Make sure people feel comfortable saying no to you. Make sure to create a space where there is room for limits and boundaries. It's okay and normal to get upset about conflicts and disagreements, but if it escalates to a point where you turn the tables or throw a fit every time someone tries to establish a boundary, you need to work on that. This older man moved my skirt aside and I absent-mindedly said "oh sorry" for being partially in his seat and he said "dont be sorry, this is new york" and then showed me all his poetry about observing the world and living as a restaurant worker during the pandemic and we talked about how i worked in a grocery store and as a bartender so i resonated with his work and he told me "i may never meet you again but it's nice to meet someone worth talking to. I might sound like a world class idiot sage, but you can't be afraid. That's no way to live. You have to trust your humanity." Then he shook my hand and got off the stop before me. Hello. Hello . i hate to say it but. the healthy eating people are kinda onto something. if you can figure out a way to get all your greens and proteins and fiber in ways that taste good to you you start to prefer the healthy option over junk food 7/10 times

to be clear rice-heavy stirfry with a lot of soy sauce and whatever freezer veggies you can toss in count as healthy. bread with butter and jam, with eggs, is healthy. frying your veggies in butter and oil is healthy. eating until you are full is wayyyy healthier than counting calories. dieting is a fucking scam, the true way to eat better is to just balance the kinds of food you eat and try not to eat a bag of chips and one (1) mandarin orange for dinner too many nights in a row

somewhere out there is a guy who meticulously takes screenshots of every individual frame of his favorite tv shows and then painstakingly etches each one onto a roll of film which he puts into his old timey projector and recreates the footage as a silent film with his own lavishly hand-lettered dialogue cards and original score that he plays on his upright piano and charges audiences one shiny penny a play. at last, big media has finally outsmarted ol' Zachary Zoetrope

Seeing other queer fem afab people has been so healing to me tbh

I think I’ve been scared because I could never perform femininity the way the cishet world has demanded of me, and then felt like I couldn’t or shouldn’t be feminine at all because I wouldn’t be able to do it correctly and it would just mean that I played into the hands of gender norms and somehow took away part of my queerness

And idk just seeing afab nonbinary people define what femininity and gender means to them has helped me realise I could do the same
