“Yeah, no worries, I know what you’re like when you’re surrounded by books. Besides, you can’t knock me down that easily,” Brooks joked, giving his ex-girlfriend a playful wink. “Is it just me, or is this place like a maze, though? Are you guys trying to prevent customers from leaving book hell?”
Gillian smiled and shook her head. Brooks always had a way of making her feel completely at ease, even when he wasn’t trying. “Well, I’m glad to hear that,” she said. “Well, I wouldn’t necessarily call it a maze. The shelves just happen to be really high, and that means that some people can’t see their way around.”
Araminta was on her tippy-toes, trying to reach for a book that was a little high on the shelf for her. Just a little more—if she’d been in the right shoes, she wouldn’t have hesitated going en pointe. She was too focused on trying to get the book that she failed to notice the other girl, and at the small collision, she let out a small yelp. Araminta stumbled back but kept her balance, straightening her clothes as she regained her composure. “I’m alright, but you probably shouldn’t go around bumping into customers.”
Of all the people Gillian expected to see in her bookstore that day, Araminta certainly wasn’t one of them. Sure, Araminta’s family owned the mall that the bookstore was located in, but Gillian always that Araminta had better things to do than to buy physical books. “Alright, okay,” Gillian said. “Though I actually have today off. I just really like the discounts they give me, so I came buy to pick up a birthday gift for my dad. What are you doing here?”
“i went through my own personal grieving process, just as everyone else. though i didn’t cry all that much, i sure wasn’t happy that he was gone. is it that obvious?”
which one of the windsors would you date? and which one of the nietzches?
“well, if i had choose a windsor, maybe araminta? she’s really pretty. and of the nietzsches, probably mars or wesley? no offense to alek, but i just don’t think he’s my type.”
thoughts on your ex boyfriend possibly being murdered?
“i’m inclined to believe that this is all a misunderstanding, and that he really did die in a car crash. however, dante was not the most kind person, and i definitely see why someone would think that there was foul play involved.”
jini has always been those people who loved the harry potter franchise but has also never picked up one of the books. she never really planned on reading it, at most considering to purchase the audio book, but that changed after leaving school. she was in her english class and the professor asked everyone what they read over the summer. she was the only one without an answer. it caused her to wonder how important reading was. so, she went to the nearest bookstore and decided to purchase the series. she was just about to grab the set when she felt a jolt, ❝ you’re good, ❞ she laughed, collecting herself and looking over to see gilly, ❝ oh, hey, gilly! i’m fine; are you okay? ❞
Gillian smiled widely when she realized that it was Jini that she had bumped in to. “Oh my god, Jini, I haven’t seen you all summer,” she said. “I’m good, but how have you been? How was your vacation? You need to tell me everything.”
Most people wouldn’t dare go near their place of work when they were off-duty, but Gillian was different. Sure, being a cashier at a bookstore was about as glamorous as any other minimum-wage job, but Gillian genuinely loved being surrounded by books, and the substantial employee discount she got at the store was a pretty good incentive. She walked along one of the shelves, staring at the spines until she bumped into someone at the end of the row. “Holy crap, I am so sorry. Sometimes I just get so distracted I just...” she said. “Are you okay?”
Trying to catch up on a few lost months of school work a few weeks before he was due to go back was proving slightly more difficult for Ethan than he expected. Grumbling to himself under his breath, scowling at some math problem he stopped caring about as soon as he saw it, he slammed his pencil down in the library before googling the answer. “What use is learning this with all the answers available anyway?”
As Ethan’s voice rang out in the otherwise quiet library, Gillian’s eyes darted around the space, looking for the librarian. She’d been yelled at two hours ago for tapping her pencils too loud, and she did not want to be yelled at again. “Math may suck, but it’s important for real life,” Gillian whispered to Ethan. “Like, for tipping and stuff.”
“According to the horoscope app on my phone, I should have stayed home today, and I really wish I had just listened,” Wesley sighs, slumping his shoulders. “Call me paranoid, but I feel like people are giving me looks. You know, suspicious looks, and I can’t help but think it’s because of Dante…” The Nietzsche scratches the back of his neck nervously. “I’m just worried they might think I had something with… that.”
Gillian laughed softly. “Trust me, I don’t think anybody suspects you of having anything to do with that,” she said. “Dante had a lot of enemies, and you’re probably one of his least dangerous ones.” If Gillian had to guess, she would probably say that Dante was killed by one of his own Windsors. They certainly seemed the most capable of any wrongdoing.
hey it’s ya girl nia, here with an oc i probably shouldn’t be creating lmao. but i realized that my sweetheart gilly would be perfect for this rp with only a few minor tweaks, so here we go. her 3 headcanons are on this page, but below the cut are some basic bullet points/wcs. as always, pls like or dm if you wanna plot!
name: gillian blair scott (gilly to her friends)
age: 17
gender: cis girl, she/her pronouns
clubs: band, poetry club, book club
sexuality: bisexual
connection: the ex-girlfriend #3
gillian was raised by a teacher father and a nurse mother, making her very solidly middle class. her parents were both people who struggled to show their emotions, but they truly did love their daughter. however, that also means that gillian is the kind of person who will repress everything instead of feeling it.
she came to houghton on scholarship after she wowed the selection committee with both her academic skill and her violin skill.
she’s a whole violin prodigy and would want to become a concert violinist or a music teacher one day.
before dating dante, she wasn’t unpopular, just unknown. she was shy, and she often let herself fade into the background.
however, dante took an interest in her, and when they dated during sophomore year, she was catapulted to popularity.
she wasn’t a bully, but she definitely was too afraid to stand up to dante because he was one of the few people in her life who would tell her that he cared about her instead of expecting her to know it, which was important to her.
for the first two years at houghton, she pretended that she was one of the rich. however, after she broke up with dante, word got out that she was a scholarship student. she isn’t sure if it was him who revealed it or someone who had an agenda against her, but right now, she doesn’t care because she just wants to go to college
since breaking up with dante, she’s not neither popular nor unpopular, but more people are making rumors about her and questioning why she’s so quiet all the time than she’d like
overall she’s just this quiet girl who wants to mind her own business. she isn’t great at making friends or reaching out to people, but she tries to be nice, and she’s definitely trying to make amends for all of the times that she just stood by and did nothing while dante tortured half of the school.
kinda irrelevant but she works at a bookstore and she loves her job uwu
plots:
best friend: one of the few people that gillian is close too. she doesn’t open up to a lot of people, but she opens up to them.
unlikely friend: someone who is gilly’s complete opposite, but they’re friends anyways.
fake friends: someone who’s only friends with her because they want something from her (to cheat off of her homework, maybe?)
former “friends”: people that used to be nice to her because she was dating dante, but they’re not so nice now that dante’s gone
enemies: academic rivals? someone who sees her as an easy target because she’s dante’s disgraced ex-girlfriend AND a scholarship student?
crush: someone who may have a crush on her or she has a crush on them? i’m a sucker for pining
