it goes without saying, but none of the artwork posted here is mine. due to the artwork being fake or forged paintings, some of it will not have anyone to give credit to - sometimes, all we know is who the painter isn't.

i want to make clear the difference between fake and forged art, as the two words cannot really be used interchangeably. for art to be forged, it has to have been created with the intention to deceive - either through recreating an existing work, or by painting something in the style of an established artist. fake art, on the other hand, includes forgeries in its definition, but can also refer to copies of existing work (art students traditionally learn to paint by copying the old masters) or art painted in the style of an established artist, without intent to deceive. many former art forgers, for example, legally sell art painted in the style of other painters.
