Disco Elysium perfectly captures that feeling of being in love with a world that's shit.

The past is shit. The present is shit. The future is shit. Everyone's life is shit. And you know the world is going to end, for a fact. You know that whatever you do won't change the world. You know the world is doomed.

But everyone is fighting tooth and nail to live. Rerolling the dice over and over again, fighting to live in this world, for this world. Doing whatever they can because maybe, just maybe, they could make things slightly better. They call the world Elysium out of a fondness for it because they do want to live in it. But everyone you cross is simultaneously mourning for Elysium and also trying to make the world a bit more liveable for themselves and, sometimes, others. All while knowing that living is suffering, and not knowing that they're all doomed.

But this expression of love for the world is what matters. The people you love in it (be it your partner, your lover, your brother, your posse) matters. Even if the world is going to be destroyed if not by a nuke, then by The Pale, the good fight everyone puts up has value and has worth.
