Don't be mean to fat disabled people
Some disabled people are fat.
Some fat disabled people have mobility impairments, and need to use wheelchairs and scooters.
Some fat disabled people need to sit down a lot.
Some fat disabled people need to park in handicapped parking.
Some fat disabled people need to sit in the disabled seating on busses.
Some fat disabled people need to use the bathroom stall that has grab bars.
Some people act like fat people are somehow “not really disabled, just fat” as though the two are somehow mutually exclusive. They’re not. Fat is not a cure for disability. Fat disabled people are as disabled as thin disabled people. Fat people have every right to exist in public and use mobility aids and other adaptations.
Some people act like being mean to disabled fat people will somehow force them to stop being fat and disabled. It won’t. Being mean is not a cure. If you yell at a fat disabled person for needing to park close to the building, it won’t give them the ability to walk further safely. It will just mean that their day got worse because someone decided to be pointlessly cruel to them.
tl;dr Fat disabled people exist, and have a legitimate need for access and accommodations. Being mean to fat disabled people for having access needs doesn’t cure their disability. It just makes the world a crueler place. Don’t be a jerk.
Fatphobia and abelism go hand in hand. Don’t participate in either.

I don’t want to be restrictive, or restricted. I have never had any talent at paring down, reduction or deprivation. I don’t want to say no to those I love or like.
If you’re a person of color who lives in douglasville /powder springs Georgia or around those places, and you see these trucks, PLEASE GO AS FAR AWAY FROM THEM AS POSSIBLE. Don’t slow down, don’t approach them, don’t even look their way. These are ARMED confederate flag supporters and they are violently racist (may even be nazis or linked to the KKK) This group is called “Protect the Flag” and is led by a man named “Bush”. A few days ago they crashed a black child’s birthday party, yelling slurs and threatening to “kill all n*****s”. PLEASE be careful and stay safe. I just saw one of these trucks (a white one), as far as I know there are seven and they’re all black or white with an American flag and a confederate flag on the back of the truck.when I passed them on the road I felt chills. PLEASE stay safe. If they are following you DO NOT drive home, drive to the nearest police station or the most populated place possible. They are armed and dangerous.
Here is an article and footage of what happened at the birthday party: http://m.ajc.com/news/news/local/watch-heated-confrontation-over-confederate-flags-/nm7JH/
If you’re walking, go into a store. Get out of site. I really want everyone to be safe. Try to be inside before it’s too dark and avoid walking alone. Please signal boost this!!
They were in the lower parts of Georgia last weekend as well in the Brunswick/Brantley/St.Simons area. I was going to my parents house and they were everywhere, up and down every road in Brantley and parked at every store I could see. They were attempting to talk to some people that would come out the stores at one point. There were motorcycles and trucks with several flags and they were shouting a lot. There is a lot of these guys so everyone please stay safe if you are in Georgia right now!

For the day crowd!
Quaternary2015
It really bothers me that people think oppression needs to come in the form of overt personal prejudices in order to be ‘real.’
Okay, so the doctors I went to didn’t say “I hate you because you are a fat, African-American with no insurance (*cough*money*cough cough*)” but I still got sub-par medical treatment over the course of my life that led to me having multiple strokes and nearly dying.
Each individual doctor doesn’t have to give a damn who I am and what I do, but we live in a country where the system says that people like me are going to die from poor health.
So, -no- I’m not going to let someone tell me that “It’s not racism. It’s not fatphobia. It’s not classism.” just because the words “I hate you” were not spoken.
That’s not how oppression works.
No individual needs to be invested to be an accomplice.
By existing in a position of power & NOT actively working against that power, doctors are contributing to the genocide of our working poor, immigrant workers, people of color, etc.
Just for you, andredesanpaulo: A short history of my body since you’re so interested. My mother was a physically fit nurse. My father was a physically fit mechanic. My mother lost 2 babies before I was born because she was giving birth at smaller, private hospitals that couldn’t handle the complications her children were born with. I, as a premature birth, was a surprise. She went to the nearest hospital instead of the most comfortable. I was born in a hospital that could properly deal with the HEART ATTACK I had when I was born. Funny thing about your heart, is that when you take your first breath outside of your mother’s stomach, the chambers start to close off from each other so that they can work individually but as a team. My heart, having had an attack, didn’t do this. At the time, we didn’t know. In any case, I grew up with what we thought was an immune disorder as a kid. I was always a little too weak. A little too worn out. A little too likely to pass out. I had memory problems. I had a randomly presenting speech impediment that never lingered. I could be really active for weeks at a time and then I’d have periods where I could barely move at all. As I got older, this lead to a bit of weight gain. Not a whole lot. Just enough to make me visibly chunky. My (wrong) diagnosis of some unnamed-but-probably-immune-related disorder changed to the (wrong) diagnosis of being fat.
As a fat kid, tests were rarely done to see what ailed me. I was told that I was fat and Black and female. Lazy, probably trying to get welfare, and stressed. Even as a kid!
Anyway, fast forward to my adult life. I had 3 major strokes before doctors finally realized there was a hole in my heart that should have closed when I was born.
Most people with this health problem don’t make it to the age I was when they found it. I was in great health, on paper, but still visibly fat. My doctors were obviously torn between telling me I was fat and it was probably my fault and… shrugging at the fact that everything that had ever been wrong with me all came down to my heart trying to function with only one big open chamber.
They closed the hole.
I haven’t had another stroke, since.
Now, I’ve had some serious problems caused by the damage done by 3 strokes. But it has been 100% proven that my strokes were 100% preventable. Had I been a little richer doctors would have been more likely to run tests. After all, I would have had the money to pay for them. Had I been not-Black, doctors would have been more likely to really work to hammer down a diagnosis. After all, not many people would assume that a diagnosis would lead me to get some kind of government aid. Had I been male, doctors would have been less likely to blame my issues on stress and try to find a physical source.
My heart would have been checked when I was significantly younger.
I would have had it repaired when I was significantly younger.
I wouldn’t be sitting here wearing an eyepatch so I can see properly with my one good eye.
See, the problem with fatphobia is that everyone thinks they’re an expert. There’s a lot of moral posturing being paraded around as science. My fat was 100% a non-factor in my poor health, but when I went to the doctor it was treated as the ONLY factor. I nearly DIED not because my fat was killing me but because society’s attitude toward my fat made me less valuable and trustworthy as a patient. Anything I said and anything my tests said about my body was ‘obviously’ a lie because I was still fat.
That shit is dangerous and YOU need to quit cosigning it. Today.
FUCK YES, this is outstanding.

