if you say you're not a woman,
then the dress code's always pants,
you're allowed to ditch the makeup,
and start working with your hands.
if you say you're not a woman,
beauty standards don't apply,
you can cut your hair however,
and post shirtless pics online.
if you say you're not a woman,
you're no longer gay, you're straight!
now your parents will accept you,
and you can assimilate.
look at all the things we'll give you,
if you play our little game.
we'll remove your breasts completely!
we can help you change your name!
if no women say they're women,
then no women can unite.
if we convince you you're not women -
you'll stop seeking women's rights.
Something that absolutely makes me want to tear people to shreds with my teeth is thinking about how women's health is just not a priority in medicine.
1 in 10 women of childbearing age have PCOS.
Yet it's not considered important at all. It's hardly researched. Many women who suffer from this go undiagnosed for years. They are brushed off, ignored, not heard, or just put on birth control as if that's a cure-all. Even if someone with PCOS does get diagnosed the doctors don't even know everything there is to know about it.
Did you know that more than half of women with PCOS develop Type 2 Diabetes by the age of 40? Women with PCOS are often insulin resistant. Furthermore, many women with PCOS also have trouble with vitamin deficiencies, like vitamin D. And did you know that many women with PCOS also suffer from crippling fatigue?
Heart disease?
High blood pressure?
Again, one in ten women.
Can you imagine if one in ten men had PCOS? It would be the most well-researched condition on earth. Going to the doctor would mean that testing for PCOS is one of the first things they do. There would be awareness for PCOS. Treatments would be readily available and covered by health insurance. And so on.
But women are left to suffer because, why? The female body is just not considered important in medicine, yet it's the one people want to control the most. Almost half of the earth's population is female, yet our health is not a priority. If that doesn't make anyone want to go crazy, then I don't know what will.
itâs insane to me that I only found out recently PCOS causes fatigue. I remember going to the doctors for years complaining of persistent fatigue and they would just do a thyroid test and tell me I am fine since nothing is abnormal on the bloodwork and itâs probably just my depression, none of my doctors brought it up and since there is no research on it. my most controversial post here that I had to delete due to sheer stupidity was me lamenting how the medical industry is more focused on plastic surgeries than improving the actual health of women and I got told I am dumb and donât care about children who get mauled by dogs (yeah seriously).
It IS insane. You basically have to google things like 'does PCOS cause fatigue?' 'does PCOS cause headaches?' 'Does--' because no one ever tells you!! Even on health websites they don't talk about women's experiences. I didn't even know we were insulin resistant until someone said that on Reddit, of all places.
My gynecologist told me she also had PCOS when she diagnosed me, but still no useful information whatsoever. She just told me to diet, and get lazer hair removal if the hair bothered me, and I should be fine since I was very small. Meanwhile, i was struggling with insomnia, brain fog and intense fatigue, I also had an ED, which was exacerbated by her advice. All symptoms she cared to mention were strictly related to my appearance and my reproductive ability. It took me months to figure out that my tiredness and my poor sleep could be related to PCOS, it took me another couple month to find out my PCOS was not triggered by food as much as stress, and that starving myself was unnecessary. Never have I gotten any actual help from a doctor, I had to go to instagram, reddit and various other forums to get information.
notice how you never ever see "aesthetic" pictures of men (unless it's like a specific celebrity).
next time someone reblogs a pic of a half naked woman in a dress or a woman's legs in a comfy bed or an "outfit" but the focus is her body, just imagine if that were a man. you never fucking see that. because men don't see themselves from the outside, they don't self-objectify, they don't see their bodies as separate, as enemies.
I think a big part of this too is using women as decoration. A bed or clothes on their own isn't interesting enough, so a woman's body (usually without the head or face) is inserted to elevate it from empty space to a point of visual interest. Now there's some body parts to look at. And that's what reinforces the idea that a woman's body is there to be looked at, rather than a woman existing to be the one looking.
