you are allowed to change your mind about things. growing isn’t inconsistency, it’s just being alive
when you’re disabled the little things you manage to do feel like really big things. and if no one sees it and tells you this, then i will: i am proud of the things you have accomplished, no matter how small they might seem to other people, and you should be proud of yourself too
what may seem like baby steps to some people may be big leaps for others. never underestimate your progress.
Some is better than none. Some is better than none. Some is better than none. Walking for three minutes, is better than nothing. Drinking a glass of water and eating a snack, is better than nothing. Wiping down the counter, is better than nothing. Small things are not nothing. Small things are not nothing. Small things are not nothing. You don’t have to achieve grand things if all you’re capable of right now is the smaller things. They are still achievements. Don’t do nothing just because you don’t think you’re capable of doing bigger things, just do something you’re capable of today.
An Interview with Hanif Abdurraqib
A gentle reminder as you work on asking for what you need: direct communication matters, and it’s a skill worth practicing. But if you can’t in the moment, or you’re still learning how, this is something that may help to remember.
Someone not reacting the way you want doesn’t automatically mean they don’t care.
Sometimes you expect reassurance to look a very specific way. Immediate responses. The right tone. The exact words that quiet the fear. When it doesn’t show up like that, your brain may try to fill in the gaps with meaning that isn’t actually there.
A different reaction isn’t the same as indifference. A slower response isn’t the same as rejection. Someone doing their best in their own way isn’t the same as them not trying.
This reminder doesn’t make the fear disappear. It just gives you something steady to hold onto while it passes.
“You are stronger than the things that make you feel weak.”
— Unknown
i don't even find perfection that interesting, like if you polish and prune something too much it can lose its soul and charm. art and people need to be a bit imperfect in order to be captivating
There will be a lot of posts soon from people sharing how much they achieved in 2025. But in case someone needs to hear this... it's okay if the only thing you did this year was just get through it.
here is your gentle reminder that there are dandelions growing through cracks in the sidewalk. there is a fence lizard on the porch who is growing a new tail. there are trees growing through an abandoned house, branches tearing through the ceiling, ferns carpeting the floor. there is life pushing forward, pushing through.
“Think for yourself, and let others enjoy the privilege to do so, too.”
— Voltaire, Treatise on Tolerance
go on more walks. walk for no reason. walk to solve a problem. walk to blow off steam. walk to get outside. walk to listen, read, and learn. walk to escape distractions. walk to improve your health. walk to think. a simple walking habit can change absolutely everything.
Things will never work out the way you expect you can’t stay in paralysis waiting for the right moment forever or you will experience nothing. Keep it moving and remember not knowing how things will go is part of the excitement of living
