re so toxic’
My dude, that’s the POINT. Seeing two characters who aren’t together, well, together, and speculating on how those two personalities would mesh. Seeing how certain events would impact that relationship. I swear, there is a small, vocal portion of fandom culture who bitch about other people’s ships way too much.
Ships are not better if they’re more accurate to canon or are logically likely to get together.
It's been frustrating to see this and my guesses remain that it was a wider range of people joining fandom culture during the pandemic and the consequent popularisation of fanfiction as a topic due to adaptations of them, or otherwise it being used as a marketing tactic on social media.
This, for example, also led to the breach of RPF fanfic being shown to the people it was written about as a marketing tactic (Ferrari F1 I am looking at you-)
And in another guess in extension to this marketisation and influx of people in fandom spaces;
I think that fandom and fanfiction and shipping (fundamentally creative spaces because of the way people handle and think about "canonicity") have indeed seen an influx of people not realising that fanart, fanfiction and thus "fannish" spaces are inherently built on the idea of playing with dolls in a dollhouse. These people that may have never engaged with fandom spaces otherwise; because they didn't see the need to get creative with the source material.
Ergo they can only see "other ships" or things out of canon as a rejection of the source material rather than born from love for the material and the inspiration it brings to get. creative. And sometimes something is born out of rejection of the source material... so what? It just means it sparked someone to get creative.
hi this drives me crazy
canon is what happens in the text. e.g. merlin tries to poison morgana
a headcanon is a fact that you have personally made up as an elaboration of canon. it is your invention. e.g. i think morgana and gwen had a teenage lesbian situationship before the events of canon. or, i think modern morgana would love evanesence.
an interpretation is how one reads the existing text. it is not an invented fact nor is it a headcanon, it is a reading. e.g. i think merlin tries to poison morgana out of misplaced self-hatred. or, i think that one line was delivered with suppressed malice and shows a nuanced relationship.
fanon is the general fandom’s accepted headcanons and interpretations that elaborate or recontextualize canon. e.g. merlin is a badass waif and morgana is a bitch.
these are all different words with different meanings.
and a cannon is a large mounted gun, usually on wheels, that uses explosives to fire projectiles.
New reaction image just dropped
After school care pulled me aside about my child dropping an f-bomb “without remorse” and I put on my concerned face and nodded a bunch.
Apparently he was building something with a younger kid “who really looks up to him and is just starting to make friends” and said “Hey, you’re really fucking good at this.” which is, in my estimation, really a parenting victory.
I absolutely failed at doing this:

i posted about my omegaverse pill bottles and how they help me take my bipolar meds more regularly and it became a hit tweet im wheezing
As a pharmacist I support whatever system you use to take your meds, but please make sure not to mix new refills with old pill batches in your bottles; heat suppressants don't work as well once expired
crossover episode!
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (a movie I've never actually seen) is on TV at the bar, and while there's neither audio nor closed captions, it's clear to me that the hero of the movie is Short Round, as everyone else is fucking useless.
