JOMP Book Photo Challenge - March - 19/03/25 - Pretty Dress On The Cover
Long Live Evil by Sarah Rees Brennan - if someone would offer you the chance to be reincarnated in your favourite fantasy world, would you do it and where would you end up?
I wish Jay Gatsby had one friend who said, "Are you nuts? Move on with your life!" From my new post on The Great Gatsby at macrolit.books IG.
April 2026 TBR stack 📚
To be honest, I am not really focusing on a TBR this month. I compiled this stack purely based around the books that are grabbing my attention on my shelves at the moment and I've wanted to read for a while, included in other stacks, and just haven't gotten around to yet.
JOMP BPC - 11th April - Book Best Friend
There's a really compelling friendship between two men at the heart of this lovely book - and a lot of crop circles. Pictured with a little clump of forget-me-nots that self-seeded in the garden - a gift from a passing bird, I guess.
A fun bookshop stop. The coolest lady was playing sax right at the corner, and you can smell all the glorious street foods from the market nearby.

1960s stories about darkness hidden behind manicured lawns? The soul-crushing routine of commuting? The desperate yearning for "something" even as you appear to have everything?

i think some of you dont like narratives or stories or characters i think you just like fanfiction tropes
protagonists can and will be sexist, racist, insensitive, cruel, stupid, etc, especially towards the beginning of a story. these are called character flaws and they are a surprise tool that will lead to narrative fulfillment later
And sometimes "narrative fulfillment" doesn't mean "the character overcomes their flaws" or even "the antihero is punished for their flaws"! sometimes it means the narrative says "wow was that fucked up or what? anyway i'm rod sterling"
Unsure how I feel about novels with reimagined backstories for real-life historical individuals/events. But this was an okay read anyway. I suppose I'm making The Scarlet Letter my next read!! Other than reading, I worked on my commonplace this weekend. Also dusted out my shelves because Spring!! 🌷🌞
The Scarlet Letter is one of my favourite classics. I hope you enjoy it!!
developed a real fondness lately for characters who experience a horrific act of violence and come out the other side saying "ah. I don't think I get to be me anymore. they took out the part that was me, killed it, and put something else back in its place, and now I'm whoever the hell that is." love it when someone becomes a corpse and replaces themself <3
Actually you SHOULD make problematic content. You SHOULD explore dark or taboo topics. You SHOULD have a space where you can cope with your traumas or explore sensitive topics in a way that doesn't hurt anyone.

#allthebooksof2016 day 2: shortest book you read • It was actually a reread for school (you can see my post-its poking out) and it was even better the second time around with the analysis and discussion.