So I was back in Mandarin class and the teacher let us know that in ancient times sometimes they wouldnât even give their girl children names. Their attitude was why bother getting attached to her when sheâs just going to grow up and belong to someone else? She doesnât need her own identity because she is the property of her future husband. If they needed to refer to a woman they would say thatâs Wangâs wife. In the same way you would say oh, thatâs Wangâs car or Wangâs house. Letâs remember that we give names to dogs, horses, ships and buildings but some human women donât deserve such recognition. She also touched on sex-selective abortion for a bit and it was all in all a pretty sad discussion today.
I was really moved but it felt like everyone else didnât care or thought that stuff doesnât matter because it doesnât happen anymore. And yet even now womenâs identities are being erased when they get married. Their personal history and family ties are untraceable because they are âadoptedâ into their husbands family. Itâs disgusting and I hate that its so nomalized and I hate that even womenâs names are not our own. We might as well never have been given names in the first place.
This effect also disrupts our relationships. Try finding old friends from high school or your second cousin. They are gone and renamed, lost to you.
Common throughout history, unfortunately. Women in ancient Rome often werenât given names beyond their family names; if you needed to differentiate between sisters, youâd often just say âCornelia the younger / the elderâ or even just give them numbers. Their husbands would address them, in private, by the feminine form of their own names (eg. if you married Julius then heâd call you Julia).
A lot of people think the effect has disappeared today, because women typically have less common names than men - a higher fraction of men are named the absolute most popular names like John or Jack whereas women are more spread out over different names.
But itâs really noticeable how often parents give their male children meaningful names - theyâll have a historically important namesake, or be named after a great grandfather, or have a traditional name with a meaning their parents liked. Thatâs why the common names tend to be common. The names given to female children are chosen because theyâre âprettyâ names, because their parents just liked the way it sounded, or are even just nouns / adjectives like âLilyâ, âHopeâ or âSummerâ. They emphasise that the role of the female child is to be a pretty ornament, not to achieve meaningful things or inherit anything from a namesake.
Theyâre often very infantilising - sure itâs cute when you have a two year old named âPoppyâ or âPreciousâ but sheâs going to have to grow up and put that name on her CV. They very often use the diminutive -ie / -y suffix (Millie, Tilly, Becky, Georgie, Katy / Katie), which is typically used to indicate something small and cute and which many women have to obfuscate in order to construct anything that sounds like a professional identity. (I know a Katie who is pretending her name is Katherine, even though itâs legally Katie, just so people wonât think sheâs being inappropriately informal in a business context.)
They also highlight just how much ageism is directed at women and how much women have to struggle to keep up with fashion, even in something as basic as their names. A traditional male name like âJosephâ or âEdwardâ or âJamesâ or âLukeâ is fine no matter how many centuries itâs been popular for. An off cycle name might be unusual, but that isnât a bad thing. But dare give a girl a name that was popular too long ago - âDorothyâ or âMaryâ or âDawnâ or âGertrudeâ - and sheâll be ruthlessly bullied in school for it because itâs a âold lady name for grandmothersâ. Donât you know those names are ugly now, undesirable, associated with old wrinkled women who arenât sexy? You need a young, new, sexy name like Ava or Madison or Olivia - keeping in mind of course that those will be âuglyâ too when your daughter gets old.
The tendency of feminine names to emphasise beauty - and occasionally sexuality, which can be somewhat inappropriate considering the kid has to grow up with that name - is taken to an extreme if you look at porn starsâ stage names, which are all things like Scarlet or Rose or Desiree or Ravyn. Femininity, taken to an extreme, always ends up being about sexual availability.
And when women do try and give their daughters unique names, so theyâll be memorable even if their surname changes, the Daily Mail runs spots to make fun of names like Nevaeh or Unique or Evylyn because apparently thatâs chavvy. And maybe it is! Iâm not a fan of replacing all vowels with y either! But wow, there are just no good options for women.
And of course the moment you put a recognisably female name on your CV you become less employable, your qualifications worth less. But if you have a gender ambiguous name, youâre punished for being gnc. Good fucking luck out there.
