Serious post I would like people to spread!
This is Naomi Schwartz, she is a 14-year-old girl from Palm Beach Florida who is battling a rare form of cancer which requires a bone marrow transplant. She is mixed race, her mother is a brown Puerto Rican woman and her father is Ashkenazi Jewish, and as a result, currently has no matches in her family or in bone marrow databases. Naomi’s family ran a drive to try to find a match for her, but that’s no guarantee she will find one. I thought I would use my platform here to encourage people or people you know, especially with a similar background to Naomi, to register on bethematch.org.
A very important bone marrow donor drive-thru event is being held Saturday for a local teen. Earlier this year, 14-year-old Naomi Schwartz w

I don’t usually add onto posts but I would like to say that I recently had a bone marrow transplant due to cancer as well. I learned a lot about bone marrow transplants due to this and it’s something that was totally off my radar until I was in it. The Bone Marrow donor pool is extremely white. On average a white person has a 77% chance of finding a match in the pool, it drops significantly for people of different ethnicities. My specific “white european” genetics made my chance personally 93% and because my sister wasn’t a match mine came from the registry and they were a “perfect” match, this literally saved my life. I hope dearly that Naomi can find a donor, I also hope that you consider sending a away for a kit if you can and especially if you can help widen the donor pool. It’s super easy, and it means life or death for those of us handed a very difficult kind of cancer or other rare diseases.
This is from the be the match site giving the average stats for people by ethnicity:
Relevant to Naomi, It said in the article that people with a mixed ethnic background have a 15% chance of finding a donor match, also!
All it takes is a quick and easy sample of your DNA through a swab test. Through 5 simple steps, you can join Australia's Donor Registry and
Many bone marrow donor registries also look internationally. In Australia you can sign up at Strength To Give.

2: an infographic with the header, “Likelihood of finding a Matched Adult Donor on the Be The Match Registry®️ by Patient Ethnicity*”. the note at the bottom reads, “*Patients are most likely to match an adult donor of their own ethnic background.” the infographic shows the following statistics:
African American or Black - 23%
Asian or Pacific Islander - 41%
Hispanic or Latino - 46%
[Native American] or Alaska Native - 57%
White - 77%]
I’ve been keeping up with what’s going on w/ Naomi and haven’t seen any update since her family held the potential bone marrow donors event on the 5th. But I’ll let you all know when I do. Aside from a direct link to bethematch.org there’s also a text link that can help you get started by texting Hope4naomi at 61474
in a time where palestinians in sheikh jarrah and other neighborhoods whose houses are on the precipice of being stolen and occupied by israeli settlers are literally ASKING people to amplify their voices so that their stories are heard so they have a fighting chance for a semblance of justice, it is outrageous and completely unacceptable for some to say that people aren’t required to have an “opinion” about the “israeli-palestinian conflict”
first of all call it what it is: the illegal israeli occupation of palestine. calling it a “conflict” is wrong, because implies that both parties are on equal footing and have equal power. understand and acknowledge that it is a colonial relationship of domination and subjugation. anyone telling you it’s a “clash of civilizations” and a culmination of a centuries old feud between two religions is misinforming you and also perpetuating the myth that the “conflicts” in the middle east are due to civilizational backwardness stemming from religion and archaic cultural practices
second, what happened to “if you’re neutral in situations of injustice you have chosen the side of the oppressor”? why are people so scared of non-neutrality and educating themselves when there is a whole robust academic field with scholars from all over establishing the history and politics of the occupation? if you need reading material here are some books/articles/scholars to start with:
Regina Sharif, Non-Jewish Zionism Hannah Arendt, “Zionism Reconsidered” Michael Selzer, The Aryanization of the Jewish State Walter Laqeuer, A History of Zionism Ali Abunimah, The Battle for Justice in Palestine Ella Shohat, "Sephardim in Israel: Zionism from the Standpoint of its Jewish Victims" Michael Hart, Social Science and the Politics of Modern Jewish Identity Edward Said, The Question of Palestine Lenni Brenner, Zionism in the Age of the Dictators, A Reappraisal Rashid Khalidi, Palestinian Identity Joseph Massad, The Persistence of the Palestinian Question Shlomo Sand, The Invention of the Jewish People Ghassan Kanafani, Men in the Sun Ghassan Kanafani, Returning to Haifa Sara Roy, The Gaza Strip. The Political Economy of De-Development Neve Gordon, Israel’s Occupation Jeroen Gunning, Hamas in Politics Israel Shahak and Norton Mezvinsky, Jewish Fundamentalism in Israel
you should be able to find most if not all the books on libgen.is
finally, if you can’t do that, then keep up with the people on the ground in sheikh jarrah who are providing updates on the situation: journalists mohammad el-kurd @m7mdkurd and muna el-kurd @munakurd.13 based in occupied jerusalem
Blackness to me is inherently gender nonconforming largely because we will never fit into binary white supremacist notions of manhood and womanhood.
Angela Davis actually touches on this in her novel Women, Race, and Class.
Essentially, she says that Black women may have been considered genderless because we did all the same work as men but then weren’t considered men when it came to sexual abuse, suddenly being forced into these feminine, submissive roles that we clearly didn’t fit into. Once the Atlantic Slave Trade was banned, Black women were then seen as breeders to provide for slaves since they couldn’t be imported. Despite this, Black women, even if we were pregnant, still had to work in the fields and suffer the same punishment as our male counterparts.
Angela Davis goes on further to say that since Black women were never seen as housewives, Black men were in turn never seen as family providers or heads of households. By this point, Black women had acquired an abundance of traits that didn’t fit into 19th century perception of what it meant to be a woman. Also, with the rise of industrialization, white women never experienced that same intensive labor which further pushed them into the housewife stereotype. Essentially, there was this white feminist movement to erase the housewife stereotype but it didn’t include the struggles of Black women because we were never seen as housewives to begin with.
All of this to say: We were genderless and outside of any gender norm within the white supremacist framework.
Reminder that we offer the novel mentioned above, Women, Race, and Class by Angela Davis, as a free PDF for anyone to read under our social justice resources. Please share so everyone has equal and equitable access to education and activism!
Several recordings of Davis can be found on Spotify as well not just Women, Race and Class and are highly recommended

