lets all horrifically torture our favorite characters together Forever

they're normal
almost seven years deep into the 2020s this feels less like a retrospective evaluation and more like a prophetic vision
in the midst of capitalism, fanfiction and archive of our own are always unconditionally and endlessly free. love, joy and passion, shared among human beings, are always unconditionally and endlessly free
people who are obsessed with their fav fictional characters being morally perfect are always the ones defending awful shit
The problem is that they've created a moral framework where your fav fictional character reflects your own personal morality. So when their fav does something immoral they either have to disown the character (which they don't want to do) or defend the behaviour. Most of the time they opt for the latter. Which does significantly more to normalise harmful behaviour than simply enjoying dark fiction ever will.
if you equate what you enjoy fictionally to being a genuine predator then i think you're incredibly offensive and diminish the severity of what abuse is and what it does to people and why it is bad.
I think what some teens don't understand is that adults don't want you in adult spaces. This isn't just about your safety its also about adults safety and comfort. The fact that you don't even think about the situation you're putting other people in shows that you are not in fact "mature enough" to be in an adult space.