Itâs kind of a small thing, next to all the rape and mutilation and career discrimination and all the generally horrible things happening to women. But itâs just⊠nothing is okay, nothing is equal, no part of the world has actually been completely fixed yet. Even our names are yet another thing we need feminism help improve.
Reblogging for this fine addition
Ah, language/literature analysis! How I love and hate you. Great addiction tho. Thank you!
One of my mates has an old fashioned legal name which they donât go by. While she likes the name because it has meaning to her, sheâs said that most people think itâs a weird simply because itâs so old fashioned.
When it was popular what were the most popular boys names? Joseph, Robert, John, William, etc. Have they become old fashioned suddenly? Of course not.
Is there any part of a womanâs life which isnât just a trend?
Modern feminists rarely reckon with the true immensity of the legacy of menâs subordination of us. This is the kind of thing I mean. Modern feminists are frequently in total denial about the fact that we were all of us property until, relatively speaking, a few seconds ago.
I think about this post a lot.Â
We have a tradition in my culture, since Somalia was an oral society, where people kept track of their ancestry by memorizing the names of their fathers, their fatherâs father and so on. This practice is called abtirsi and in theory youâre supposed to know the names until you reach your clan name. I think of all the women in my ancestry whose names was forgotten.Â
If you read the Bible there are pages upon pages about male characters and their sons, and the sons of their sons etc, the whole lineage. It drags on and on, literally just a list of male names, the mothers are completely absent, erased, non-existent.
Any male calling themselves a lesbian is unequivocally predatory, and was never looking to respect female boundaries to begin with. The label, lesbian, is the boundary. Males calling themselves lesbians is a direct admission that they don't care about your no, and is a direct indication you're dealing with someone you need to be very careful around.
sometimes I randomly think about the time a girl posted in this girls only Facebook group Iâm in telling everyone how she broke up with her boyfriend and he lied saying that he lost the spare key she gave him, only to then break into her apartment when she wasnât home and steal the cat theyâd adopted while they were together, but then he denied having done this and she didnât really have proof that he took the cat since he wouldnât let her come into his place and look for it. And then another girl saw this post and knew her ex-boyfriend, and she was like âgirl. I used to hook up with your mans back in xxxx and I still have his number. If you want, Iâll hit him up and get him to invite me back to his place and see if your catâs there.â And the OP was like âbet.â
So this woman hit up homie dog, asked him out for drinks, went home with him, slept with him, and then woke up in the middle of the night and TOOK THE CAT. Like she had only said that she would confirm if the cat was there but then she took it upon herself to steal this womanâs cat back. Like she full on Trojan horsed this man and then hit up homegirl like âI got the goods. Where you wanna meet.â And then the two of them posted a photo of them together with the cat to the group.
And I just think women supporting women is so beautiful.
I literally had to argue with another bisexual person last week that sexual orientation (being homosexual) is not bigoted. She tried to pull the same manipulative bull crap that many of these people try; âIâm not forcing you to have sex with anyone, but if your sexual orientation (homosexuality) doesnât include the opposite sex, youâre a bigot.â
Like dude, we fucking see you. You canât call somebodyâs sexual orientation bigoted and then in the same fucking breath argue that youâre not forcing people to have sex with other people they donât wanna have sex with. Youâre literally telling them that if they donât fuck the other person, they are a bigot. That is social pressure. That is force. Stop telling people their sexual orientations are bigoted. You will not win, all you will do is ensure that a lot of people who donât wanna fuck end up having really bad sexual experiences. You canât cancel culture somebodyâs sexual orientationïżŒ.
Reblogging again because this is LITERALLY just âHate the sin, love the sinnerâ with a fun progressive coat of paint!
âThereâs nothing wrong with BEING homosexual, but ACTING on your homosexuality itself is morally wrong!â
âOf course we love and accept homosexuals for who they are, but itâs the act of homosexuality that damns them to hell!â
âOf course you can BE homosexual, just keep it quiet in public. Donât go around telling anyone youâre exclusively same-sex attracted, thatâs just rude and exclusionary.â
TRAs loving to pretend that they the reason they hate terfs is the fact that the womenâs right rallies are âfull of neonazis and are supported by right wing menâ but⊠how come that those TRAs never beat up the Nazis there?
