this pride month we’re all going to be radically pro transgender. or else.
hey so this means radically pro ALL transgender. don’t put limitations on this. all trans people are radically accepted here.
hey sorry I snapped at you, I've just had a really hard day and [remembers focusing on myself is selfish] maybe it's your fault for provoking me?
Curious what is actually normal for bed time. Go for your normal/average time, not your most extreme or what you wish it was.
what time do you go to bed? (local time)
7pm or before
8pm
9pm
10pm
11pm
12am
1am
2am or after
it's never consistent
some other time entirely
I just don't know what grownups do for bedtime and I want to know!!!
I think it's actually essential to children's moral development to be exposed to short stories moderately beyond their reading level where a bunch of fucked up shit happens and then instead of offering a moral lesson or any sort of emotional or narrative resolution it just ends.
(Ideally these stories should be presented in the form of poorly curated anthologies with the most generic titles imaginable, thereby rendering their contents impossible to identify or find later in life and leaving the affected individual wondering whether they dreamed the whole thing.)
CUENTOS DE AMOR DE LOCURA Y DE MUERTE DE HORACIO QUIROGA
I hate how every time a kid-friendly game that includes romance comes out (recent example: Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream), and fans express a desire for polyamory in the game, polyamphobic people come out of the wood works to say "Don't do that, that's a game kids play!"
Minors can be polyamorous. Minors can have polyamorous parents or other relatives. Minors are not harmed in any way by exposure of polyamory. I knew I was polyamorous by the age of 12. I felt extraordinarily othered by the lack of representation.
Polyamory isn't inherently some super explicit NSFW thing.
It's literally no different from the "don't let same-gender relationships exist in video games!" argument.
-Mod Arwen (he/him)
"But polyamory is sexual!" It can be, yes. But so can monogamy. A person can have a monogamous sexual relationship. Just like how not all monogamy is sexual, not all polyamory is sexual.
People act like group sex, swinging, and sexual open relationships are all that exist. But polyamory can occur in non-sexual manners (romantic, queerplatonic, etc), and monogamy can occur in purely sexual manners. Neither are "inherently" sexual.
How great would it be to have characters tell you "I want to pursue [insert character]. Should I talk to [current partners] about it?" and then you can encourage or discourage them, and if you encourage them, then you get a little cutscene of them talking to their current partners about wanting to add a new member to the relationship?
It would teach children and uneducated people SO MUCH about consent and communication in polyamory.
"Well, I wouldn't want my miis to be polyamorous" then make them monogamous? In a hypothetical like this, the options would be:
-Closed monogamous (wants a monogamous partner)
-Open monogamous (doesn't mind having a polyamorous partner)
-Ambiamorous (fine with polyamory or monogamy. Add a partner amount or a "no limit" option for the possibility of polyamory occuring.)
-Polyamorous (and then you'd select how many partners the character is interested in having, or a "no limit" option.)
Its literally no different from having the "what genders will they date" option.
"But I like the cutscenes of them fighting over the person!" That could still happen, if the miis dislike each other, or one of them has the "closed monogamy" setting on.
(Also, it would be nice if the game had a "don't date this person" option in the "real life connection" settings, so you wouldn't have to make everyone you don't want to date into "family" and play mind games with the system to try and avoid unwanted partnering.)
And before you get on my ass about how this would be hard to program in the game now - I know. I'm talking about FUTURE representation. I'm talking about how nice it would be if games started to actually think about us! I know it's likely not even possible in the game with how it was programmed, but it would be WONDERFUL to be thought of in the future.
As other queer rights progress, people with non-monogamous orientations still get left in the dust.
The game has a lot of progress compared to its previous installments. I really appreciate that it allows you to make characters nonbinary and allows you to make characters gay, m-spec, and non-partnering. But there's still mononormativity and heteronormativity rooted that needs to be torn out from the ground, and there's still a limited perspective within the game of what it means to be non-binary, male, and female.
Other queer issues with the game:
1- You can only have a character be nonbinary in the creation menu. None of the babies of miis are nonbinary unless you edit their profiles - they reinforce the idea that everyone is born either a "girl" or "boy", and that non-binary is something that comes "later." And while that may be true for some enben, a lot of enben also feel they were *born* nonbinary!
2- All babies are born straight and gender conforming, unless edited in their mii menu.
3- When you select a mii as "male" it automatically selects their dating preferences as female, and vice versa for when you select a mii as female. When you select a mii as nonbinary, it leaves their dating preferences blank. Yes, you can change their dating preferences, but it's weird of them to have a heteronormative "default." Same thing happens with pronouns and clothes worn during events.
4- There's no ability to select multiple sets of pronouns. There's no it/its pronouns. And worst of all, there's no customizable pronouns! That especially pisses me off, because they literally have customizable sentences throughout the game! Its not unfounded for the games programming! How hard would it be to have a menu where you type three words (ie; xe/xem/xers) and it inputs the pronouns in the correct places? The game is so close already with the customized phrases!
5- You cannot select multiple genders for a character. You cannot make a character female and nonbinary, male and nonbinary, female & male & nonbinary, etc. I get that they probably did this because they wanted an easier time determining what characters would be attracted to who, but I pose that if a character is attracted to women, and another character has "woman" as one of their genders, let them get a crush! (Or if you're so worried about it, have it where only people attracted to both women & enben can get a crush on someone with both those options selected.)
6- There is no "don't date this person" option. They have tons of relative options (mom, dad, sibling, etc), and they obviously don't allow characters who are related to date each other, but there is no option that just says "don't date." I can't always set everyone as siblings or related, because sometimes that fucks up the family tree in ways where it won't let certain miis I *do* want to date to get together, because they become categorized as step/half siblings (ie; if I say person A is siblings to both person B and person C, because I don't want A to date either of them, B and C won't date each other because they think they're related.)

explaining to my doctor that im getting artifacts in my vision but its not like floaters or anything i just keep seeing an ancient staff and a cursed dagger and shit wherever i look
Why are people now saying "LARP" when they mean "poser". It's confusing.
Everyone is always parroting The Buzzword Of The Month without actually knowing what it means or where it comes from, make it stop
Kinda like how "POV" went from "(implied first person) Point Of View" to "there is a video"
I bring a real 'actually people who are pregnant do deserve some special consideration because they are effectively at least temporarily disabled if not permanently after some complications' vibe to the party that a lot of people don't seem to like