Nadria was fired for being like “uh, maybe we shouldn’t make all of our villains black? And our only black characters villains? Or make jokes about me too?” and is a WOC.
This is CW’s new Superman and Lois show. It’s what they’re hinging their future on, especially with Walker already starting to drag.
I’ve collected a thread of articles to share widely as well:
https://twitter.com/Warbamf/status/1364424244101222403
That’s like 30 easy RTs for it that will count as tweets, or make your own threads around each of them. Consider scheduling several for next week as well around 7EST. (Tuesday March 2nd; this post is made Feb 23 2021).
Share this, boost this. Get in the thread, RT it so Europe wakes up to it, or if you’re European climb in once you’re up and keep it going, because it’s actually working.
Make sure nobody misses this. Make it reach far and wide. Make this kind of bullshit stop.
If you were in the SomethingToSay, TheySilencedYou, or any other campaigns–the walker issues, the black lightning cancellation BS, all of that, consider getting in and spamming RT on at least 100 things so nobody misses it.

Hii I’m Rae, I’m peruvian, I’m partially blind and I have ADHD, I’m an animation student but for over a year I haven’t been able to study because of covid. My dad was left unemployed by the pandemic and I haven’t been able to get a job since I have no experience and I haven’t graduated yet. My dad has diabetes and my mom is inmunosupressed, she’s the only one with a stable job, she’s a teacher.
We made our own little bakery and we´re working hard to make it grow but now the government has declared complete lockdown again, which means we cannot make deliveries and since we don’t live near the center we won’t get orders.
We don’t have money for my education, the appointments to the doctor, the new glasses I need to see (I only have vision in one eye and its poor so I need thick glasses) or sleep medication I need because of ADHD.
My family has been struggling but we’ve tried our best to keep working, we now have a nice little bakery, we make different types of bread, pizzas, desserts, chocolates and snacks. But we still need help, specially now, I’m leaving some pictures of what we’ve made lately.
I know everyone is struggling right now but I’m begging you, if you´re able to donate just a little please do, if you can’t, please reblog.
Here’s my kofi: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/0lilblueberry
also here’s the instagram page where I post my art when I can : https://www.instagram.com/0lilblueberry/ and the account of my family’s bakery: https://www.instagram.com/lasdeliciasdepapa0/
Thanks for your attention.
This is urgent now.
The mixer we used for the bakery stopped working and we don’t have money to buy a new one, without this we won’t be able to bake and therefore we’ll have no orders and no money at all.
Please help I’m desperate. Please please donate if you can.