Itâs always the lesbians, the elderly people, and the women they threaten.
How come?
Oh right. Because itâs women they hate.
There are several posts showing how TRAs are much much much closer to Nazis with their behaviour than whatever they accuse terfs of being.
Just like with their beliefs.
I mean, Nazis too CLAIMED that the existence of other people was âa threat to their existenceâ and so they utilised that to justify ACTUAL violence (and ACTUAL genocide) towards those not bowing down to them.
Like sexists always do or did to women.
No matter how they choose to call themselves or call those women to justify that violence.
What is it about this time of year that fills me with, ironically, emptiness?
Type O Negative - Black No. 1 (Little Miss Scare -All) Î
An old video, but I have only recently cared to comment as a reaction to somebody asking in the comments if it did seem illegal to raid someone's home without warrants and without the homeowner being present. My comment:
The raid was also performed during Manson's honeymoon abroad. But the US authorities have failed the US citizen Marilyn Manson in more than one way.
A federal agent played coy when informed that actress Evan Rachel Wood and her intimate friend Ilma Gore had forged her signature and used her name on a fake FBI letter, which main purpose was to help recruit a number of women to file false accusations against Marilyn Manson. Note that despite the fact that she was first to attack Marilyn Manson with unproven accusations, Rachel Wood never bothered to file any charges officially. Even after the statute of limitations in California was lifted. She simply organized a group of people to do the dirty work for her.
Rachel Wood also used the fake FBI letter in order to obtain full custody of her son and take him away from the father. An atempt which after a 2-year long legal battle recently ended tragically for her since she completely lost the custody rights over the child herself.
In any way, upon one of Manson's lawyers informing aforementioned FBI agent of the fake letter, no reaction followed by her or the bureau despite the obvious impersonation of a federal agent comitted by the actress and her friend Ilma Gore which is a crime usually punished by prison time if proven.
Manson also received a series of subjective unfavorable judge rulings in his own civil case against the actress and her fellow forger in which he is trying to do the job of the FBI and get a sentence for the two insolent cons. The lawsuit was finally gutted and reduced to almost nothing after the judge refused Manson the right to limited discovery concerning the fake FBI letter and the deposition of Wood herself to be taken, as well as refusing to accept as evidence the sworn declaration of one of the main Manson's accusers who admitted to have placed false accusations after having been systmatically manipulated by Wood. The judge also ruled that the fake FBI letter is to be considered protected speech under the first amendment and not taken in consideration for the lawsuit. The reason: it was already submitted by Wood in the child custody court as evidence, so it was priviledged. The judge intentionally did not consider the fact that the other court had disregarded the letter after noticing it was fake.
The video said that Manson could not have Esme Bianco's case dismissed, but it did not mention the reason why although it is in direct relation to the raid mentioned in the title. Well, here it is: Bianco was outside statute of limitations for sex crime charges, so her lawyer played another card. He placed on her behalf charges for human trafficking! And in order to prove that there is base for such charges, the actress went to testify in front of the sheriff's department. Hence the raid. Police officers didn't even find drugs for personal use during the raid, nor any trace of criminal activity of any sosrts. So they took all the electronic devises they managed to find in the house in order to search for any piece of information on them which could point to any criminal activity whatsoever. Two years later, no results from this investigation. It has obviously been raised by Bianco in order to justify the charges she filed. Her lawsuit persisted enough so that Manson's insurance company would offer a small amount to the actress in order to settle her claims. She took the money and no word from her was heard ever again.
Strictly following the bidding of actress Rachel Wood however, the district attorney of LA still hasn't cleared Manson's name and closed the investigation.
So yes, a lot of "illegal" is going on when it comes to the Marilyn Manson situation.ĐĐŸĐșазĐČĐ°ĐœĐ” ĐœĐ° ĐżĐŸ-ĐŒĐ°Đ»ĐșĐŸ
