“I get traditions when I see one, but I never really understood why Halloween is still celebrated this day. Hasn’t it just become a glorified excuse to eat candy and scare the living hell out of people?” Gideon asked, holding a plastic pumpkin in his hands he wasn’t even planning on buying -- although his apartment block had a lot of kids going trick-or-treating. He just .. Couldn’t get himself to go back there. “Isn’t this a kind of liberation day if you’re a witch or a vampire, though?”

“Oh —— oh that’s flippin’ cute, but no, no you’re wrong,” the hunter stated with a smile forming on her lips, head shaking from side to side. “Kelly’s got nothing on Eminem, anyone that has a logical understanding knows that Eminem literally ripped MGK a new one and you can not argue with that. Eminem won, end of discussion.”
“I -- What?” Gideon finally dared to ask after the other person in the conversation had walked off, muttering that in no WAY Eminem would win from Kelly. He probably went for a new drink, or figured he couldn’t win the discussion anyway. But Gideon? Gideon felt like he had ended up in a whole new universe. Who the hell was Kelly and who was Eminem? Wasn’t that a candy? The peanut and chocolate one? “What just happened?”

Brielle knew she had her work cut out for her when she was cornered in an alleyway with Cyrus against mere humans a week ago. She panicked and that would not do well for her considering how unstable things were in the city. Her magic could only get her so far, thus, she enrolled herself in some combat and defense privates and was currently wrapping up her session with her instructor. “By the time we’re done, I’ll be able to slay a dragon, right?”
“Definitely. If they’re small and cuddly.” He teased the woman, pulling the gloves from his hands. “We’ll make a warrior out of you. Mulan won’t have anything on you.” Giving her a pad on the back, he made his way off the mat, throwing her a bottle of water. Can I ask you something? And you can refuse to answer but -- why teach how to defend yourself when you’ve got magic?”

Marie did something that she normally would not have allowed herself to do. The human fell on her back in the middle of central park and stared up at the sky. A sigh escaped from her lips. It was all too confusing. It was all too real. Now the introduction of werewolves to the list of things kept from her, her entire life. She felt someone approaching. “You ever find out something and you wonder what else people have kept from you?” The brunette asked.
“Sounds serious.” Gideon watched the brunette, taking a seat next to her as he could hardly walk away after this. She seemed to be in distress, and if he could help by listening, wasn’t that worth it? “What happened? If I may ask?”

Adrenaline was a hell of a thing. An interesting choice of drug that Gianna Ivanov hadn’t realized she’d missed. Her sense were on overload. The sound of her heart pounding in her ears was thunderous. The sharp tang but faint smell of gunpowder with an overlaying smell of rain. Lucy, pressing against the small of her back still warm from putting a bullet in her would be mugger’s head. The bastard was lighter than she expected as she dragged in him into the alley. The blonde couldn’t remember the last she dealt with a body. The Family had cleaners for that. @yael-jacobs, @gidxnystrom
“Fuck.” Fuck. Had she just said that aloud? Yael couldn’t help but stare wide eyed at the blonde woman dragged the man into the alley across the street from where Yael had just been walking. She shouldn’t be seeing this. She didn’t know what to do but felt that familiar paralyzed feeling she’d grown accustomed to of late. The woman looked familiar but she couldn’t tell–– she didn’t know for sure and she’d just caught a glimpse before everything unfolded before her and “fuck.” Shit. Hand flew to her mouth as the word left her lips and she gave away her presence almost certainly, if she hadn’t already the first time she spoke involuntarily.

It felt odd being back in his apartment, or rather, being back in the building, after what happened recently. He told himself to mind his own business from now on, since last time he minded someone else’s, he lost his fangs. But when the sound of something heavy dragging over pavement caught his attention, he made himself look through the window. He recognised her right away -- hard to forget someone who called him boy scout all the time. So she was a killer, there shouldn’t be anything left to surprise him anymore, but the man’s face was one he recognised, one he knew wasn’t easy to kill. Or at least, not as easy as she thought. And now there was a witness. “Fuck.” He swore under his breath, pulling on the shirt he’d been holding as the shower’s heat was still on his skin. There was no way he couldn’t intervene here. @giaivan

Natalya doubled her scarf around her neck to chase away the bite of the New York air. She while didn’t necessarily consider them friends, the woman liked Gideon. She respected him as a doctor and felt as though he was a genuinely good person. “Yeah, of course,” the shapeshifter nodded, digging her keys out of her coat pocket. It clearly had to be something important if he’d waited until after their shifts to approach her. “My place isn’t that far from here if you don’t mind,” the surgeon offered.
“Thank you.” He uttered after her response, at least glad she would even let him do his story. At her offer, Gideon nodded, sticking his hands into his pockets, even if the cold didn’t bother him. “Sounds good. Lead the way.” Talking at her home was most likely better than talking out here in the open. The wrong ears might catch the conversation and there would be trouble. He’d rather not compel people to forget. “How was your shift?”