hate incidents against elderly East & Southeast Asians have skyrocketed recently, especially in the Bay Area (article) (thread) . here are some:
an 85 year old Thai man, Vicha Ratanapakdee, was tackled to the ground and murdered in SF
an assailant pushed down a 91 year old Asian man, followed by 2 other elderly men and women, in oakland
a 52 year old Asian-American woman was shot in the head with a flare gun
there have been over 20 assaults and robberies in Oakland’s Chinatown targeted towards the elderly in the past 2 weeks
a 61 year old Filipino man’s face was slashed on the subway in nyc & no one assisted him
a Vietnamese community center burned down in oakland
this is not new – since the pandemic began, attacks on Asian-Americans have spiked:
an 89 year old Asian woman in brooklyn was set on fire in July
an Asian woman in brooklyn was doused in acid in April while she was taking out her trash
almost 3000 hate incidents against Asian-Americans were reported from march to the end of 2020 (keep in mind, most incidents are unreported)
this is what happens when white supremacists refer to the coronavirus as the “china virus” & “kung flu” and promote rhetoric that harms Asian communities. today is the start of lunar new year celebrations & attacks are expected to increase. as a response, local governments across the us have stationed increased police presence in chinatowns, but a white supremacist police system, which will not protect our elders and will also threaten Black lives and safety, is not the solution. most Asians are unwilling to report hate incidents because we do not believe police will help, and last week, police shot and killed Christian Hall, a 19 year old Chinese-American, during a mental health crisis. we can’t accept tactics that uphold white supremacy. what we need is aid for our communities:
thread of donation links
sign up to accompany elderly Asians while they run errands, etc
gofundme for funds to distribute amongst Bay Area + elsewhere community organizations
gofundme for Vicha Ratanapakdee
gofundme for VACCEB (the community center)
keep up with Stop AAPI Hate
lunar new year is our biggest celebration & is supposed to be a time of joy and family, but due to white supremacy & xenophobia, our communities are hurting. it is incredibly painful to see our elders – who our cultures place a huge amount of respect and reverence on, and who often don’t even tell their families about these hate incidents because they don’t want them to worry – being targeted in this way. please donate if you can & spread whatever resources you come across. i will update this post with more links as i find them.
I could really use some help. I live with a girl who has two kids, a 3 month old and a 1 year old who are out of food and nearly out formula, and they're almost out of clothes to wear because they've out grown most of them and no one has any money for them because we have so many bills to catch up on and rent to pay on top of it. Any little bit you could spare would help tremendously. My PayPal is

Trans man in need of help
Hi, my name is Ephraim. Currently I am living with my transphobic abusive mother who is now refusing to pay for my medical care and basic needs because I’m trans.
I am moving within the month due to school, but she is suddenly revoking helping to pay for things like shoes, clothing and bedding and as you may know, moving is expensive. She is also refusing to pay for my medication now, including my HRT and meds for my psychotic depression, despite knowing I have attempted suicide in the past & have been in psychiatric care before, and need to be on these meds. I cannot quit the medication I’m on suddenly either without risking withdrawal symptoms, and she knows this. Not to mention I have an appointment for my HRT that I must attend to continue treatment, which I have to pay for out of pocket due to my insurance refusing to cover Planned Parenthood, on top of having to travel 2 hours to even go to the appointment (I live in a very conservative area). I’m at high risk for COVID-19 on top of being a full time student, so I cannot get a job, and again, my mom knows all of this.
Please consider helping/boosting if you can, I’ll take any help I can get right now. I just need the money to make it through this month. Thank you if you end up donating or boosting, I seriously appreciate it.

Moss Point teacher’s Black History Month door went viral. Now she needs your help.
“Last week, Moss Point teacher Jovan Bradshaw posted a photo to Facebook that went viral. Now she’s using that momentum in hopes of raising money to teach her students more about Black History Month. …”

“Dear students,” the door read. “They didn’t steal slaves. They stole scientists, doctors, architects, teachers, entrepreneurs, astronomers, fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, etc, and made them slaves. Sincerely, your ancestors.”
