Within the past 24 hours, I have learned that GHOST (voca producer I used to enjoy):
Is a weird racist loser who refuses to take accountability or get help for their issues (particularly towards black & indigenous people)
groomed fans on their Patreon Discord to get images of them for "reference purposes"
groomed other fans into being emotional support buddies for them (mostly teenagers which OBVIOUSLY festered a beyond parasocial environment that fucked up everyone involved)
wrote MULTIPLE SONGS (Spider On The Wall, Today, The Distortionist) about some of the teenagers they abused
Got a dogshit callout post made to harass Fish, a 14-year-old, offline (he apologised to GHOST publicly and privately for their fallout, GHOST was the one dragging it out) & cyberstalked him. Yes, most of the people involved in the harassment were 19-20 years old. Yes, they were going to make a Distortionist PV of the friend group boss-battling a caricature of a 14-year-old with mirrors to "teach him a lesson" but the idea never came together. Fucking cornballs
thinks people with NPD are automatically abusive because their abusive ex had NPD
despite using trigger warnings for every other song they've ever made, they got pissy with people who wanted a trigger warning for their CSA song & insinuated that THEY were triggering GHOST. The song Covetous was dropped on Valentine's Day & has a refrain with such terms as "rapetoy", "pedophile's child" and "slut". Wonder why people were so upset... truly a mystery...
harassed Creep-P a bunch when their friendship broke down in 2015 & didn't dissuade fans from harassing them either - this included packages being sent to their home, unsolicited contact, death threats, being blackmailed with materials of their own sex work (fun fact: this is revenge porn!! which is sexual abuse!!! what the fuck). GHOST has never apologised for this or acknowledged it & Creep-P has recently admitted themself into psychiatric care
poisoned their ex-roommate Enoch trying to clean nonexistent mould in their apartment & was responsible for multiple flare-ups of their POTS symptoms whilst they lived together. Was generally dismissive of their condition as well
It does suck because they were one of my art inspirations when I was younger & I used to draw a bunch of shit for them or inspired by them. One of my current OCs is loosely based on a COMMUNICATIONS character sooo she'll be needing a design overhaul but that's completely irrelevant to any of this shit I just wrote. Don't support this shit bro.
TL;DR GHOST is a racist groomer loser who harassed minors, wrote songs about minors he didn't like/fell out with & was also shitty to his own friends. They refuse to get help or take responsibility for this. Do not keep platforming them!!!
on twitter i posted a thread of the racist (and other questionable) shit ghost said on their bluesky before they deleted it (without any sort of apology or even acknowledgement)

i do want to add; they are clearly going through some mental shit, but thats not an excuse to act this way. they are 28 years old. this has been a cyclical pattern for over a decade of acting weird online, crying "ableism! its my disorders! this is harassment!" when called out for hurting others, purging accounts to erase evidence, and then disappearing long enough from social media for others to forget. it is not intrinsic to any disorder to be racist and refuse to apologise. if they actually felt bad, why did they delete their bluesky and dodge any accountability? its not parasocial or ableist to call someone out for being fucking weird.
carbon monoxide (part of the team who worked on QA) made two good threads, one talking about ghosts behaviour in regards to mental illness, as well as another talking about different treatment methods, because as long as youre still alive, there is always still hope. ghost comments abt being anti recovery and anti therapy put such a foul taste in my mouth.
there is a reason i have been gone from social media for basically years and havent posted. ive wanted to say something for so long, but i was so fucking scared. i think we all to some extent believed the lie that ghost is the ultimate victim who can do no wrong and any criticism towards them is ableism or harassment. i have more to say but thats what my doc will be for.

With this stuff coming out about vocaproducer Ghost, i am now no longer associating myself with them and their media anymore. I have since unsubscribed, and am no longer gonna cover their songs & no longer gonna draw anything of their characters, reference their works, etc.

the longer explanation:
Tumblr has changed reblogs to mirror that of twitter/x. Reblogs with commentary in the post (words/pics/etc) now work as "quoted posts" with an independent set of notes displayed for likes/reblogs/comments on the quoted post. This is effective immediately and is NOT retroactive.
While this is objectively good for opinion or discourse posts where the user rebloging is adding independent thought or opinion—it is bad for creators as it is not a true reflection of the reach of our posts.
New and smaller creators suffer the most. If someone with a bigger reach reblogs a small/new creator and leaves content/comments in the post of the reblog, further interactions with that reblog will be attributed to the reblog and not the original work. Meaning the artist is missing out on lots of feedback, praise, likes and motivational words that encourage them to continue or interact with the community.
This is bigger than caring about the amount of notes a post gets, even if it only gets 10 interactions, that creator should be able to see it and be attributed that.
