My favorite professor when I was going through undergrad often used the phrase "brushing against scar tissue".

Brushing against scar tissue was her way of describing things that weren't necessarily triggers in the mental health and trauma sense. But they were still close enough to deep personal injuries, while not actually being about such injuries or being even the same as the injury, that could illicit knee jerk negative reactions. These reactions often shut down individual growth, lead to miscommunication and arguing, and halt productive community conversation.

While I am fully aware some of the Discourse™ on social media are some mix of bad faith trolls that are only happy when making a mess and those who never got over the highschool trauma of not being appreciated for their Hashtag Deep Takes I can't help but feel like a majority of it is just well intentioned folks getting knotted up over scar tissue.

All this to just say maybe take a minute to ask if something needs a response or if this is you lashing out because it feels like scar tissue.

okay wow that is a MASSIVE generalization, the boat genus has evolved over thousands of years and consists of hundreds of subspecies many of which are perfectly capable of living as part of a balanced aquatic ecosystem. boats aren't automatically evil just because *you personally* think they're big and scary.

dreamed that kindergarten nap was called sleep class and everybody went to sleep including the teacher. if you were awake it would get a little bit foggy outside and grey and cloudy, and these guys would start approaching the classroom from behind the tree line (forgive my shitty phone drawing)

and they were at least a story tall, some of them were taller, you could see their legs over the trees. they would approach very slowly. this one (the one i drew) had a name for some reason, his name is kick.

before i was totally awake my brain conjured a meme of a bunch of these guys approaching from the treeline and a child watching from the window with the caption “when you the only one awake in sleep class 😂😳😏”

i'm begging you guys to start pirating shit from streaming platforms. there are so many websites where you can stream that shit for free, here's a quick HOW TO:

1) Search for: watch TITLE OF WORK free online

2) Scroll to the bottom of results. Click any of the "Complaint" links

3) You will be taken to a long list of links that were removed for copyright infringement. Use the 'find' function to search for the name of the show/movie you were originally searching for. You will get something like this (specifics removed because if you love an illegal streaming site you don't post its url on social media)

4) each of these links is to a website where you can stream shit for free. go to the individual websites and search for your show/movie. you might have to copy-paste a few before you find exactly what you're looking, but the whole process only takes a minute. the speed/quality is usually the same as on netflix/whatever, and they even have subtitles! (make sure to use an adblocker though, these sites are funded by annoying popups)

In conclusion, if you do this often enough you will start recognizing the most dependable websites, and you can just bookmark those instead. (note: this is completely separate from torrenting, which is also a beautiful thing but requires different software and a vpn)

you can also download the media in question (look for a "download" button built into the video window, or use a browser extension such as Video DownloadHelper.)
