I love how @amazingphil was genuinely worried about his ghostly wardrobe if he’d died XD
But in all seriousness I’m glad he’s okay, and went to get all those tests done. I have fainted before (from a concussion, and then other reasons) and it is NOT a good thing to have happen. Very serious - so I’m glad he went to get checked out. Stay healthy Phil!
LET 👏 RETAIL 👏 EMPLOYEES 👏 SIT 👏
The only major chain retail store that I know of that allows their cashiers to sit is the Aldi grocery store, a German chain. Their starting pay is also $12 an hour chain-wide.
The interior of the store looks like this so they save money on the annoying shelf restocking. Products remain in their boxes until being removed by customers. No unboxing and putting stuff on shelves, and constantly having to rearrange it. Also, the boxes make inventory a breeze as a sealed box has a defined number of items in it.
Typical American grocery stores have shelves like this
Every item has to be unboxed and neatly stacked on the shelves. If they get messed up by the customers, everything has to be rearranged back to specific rigid order. When you have to verify the inventory, every item has to be removed from the shelves to be counted and put back. Aldi’s also do not have plastic bags. You can buy reusable bags or simply use the empty cardboard boxes that are available.
Last is the carts. Most grocery stores have their carts strewn across the parking lots, rolling around and hitting cars until a store employee is sent out to collect them, after being yelled at by the manager when they were told to do other tasks in the meantime. Aldi’s chains those carts together and you have to put a Quarter in to release it. When you are done, you plug the chain back in and get your Quarter back. If others are lazy, you can collect and return the loose carts and collect the Quarters.
It stops this…
Then the employees have to do this
reblogging this because I love Alidis
With the exception of the shelf stacking, all of this is totally normal in every single supermarket chain in the UK… what the heck America
Same for Germany… why would you make it any more complicated than that. Just. Why not let them sit??
They’re not normal for no reason. The right to sit during work seems normal for most retail workers in these countries because they are it is part of the labor rights that have been won by unions. Sometimes the right to sit was won in an agreement with the store and sometimes it was put down in national laws.
For example, in the UK your employer legally has to provide you with a comfortable seat if you do work that can be done while seating. In the Netherlands you have to be provided a seat if you work at a cash register for more than 4 hours a day or for more than 1 hour uninterrupted.
Unionize.
America’s Unions got killed.

It’s going to be okay. Today may be the worst day of your life - but tomorrow won’t be. Life is a series of ups and downs, and that means there’s going to be good and bad. Drink some water, let yourself cry if you need to, and get a good night’s sleep. You’ll feel better in the morning.

The stop-motion animation is just amazing for this. That alone makes this video awesome, but then there’s Zomby Gaga! Please give it a watch.
(PS: I made all these GIFS ^_^)
How are they doing this stop motion. How. Is it voodoo?
It’s just the dolls!
except for the big dance scenes, their torsos are foam armatures.
These ghouls look amazing! I wish they sold them in these outfits. I LOVE the Clawdeen and Draculaura.

I want the dolls that are on the podiums in the beginning.
There’s a song that’s been proven to reduce anxiety by 65%. It’s called Weightless by Macaroni Union, and it was specifically designed to slow your heart rate, reduce blood pressure, and lower cortisol levels. It’s so effective that it’s dangerous to drive while listening to it because it can make you drowsy. Source Source 2 Source 3
YO O_O
I knew within seconds that I’d heard this before.
It was one of the first Tumblr posts I favorited.
Sound therapists and Manchester band Marconi Union compiled the song. Scientists played it to 40 women and found it to be more effective at helping them relax than songs by Enya, Mozart and Coldplay. Weightless works by using specific rhythms, tones, frequencies and intervals to relax the listener. A continuous rhythm of 60 BPM causes the brainwaves and heart rate to synchronise with the rhythm: a process known as ‘entrainment’. Low underlying bass tones relax the listener and a low whooshing sound with a trance-like quality takes the listener into an even deeper state of calm. Dr David Lewis, one of the UK’s leading stress specialists said: “‘Weightless’ induced the greatest relaxation – higher than any of the other music tested. Brain imaging studies have shown that music works at a very deep level within the brain, stimulating not only those regions responsible for processing sound but also ones associated with emotions.” The study - commissioned by bubble bath and shower gel firm Radox Spa - found the song was even more relaxing than a massage, walk or cup of tea. So relaxing is the tune, apparently, that people are being Rex advised against listening to it while driving. The top 10 most relaxing tunes were: 1. Marconi Union - Weightless 2. Airstream - Electra 3. DJ Shah - Mellomaniac (Chill Out Mix) 4. Enya - Watermark 5. Coldplay - Strawberry Swing 6. Barcelona - Please Don’t Go 7. All Saints - Pure Shores 8. AdelevSomeone Like You 9. Mozart - Canzonetta Sull’aria 10. Cafe Del Mar - We Can Fly
One of the comments suggests pairing it with Rainymood.
The combined calm might be weaponized with adding this song and some crackling fire.
When I was literally unable to sleep at all, my senior at work gave me this song to listen to!
My wife uses this song when she’s having near-meltdown levels of anxiety right before bed and it helps her relax and shed some of that stress enough for her to attempt to lie down and sleep.
I was very skeptical at first but then pleased wen I hit play and it wasn’t a link to Cotton Eye Joe.
I accidentally stumbled on that song a couple weeks ago, I’ve been listening to it and the rest of the album off and on ever since. It’s good background music even when I’m not feeling anxious.
Yo…. I just had a real stressful day at work and this right here made me feel so much better…
MerMay 2018 (Part 2) Days 10 - 19
Taking place in England the owners of the yard slowly kept adding sections to the contraption so when the squirrel learned one section and got the nuts, they’d add another section. It took over 2 weeks to get to the final product you see in the video.
I love how it pushed itself along in the red cart. FASTER FASTER!
Squirrel Ninja Warrior!
The above video is footage from a 1991 BBC documentary, Daylight Robbery 2, in which obstacle courses were constructed to observe wild squirrels’ ability to learn and adapt. (You can watch the full programme on YouTube here.)
Film from the first Daylight Robbery (1988) was also used in a national advert for Carling Black Label lager:
I remember seeing all these the first time round!
Tumblr has a new setting to turn off
General settings > privacy > better recommendations (uses your search history to show you more posts)
On desktop Tumblr, the option was Settings > Privacy > Improved Search (uses search history to customize recommendations)
There was also an option to log into my “Privacy Dashboard,” which is apparently a place to see and manage how Oath (Tumblr’s parent company) uses your data to “improve and personalize your experience”:
The Tumblr Privacy Settings link on the Privacy Dashboard takes you to the normal Settings > Privacy page on tumblr, but the “Account Data” page you log into gives you the ability to “see your activity and data for each product you use on your account” (I just had a line of text that said “No data available to show for this account”), another link to the normal Tumblr Privacy Settings page, and a “Download Your Data” option.
If you haven’t already, I’d suggest logging into desktop Tumblr and checking this out. However, I didn’t see any options about clearing my data on the Privacy Dashboard > Account Data page.
