hey folks, i just wanna clear things up

i hate nazis with a thousand burning suns. despite the post I shared, in no way did i really endorse the opinion that bullying nazis “makes us look bad”. however, radicalization is a major problem right now especially to the impressionable young. but i wouldn’t go as far to say that we’re also bad for saying “kys” to one. nazis have indeed done way worse than us

im a queer brown woman of colour, and ive been to the front lines of direct action. i have had people come up to me and say racist things and have been called a terrorist by my own school. i’ve literally stared down at neo-nazis, MAGAs, colonialists, and im more likely to die by hate crime than a white person. to be called a performative ally despite the work i do with human rights organizations and action groups feels undermining

should nazis drop dead? absolutely because they are nothing but full of hate and they likely want ME dead

but we should at least make an effort to stop radicalization or else many other people are going to die at the hands of nazis. especially in the wake of christchurch

the whole premise of the purge is inherently flawed. it assumes that crime happens because people just want to commit it, when actually most crime is a symptom of societal disenfranchisement.

yeah, maybe some sociopathic white frat boys would go around terrorizing people because they know there won’t be any consequences, but really, how is that any different than normal?

That’s LITERALLY how it happens/is acknowledged IN The Purge franchise.

In the franchise it’s literally revealed that the stuff about the Purge being to release our instincts and so on is just government propaganda and that it’s really intended to be a scenario to further brutalize and cull the disenfranchised poor, spec. Brown and Black people. In fact in the SECOND movie alone it’s literally revealed that wealthy white people have been hiring people to capture victims to torment during the Purge because NOT ENOUGH violence and killing [of minorities] is happening (since, again, the release of instincts is just propaganda and not how most people are) …and bc u know they’re amoral rich whites who get off on tormenting vulnerable ppl but yeah

The movies also show that 1) most “normal” people are just trying to get through the night alive, OR are busy helping others in need that night, inc. committing the crimes of providing people with illegal medical services, etc. 2) there’s actually an anti-Purge movement IN SERIES BASED ON THE FACT that that’s not how crime works and that the Purge is just a governmental excuse to further brutalize the marginalized

and even in the first movie the antagonists are a bunch of amoral rich white youths who wanted to terrorize a homeless black man so the implications were always there So…

What frustrates me about the Eggboy gofundme is not me being personally frustrated with the boy himself (who I’ve heard is donating the money to Christchurch victims, great) but the selective, measurable willingness of people to donate to causes they find worthy (i.e. a white boy cracking an egg on a racist vs families of an Islamophobic massacre/a Muslim woman confronting a woman with Islamophobic rhetoric)
