the mandalorian wars' factions are so funny

like. the sith attempted to influence the mandalorians to start a war. turns out that was way easier than they expected bc mandalore the ultimate was just like "oh that sounds fun! sure! :-)", as did nearly every other crusader

then on the jedi side. the official jedi policy was to not get involved in the military side of the war, so college-age revan gathered a bunch of friends and started the revanchist movement like the opposite of an antiwar activist. pro war activist revan.

and then revan's movement inspired a second wave of jedi to join the war, except on the side of the mandalorians as the mandalorian knights.

then among those who stayed with the jedi there's lucien and his friends killing padawans anakin-style because they're pretty sure one of them is a sith. surely they'll get the sith if they keep killing padawans.

also there's zayne (doing rogue jedi stuff) and haazen (doing rogue sith stuff).

There's a common type of fandom user I've ran into who take the worst, most evil male characters who've committed violent crimes against women, and who the narrative is very clear in condemning, and they go: What if we care about him instead. What if he got mental help for his issues. Are you really a good person if you just hate on him and don't want to give him a chance to rehabilitate?

And then they'll write a bunch of m/m fic about him with the guy he's obsessed with and act like this is a deeply subversive and enlightened approach to fictional morality and not just the standard misogyny women are subjected to everywhere in real life and it's so funny. Oh you're sad for that deliberately written evil man because he made bad choices and had a bright future ahead of him? Such a shame that he chose to groom/rape/abuse that woman. People are way too sympathetic to her. She's the victim yes but she made her own choices! His relationship with this man is so much more interesting than what the authors tried to do with the woman but I'm the only one brave enough to admit it! True morality is having compassion for abusive misogynistic men because of their mental health. The female character who's life he made living hell? Well doesn't she get enough support and sympathy anyways?

It's always the most eye rolling thing like no you're not more emotionally intelligent or mature or better at critical thinking than the general fandom who just goes "Wow this guy sucks." and moves on. You're just exhausting.

At first I thought Metal should just be totally indifferent to Belle, maybe just annoyed by her, cause I just really don't like Metal being a part of the "Robotnik family", but then I thought about it and realized it'd be better if he actually just full on despised her.

Like they're made for completely opposite purposes. He's a slave forced to exist for nothing but conquest and servitude, his mind hard coded to process nothing but hate, envy, and rage. And Belle's purpose is just to... exist.

There are no orders to follow, no bitter rivals to obsess over, no master controlling her or erasing any trace of her free will. She just gets to exist and blissfully enjoy the world and be loved while he's locked away at base when he's not on a mission.

And she has the audacity to rub it in by offering her hand to him, acting as if some purposeless wooden wind up toy could ever relate to the pinnacle of technology and power he is.

Thinking a lot about how the Sith were once an actual people with its own society, culture, and practices and now the whole species is gone and their legacy has degenerated into a two man band abuser dynamic cult. The Sith were a massive empire of its people and then thousands of years later they're two people with no ties to Sith heritage hiding away in the shadows. The Baneite philosophy removes that societal aspect of the Sith and centers it wholly on the purity of the Dark Side, power and control above all else.
