You have been visited by the Chan of wealth, reblog this and you will have money come to you!
I REBLOGGED THIS YESTERDAY AND LIKE 2 HOURS LATER THE WALLET I HAD LOST 6 HOURS AWAY FROM HOME THAT HAD MY DEBIT CARD AND LIKE 80 DOLLARS IN CASH WAS DELIVERED TO MY HOUSE WITH NO RETURN ADDRESS I CANT HELP BUT THINK IT WAS JACKIE CHAN WHO SENT IT GOD BLESS YOU JACKIE CHAN
*When You Donāt Know What To Practice*
No matter how many corrections you get in class
Or how many things you know you need to improve⦠When it comes to working at home
One of the biggest, and most common, barriers Is not being sure what to actually practice!
Itās hard sometimes to choose a specific focus
Or to know exactly how to fix something
So often Youāll find youāre just running through your dances, trying hard of course, but not necessarily changing anything
And really
Just practising bad habits even more!
But I feel like Itās less not knowing WHAT to practice
And more not being sure HOW to
So my advice is thisā¦
Pick something in your dancing you wish to work on, and actually think about the process behind improving it
Break it down to the finest detail
The very beginning of the movement
And start from there!
For example if you know that the biggest flaw in your dancing is your turnout
And youāve been trying to improve it just by, literally, trying harder
Then backtrack Ask yourself what you need to change in your movement to make it better
Do things in slow motion
Give your brain a clear instruction!
What do you physically need to do with your body, and think about when you dance, in order to make your feet look more turned out?
Then once you have a decided actionā¦
Solely focus on that!
Keeping things that simple will give you a lot more clarity and motivation
Bearing in mind also, that thereās probably exercises you could be doing that will improve that aspect further
So if an actual practice isnāt on the cards
A workout, that is going to serve a similar purpose, could be instead :) (For example the first phase of my programme is geared entirely towards improving mobility, core recruitment and glute strength; which fixes a tonne of technique flaws!) So just ensure youāre being purposeful with what youāre doing
Not just going through the motions
And your practices will be a lot more productive!