Watched Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves today and accidentally reminded myself of my huge childhood crush on Michael Wincott. Except now I’m an adult, so...it’s much worse.

Master Post on Why John Lennon is Shit
So here’s a master post of John Lennon’s shittiness. I added much more info about cultural appropriation in his music. I also submitted this to Your Fave is Problematic. :3
Sexism/abuse
publicly admitted to hitting the women he dated
abusive toward both his wives, including Yoko Ono and his son
was controlling in his relationship with Yoko Ono, making her follow him everywhere (including the bathroom)—and made her list all the men she had slept with, which he shamed her for, and did various other controlling/abusive things
wrote this misogynistic song that threatens violence against women
Homophobia and antisemitism
was antisemitic and homophobic, and made antisemetic/homophobic comments toward Brian Epstein, the Beatles’ gay and Jewish manager
even beat someone nearly to death for even insinuating that he had an affair with Brian Epstein: he never apologized for the incident, despite using the excuse for being drunk at the time, stating, “he called me a bloody queer, and I bashed in his ribs for it.’ Later, when he was older, and supposedly “reformed” he claimed he just “wanted to show he was a man” at that age…
Racism
wrote the racist song: “Woman is the ‘N-word’ of the world” (except he used the actual word not n-word) tw in link for racial slur; discussion here explaining why the song is racist (again tw for slur) post explains the song, not only uses a slur but also erases Black women, and equates sexism non-black women face with anti-blackness) (one lyric: "women is the slave to the slaves”)
appropriating/stealing music from Black artists: stole riffs, melodies and even lyrics from Black artists, to name but a few examples: I Feel Fine from Bobby Parker; We Gotta Work It Out from Stevie Wonder [edit: oops that was a cover by Stevie Wonder of the Beatles!]; Day Tripper from Bo Diddly; and was sued for stealing Come Together from Chuck Berry; and did many covers where Black vocal styles are appropriated: Twist and Shout from Isley Brothers, Money from Barrett Strong/Berry Gordy, Some Other Guy from Ritchie Barrett–examples go on and on
appropriation of Indian music and culture, including the appropriation of traditional Indian instruments, spiritual/religious beliefs, perpetuating harmful stereotypes and white supremacy; examples of appropriation in music here, here, here; and this video is an example of not only appropriation of the sitar but Indian spirituality (“om” in the song Across the Universe) and in fetishizing/exoticizing spiritual practices in India
Ableism
often made offensive comments about disabled people (note that the jerk who wrote the article in the link makes ridiculous excuses for him)
mimicked people with developmental disabilities
stated that disabled people touching him was “horrifying” and continually referred to disabled people as “cr*pples”; talked about disabled fans in extremely ableist, demeaning ways
made a song called “Cr*ppled Inside” with an ableist slur to appropriate the pain of disabled people to describe his “internal pain” as a white abled man
Harassment/bullying/acts of violence
Committed various humiliating/violent acts toward strangers and friends: threw knives at people in the audience at concerts, being a violent drunk and getting in fights with friends, etc.; also dubbed Germans at a concert “Nazis” and “Hitlerites”
he may have been responsible for the death of former bandmate Stuart Sutcliffe, on top of more heinous behavior, including urinating on nuns
Edit: there are tons of conflicting accounts of Stuart Sutcliffe’s death. There’s this account from Sutfliffe’s sister that Lennon beat Sutcliffe savagely after learning he was leaving the group–which may or may not have lead to death by complications later (but she also claims the beating didn’t lead to his death, but it still did damage). There are other accounts which claim that thugs attacked Sutcliffe and gave him the injury or that Sutcliffe fell down a flight of stairs– there were even rumors of it being caused by amphetamine use or a tumor (those seem to be bogus)– we can’t know for sure what the true story is (but it’s not unthinkable that someone with Lennon’s history of abuse would do this)
My favourite masterpost ever created, which I like to make sure I crack out every so often. All you need is love, eh?
these hit home so hard
