Similarly - Tarvek's biggest archetype is not mad scientist. Tarvek is the mad scientist's beautiful daughter. Not by choice - dude loathes his family - but his family has been the biggest influence on shaping his character and that includes his efforts to avoid being them.

Agatha's character arc is built around mad science - her failure to be one at the beginning, the way being a mad scientist opens her up to danger, the mad scientist heritage that she tries to live up to in Mechanicsburg, trying to Science her way around her mother's control. Agatha is a Mad Scientist first, and the story is shaped by her learning to grow into that.
