How has your day been?
For the entirety of mine, I was
Still Breathing
How quickly are we hurtling through space after a sun that does not know where it is going?
Please.
I’m fighting off panic.
Where are we going?
What if trees ate people?
Or more generally speaking, what if we weren’t the top predators—but they were?
What if the Tower of Babel* never fell?
*This is assuming it was a true story.
NO offense to any religions, or lack thereof, meant in this question. Please.
What if the Roman Empire never fell?
Either it just continued advancing, or stayed rather fixed in place despite the passage of time. Explain.
What if we never domesticated dogs?
Or what would happen if we domesticated cats first instead?
What if sheep were carnivorous predators and bears were not?
How different would the livestock/food/clothing industry be?
What would the premise of Goldielocks and the Three Bears become?
What if frogs were persistence predators?
Butterfly Effect
Should the Butterfly effect exist within a real, living butterfly. Would our words not affect its course also? After all, voices are made from vibrations entering the air around us and traveling along the bumping of molecules. Wouldn’t that change the air currents, ever so slightly, and the way the butterfly goes would also change?
In that case, should we be more careful in the words we do or don’t say? The things we do, if even the tiniest movements could cause a change?
Morals
Are morals the result of human nature, upbringing, or society?
Are they innate forces dependent on some factor in our DNA which creates our conscious, or entirely based on the environment in which we were raised and the things we were exposed to, as well as our reactions to those?
Superstition
Why don’t more authors incorporate superstition into their worldbuilding?
It could be so useful in both adding fun bits of information and explaining away why people just Don’t Do That Sort of Thing.
What literary superstitions do you think would be interesting to read about?
Talk
What is your favorite thing to talk about?
Would you take a little time right now to tell me?
Immortality and Preservation
Would you choose to live forever, why or why not?
If you could take any one thing with you, be it a person, an object, an animal, whatever, what would it be? Why?
Or if you could preserve one place in time, rather than the whole world, would you? What place, and when? Why?
Would you rather remember everything you have ever learned and ever will learn, or not? Which do you think would be better?
Is Darkness Cold or Hot?
In real life, art, and literature, shadows and darkness is always depicted as ‘black as night’ and generally cooler than standing in the sunlight. Therefore the color black would be cooler.
But if you wear black clothing, or set something of darker colors out in the sun, it attracts the light and becomes much hotter than a lighter colored object.
So which is it?
Fireworks
Who on earth decided to make one of those things and why do we now use them for celebrations?
Why do authors describe kissing like fireworks? Sharp and painful and full of embers and burning paper? How is that enjoyable to anyone?
When did kissing on New Years even become a thing and why?
Culture
Culture shapes people, but people are responsible for creating the culture. Would a commoner from a larger or smaller community find it harder to make a change? Or would they both have equal difficulty?
Love
Why do people pursue relationships? What does it bring? At what cost?
