Belly Conklin & Jeremiah Fisher in THE SUMMER I TURNED PRETTY 3.03 | Last Supper (2025)
bellyjere’s songs being daylight, birds of a feather, delicate, XO, tiebreaker. the recurring imagery of brightness and letting light into the dark and lifelong love? the way it fits their best friends and lovers dynamic so well, the way their love is golden and full of brightness… “your love is bright as ever, even in the shadows” “i once believed love would be burning red, but it’s golden like daylight” says it all. they will ALWAYS be the true lovers of the show to me

Jere haters be like:
“Ugh, jerk — didn’t even get on one knee or give her a ring.”
Next episode: does all that — “Ring’s too small, he’s a broke loser with no job.”
Next episode: Jere gets a job — “What a clown, everyone’s laughing at him because he’s useless, now Belly has to work two jobs!”
Next episode: Jere works and actually does well — “Scumbag, abandoned Belly during wedding prep.”

The “ridiculous” scene. It’s like, look where we started, and look where we are now.
the fact that it happens in the pool — the same place where they first kissed — is no accident. That kiss was a turning point. That’s where the pull between them became undeniable. That’s where Belly really started wanting Jere and she’s been returning to that moment ever since
And I don’t think the point of that scene was just them laughing at Conrad, not at all. It was about how deeply they love each other, and how absurd it is that anyone would call that ridiculous.
It’s that vibe of “What do they even know about us?” Like, how could anyone look at two people who love each other that much and say it’s silly that they want to get married?
I can’t stop thinking about how much this must hurt Jere right now. Like — on one hand, he’s so in love. She loves him back. She’s choosing him openly, fiercely, without shame.
And he’s grateful. He’s happy. He’s never felt this seen, this wanted, this safe.
But at the same time? It’s killing him to watch her go through this. To see how hard she has to fight just to defend something as simple and beautiful as their love.
To see her standing alone against people who are supposed to support her, who look at him and say he’s not enough.
He’s used to being underestimated. He’s been laughed at, pushed aside, made to feel small his whole life.
But seeing her take that heat? Watching the person he loves be doubted, shamed, picked apart — just for loving him? That’s a different kind of pain.
He’d take it all on himself if he could. But all he can do is stand there, love her harder, and hope it’s enough.
This song is literally about him
