Okay I’m currently furious that migraines are often so blindly easy to treat and I had to find this out myself at the age of 26 when I’ve been to a neurologist since I was 11 lol so I’m about to teach you two neat and fast little tricks to deal with pain!
The first is the sternocleidomastoid muscle, or the SCM muscle.
This big red section is responsible for pain around the eye, cheekbone, and jaw, as well as some temple pain. Literally all you have to do is angle your head down a little, angle it away from the side that hurts, and then you can gently pinch and rub that muscle. I find it best to start at the bottom and travel upwards. The relief is so immediate! You can increase pressure as you feel comfortable doing so.
Here is a short and easy video showing this in action
The second is a fast and easy stretch that soothes your vagus nerve, which is the nerve responsible for calming you down. The vagus nerve, for those unfamiliar, is stimulated by deep breathing such as yawning, sighing, singing, or taking a deep breath to calm your anger in a tense situation.
You can stretch this out by sitting up as straight as possible (this does not have to be perfect to work) and interlacing your fingers. Put your hands on the back of your head with your thumbs going down the sides of your neck and, while keeping your face forward, look all the way to one side with just your eyes. Hold that until you feel the urge to breathe deeply or yawn, or until you can tell there’s a change. Then do the same thing on the other side. When you put your arms down, you should clearly be able to turn your head farther in both directions. If the first session doesn’t get rid of your migraine, rest and repeat as many times as necessary. I even get a little fancy with it and roll my eyes up and down along the outer edge sometimes to stretch as much as I can.
If you need a visual here’s a good video on it. I know some of the language they use seems questionable but this is real and simple science and should not be discarded because it’s been adopted by the trendy wellness crowd!
I seriously cannot believe I didn’t hear a word of this from any doctor in my life. Additionally, if you get frequent recurring migraines, you may want to see a dietician. Migraines can be caused by foods containing histamines, lectin, etc. and can also be caused by high blood pressure in specific situations such as exercise, stress, and even sex.
If any of this information helps you I’d love to hear it btw! It’s so so fast and easy to do. Good luck!
transformers is funny because it seems to be a simple niche interest but in reality its like if your hot wheels came with greek mythology
returning to this one more time to say that since posting this, people have compared it to other religious stories & mythology both here and on twitter, which is fine but whats really important is that i was thinking about it like this

All I want for Christmas: Part 3 - Mercury Montego Sportshauler, 1971. A concept car with a surprise in the trunk, the Sportshauler was modified to car a 6-wheel ATV. Presented at the Detroit an Chicago auto shows, the Sportshauler was an unlikely candidate for series production but is available as diecast scale model which would make a great Christmas gift

This is only a passing thought right now, but would people be interested if I wrote up a guide to Cybertronian anatomical/medical terminology and how to use that while writing?
I'm thinking mainly about it being helpful to people who want to include a bit (or a lot) of medical stuff in fics without having to get too bogged down in details.
I came up with a fair chunk of that for The Slope, but also I just have been writing speculative medicine for such a very long time and I realised that could be of use to people.
Also I guess if people were interested in "how to write plausible-sounding technobabble for medicine in scifi/fantasy" I could do that separately. Right now I have robots on the brain but in the past I've given a fair bit of thought to magic's impact on the body and to bug aliens.
Actually if you are interested in that - could you reblog this? I feel like I'll have a better idea of how much people want this if more people see it.
@bluebandedagate
Replies was too hard lol.
Ideally what I'd want is to try and make it easier for people to make stuff up themselves.
I'm definitely keen on drawing from canon but I think there's so much discrepancy between different continuities (and probably even within continuities) that trying to be totally canon-compliant is not worth it.
When you need technobabble (which this basically is) in my experience you often need it to accomplish something very specific and then you have to work backwards to fit the facts to your story.
I haven't thought that much about it yet but I think that's actually a simple enough skill to learn. It's not like we're doing human medicine, yknow? So I'd include everything I've made up or liked that other people made up, but I'd also like to think about how people can work out their own things.

Alfa Romeo Sprint 1.5, circa 1983. Today’s Tenerife car spot, an 1980’s Alfa from the boxer-engine era. Designed at Italdesign the Sprint was originally sold as an Alfasud Sprint but after 1983 the Alfasud model name was dropped. This one seems to be a local car as I’ve seen it several times, it’s in superb condition (must be garaged most of the time).

Not everyone has the time or the patience to read nearly 300 pages of fanfiction just for the lols, so here’s a comprehensive compilation of all the… theming I found during my read-through, in no particular order. What you choose to do with this information is completely up to you.