I hope you fall in love with dance. I hope you fall in love so hard that it fills all of the dark places in your soul With so much light. That you find a sudden strength that gives you the power to fight Through difficult times.
When we were young we were dazzled by these unreachable champions. They wore beautiful dresses and they flew like birds across the stage. We never could see the hours of practice and injuries at that age. We only saw power and grace perfected.
There was so much love in that young, pigeoned toed dancerās heart. All she wanted to do was learn how to fly too. How to learn to be a musician with her feet. Creating rhythms that feel like a heart beat. It was that little girlās everything Always keeping her awake at night with dreams.
And now she is older, she is you. Standing before a mirror and not sure on what to do. Youāre tired and it feels like those dreams seemed to slip away You canāt pin point when or what day But somehow they did. And youāre starting to feel undone. As if failure has won.
But hope is not lost. I hope the missing puzzle piece hits you one day, When you finish that move you have been working months on. When you finally get it and the pride comes rushing in. When you finally win that 1st. Let it all rush in and never let it go.
I hope you fall head over heels for dance once more. Eager to walk through the studioās doors And make yourself into exactly who that little girl knew you could be. Because you can.
I hope you fall so in love that it becomes the reason you breathe. That it fills you with so much fulfillment and happiness, That the blisters and bruises just donāt matter. Because you proved that you could do it.
I hope that all of that love and passion pays off. That one day, you will get that recall. That you might find yourself on that podium. Or whatever goal you dreamed of at night, while you ran through your steps in your head. Right before bed, Every night you saw yourself in that place.
I hope it becomes more than just a dream. Because you have it in you. I know you do. The little girl knows you do. Do you?
When we were young, we dreamed of high kicks, but never imagined the pain. When we were young, we dreamed of perfect rhythms, but never imagined the late night drills. When we were young, we dreamed of straight backs, but never imagined sweaty pre-dawn sit ups. When we were young, we dreamed of flying, but never imagined the price of landing. When we were young, we dreamed of smiling atop a podium, but never imagined the tears that led the way. We still dream of being champions, but canāt imagine, donāt realise, that we already are.
I sat on the train and made myself tear up writing this. Itās not oireachtas season for me, but this one goes out to all of you. X (via littleamy)
I needed this
I needed this, too!!
So I have a question for the Irish dance community
I am a senior dancer (21) who started Irish dance at 18 (although I had done plenty of ballet before then) and I am in the process of working my way up the levels of competition. Iām getting close to the point where I should probably start thinking about getting a solo dress, but the prices of even the used ones are way too high for me currently. However, I do have sewing experience and enough money for fabric and rhinestones. My question is, has anyone here made their solo dress/know anyone who has? Like I just donāt even know if this is a thing people do, and Iād love to hear about the experience. Since Iām a bit of an older dancer I kind of want something a little more toned down anyway. Any thoughts?
Can anyone give tips on skirts? My mock up bodice and sleeves are amazing. The skirtā¦yeah
Yeah @velocidancerĀ ! You might want to read these threads first (including the comments):Ā
http://www.dance.net/topic/10106100/1/Irish-Dressmakers-Costumers/Skirt-underside-pictures.html
and
http://www.dance.net/topic/9713199/1/Irish-Dressmakers-Costumers/Much-ado-about-Stiffener.html
Now, my corrections to the structure (Iām an active dressmaker):
1) The distance between the bodiceās side seam and the skirtās front panel side is 2-2,5 inches, not 1 cm or whatever as they say on dance.net ^^^.Ā
2) I make the back panel and the side pleat detail as a single detail, combined:
(this is a picture from dance.net)
(this is the way I make it)
3) I use the lightest stabilizer with plastic corset bones on the sides and horizontally (you may use 2, not 3 bones) to support the structure. The only section youāll have to stabilize more with a stiff material is here:
and youāll bend it manually along the line where the details meet, this has to be stiff and support itself. No corset bones are needed in the back panels.
This stabilized section will be the only 4 inches of the supporting panels that are difficult to attach to the bodice and you can stitch them manually using larger needles and a thimble (re: plenty of tearsĀ @redhairgreendress ;) )
More pictures of this skirt:
@moveslikegatsby Ā @worthallthetreble @grumpy-faced-piper
Wow Olena, thats amazing!! I used the stiffener for the front pleads (i have a bigger butt and stiff panels would stick out in the back) and about four layers of tulle to support its volume:
I pleated the skirt as usual, literaly made the shape of the front and ironed the 2mm thick stiffener on it, then folded the fabric in and sewn through the edge to secure it. Then I made the two halves of the back (for the opening of the zipper to be added later) and sewn everything together.
@tcrgadventures might have some advice on the subject
the above photo comments are great visual steps for creating your skirt. If your unsure of the angles, spend some time working on half of the skirt from the front half to the back half, folding theĀ ākick pleatsā to your liking. Iāve always worked with a straight seam where the bodice & skirt meet. The seven gates designs are what most, if not all, dress makers base their basic pattern off of.
Good luck!
This is the money Patrick. Reblog so money will come your way

Playgrounds designed for seniors have caught on in Asia and Europe and are beginning to make their way across the Big Pond. The parks include low-impact exercise equipment such as elliptical machines, static bikes and body flexors and are intended to help promote balance and flexibility. Better balance means fewer falls, goes the reasoning. Another benefit of the senior parks is that they serve as a community gathering spot, combatting the isolation and loneliness some seniors experience. (Source)
Fuck yes. Do this shit. Put it everywhere. Let them have something fun for the love of god. Make seniors happy. Let them feel like kids. Encourage them to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Promote social fun instead of sitting in a room together. And just in case of those falls, put emergency call boxes on location, if theyāre public people will use them
Your telling me America didn't have these ??
Literally me
Whilst in Sydney in 1994, a man apparently tries to assassinate Prince Charles. And not a single fuck was given by His Royal Highness.
(x)
Iām dead at his face in the last one like āDid you even try?ā
And then when he gets pushed heās like āWait no let him try!ā
his composure is just everything I aspire to be
OMG ITāS BACK!
CHARLES IS THE BEST OMG
Like how he stands there as if, āOkay, Iāll be perfectly still and weāll see if you can hit me this time. Come on, it is like Iām giving you a head start.ā Heās more annoyed with his cuff link than the wanna be assassin.
FOREVER REBLOGGING THIS.
THIS is how you deal with terrorists
Even if you go down you did it with dignity.
You all do know who his mother is right? You know the woman who stayed home during the bombing of London and drove Jeeps in WW2. They are trained to be final boss overlord level composed at age 2.

His sister, Princess Anne, was the victim of an attempted kidnapping. The guy pointed a gun at her and told her to get out her car. She replied: āNot bloody likely.ā And tried to kick him.
A second recording of my first slip jig, on a grand piano at the senior center across the street from me. I just had to record something (with my crappy iPod mic of course).