Imperial Spain — 1522
The Spanish Empire was flourishing as conquests had been made in the New World, taking down the Aztec, Maya and Inca civilizations that caused the an extreme economic boom. While something dark felt as though it was brewing within the lands of Europe, Casper was doing his best to find his niche within each town or city visited. The Empire was being established, previously the Kingdom of Castle, and held the most amount of interest to the original. He met with lavish individuals, made new friends in theater, and never turned down an invitation to a party. He hardly told a sole about his true origins and the topic of being natively from France was only occasionally a sore subject, although that was hard to hide from. Not all cared about the Franco-Spain wars until the Bordeaux would starting winning in his gambling bets and slurs would ooze from their lips. Sly smiles were all that they would be met with and maybe a couple sarcastic comments, but Casper always knew he was his own arsenal. More often than not, they would take their losses and move on. Casper sometimes tossing them a few as ‘thanks for the good game’, hoping the other wouldn’t find it as an insult.
Low and behold, the original found himself amongst party-goers who believed that God made wine for consumption in moderation. It seemed to be fairly traditional for Spaniards and Casper easily accepted it. “Another round*,” the original waved his hand into air in a circle before his emerald eyes looked back down at his cards. His face held an almost worried expression, jostling the small stack of coins in front of him before finally making a decision. He tossed one and took another, knocking lightly on the table to inform his opponent he had reached gin. “Looks as though my luck is changing*,” his words were almost too knowing and the stack of bet coins was at its largest, clearly having played a perfect hand. The man’s face suddenly became flushed, eyebrows turning inward with a scowl before the shouts began, “Tramposo!**”
@gidxnystrom
So far, all Gideon had seen was where Casper brought him. He learned customs, languages and cultures from every country and especially learned more about his species, about how the world was actually put together. The Spanish Empire brought him back home, having victories and conquering countries like his people once did. He didn’t really have the time to get to know the community and everything around him, as he mostly accompanied Casper during his card games. He never really saw the appeal to them, or to gambling money, and so he only accompanied him to make sure he didn’t get himself into trouble.
Trouble didn’t seem to be headed far when Casper, of what he assumed, had won another round. The smugness in his voice was easily noticed. Now, Gideon hadn’t yet been able to learn the Spanish language, and what the man shouted was beyond is knowledge, but he didn’t appreciate the fact that he was shouting, and the tone of his voice. He instinctively went forwards, glaring at the Spaniard as he stood next to Casper. He’d sworn not to do harm, but if he had to knock a few heads to make sure Casper remained unharmed, so be it. Even if he might be one of the most powerful people on this earth.
josefinexgatti:
She sat alone at the bar, torso pitched forwards and her elbow atop the smooth surface with the edge of her palm on her browbone, eyes unfocused and mind wandering. On her other hand, she idly turned the newly returned daylight ring on her finger with her thumb. Mallory left it on her desk while she was out without so much as a note, but that much was to be expected–Josefine was surprised she relented and returned it in the first place, anything more would have probably been out of character. Either way, nagging thoughts of the entire situation kept her mind occupied and glass of red wine untouched, her eyes glassy and expression blank and distant until a noise at her side caught her attention.
“Didn’t expect to see you here,” she said thickly, sitting up as she spoke. The vampire managed a half-hearted, brief smile, sure she recognized them from somewhere.
“Anywhere else and people would know where to find me.” Gideon spoke, sitting down besides the woman he’s met on multiple occasions. He still hadn’t gotten used to the false teeth in his mouth, the ones that were where his fangs once were. Despite the fact he’d cleared himself -- his identity safe and the fact that nobody would know what happened to him -- besides those he told or the one who did it to him -- he was angry. Bitter and ready to drop his promise to himself and live by the motto ‘eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth.’ Quite literally at that. Now no matter how much he’d consume in a human bar, he wouldn’t be able to get drunk and be able to forget, but at least there was the pleasant distraction that came in Josefine’s shape. “You okay?”
mallorybordeaux:
“Of course, we will. We made the Dark Ages fun,” she chuckled, brushing the hair from her face as she looked up at him. Words had never been truer. Regardless, of the circumstances—whether it be time or environment—she and Gideon could always find a way to enjoy one another’s company. It was one of the many things that made their friendship timeless.“You’d absolutely be a big sap. But then again, it’d hardly be anything new. You can have your popcorn as long my flickering toy also makes obnoxious noises.”
“That’s an understatement.” They were pretty much the life of the party. She’d known immortality longer than he had and he was learning the full extent of it yet, but Mallory had certainly been a focal point in his life. It was important to him that she was still there at his side. “If it doesn’t make the noises, I’ll make them for you.” He laughed, making way towards the entrance again. “It’ll be great, and if not we can act like the teens nowadays and throw popcorn at people.”
CJ had left, and though Gideon appreciated the Huntress’ help immensely, he felt a certain pressure depart along with her. He felt vulnerable as it was, with his current position and the fact he was now a poor excuse of a vampire, having to admit that to a Rhodes Hunter was terrible enough. He was glad to just be with a friend now. He would just try and pretend that he was walking in her home... A cold home with corpses and he was barefoot, still with a horrible taste in his throat and a starting hunger for blood, one he was trying his hardest to suppress. “Thank you for helping me out. You two won’t get into trouble for this, right?” @kindlykiara
“Hey, might you have a minute?” Gideon asked, voice lowered as he met the woman at the hospital’s exit. He knew that she had finished from work, in fact he’d stolen a peak from the roster and waited for her. It painful how much of an amateur he felt at the moment, not knowing what or who he could reach out to for his current problem. Natalya was a desperate last attempt before he had to go mundane, and that would be a long period existing of him explaining things he didn’t really want to discuss. Now it wasn’t Natalya’s area of expertise, but the fact that they knew the other’s identity and that, maybe, she might know a guy or be able to wing it at the least made him desperate enough. “Somewhere private?” @natalyasankara
