Lastly, my reality is different from your reality. There is no objective social reality, TBH, and it's something you're going to have to live with. Everyone has different experiences from everyone else. Anyone who says they have the exact same experiences as you is usually trying to con you out of something or manipulate you, sorry to say. Two different social realities can exist at the same time- you can be a woman abused by men, I can be a man abused by women (not to mention all the men with male abusers and all the women with female abusers). Unless you can admit that and not rely on the "power plus privilege" definition of what social reality or prejudice is, we're going to continue to be at loggerheads.
I’ve got a theory that extremists, by their position, end up interacting with mostly extremists on the opposite end, or at least eliciting extreme pushback/responses to the point that it further warps their worldview. Couple that with all the cherry-picked examples that make the world seem as hostile to them as possible, and you end up with a person who feels threatened by everyone 24/7, regardless of how you act towards them.
It would almost be fascinating if it wasn’t so sad. You’ve got a group of people, some of whom definitely have some legitimate trauma, hanging around people who weaponize that trauma, incubating their pain and distrust and hate to the point where they’ve relegated themselves to perpetual victim status. And all their interactions are engineered to reinforce this.
