Climbing my way up towards Tiger's Nest, it's probably one of the most crowded place I've been. I encountered a 100 pax tourist group. Ohhh man I really dreaded it but these prayers flags brought some peace within. One thing about Bhutan is their love for the environment. One of the best things while camping out in Bhutan was spending time by the fire chit-chatting with the rest of crew (although I needed translation most of the times 😅) and watching the Milky Way above us. With the warmth of the fire, the shooting stars across the skies and the laughter of everyone around the fire, I truly felt at peace with myself. It was really a wondrous experience. 5 days of trekking with a total of 4 trekking crew, 2 donkeys and 5 horses. What an experience it was! I am told the snowman trek in Bhutan at Chomolhari Mountain is has even more crew, donkeys and horses per pax. Interesting fact: Donkeys won't move on a journey without horses, supposedly it is part of their animal instinct and horses are their shield in case of any animal attacks. The exceptionally rare moment for me witnessing the sunset across the Himalaya Mountains was just awe inspiring. The day started with a trek uphill towards one side of the mountain where yak herders brought their yak to graze and feed. This is one of the places where yak herders stay and rest for nights on end as their yak graze throughout the lush greenery season prior to winter. Eventually the forest opened up to a small open field where our first camp night would be. Clear skies, green forests and tall mountains. This felt so much better than a luxury hotel! What came next was the cold of the night creeping up on us as the sun went down. The stars and the milky way took a peek and stayed there throughout the night as well. Walking deeper into the forests, you start to see the tree cover above you getting thicker and start to form sky maps! Notice those blue lines running across the tree cover. Somehow the trees know how to avoid each other perfectly and these "maps" are formed. Seeing this sight where the Himalaya Mountain peaks towered above the clouds only made me realise how small I was in this world. Trekking up the mountains via the Lungchu Tsey Pilgrimage, there are numerous prayer flags along the way. These flags have scriptures imprinted on them and as they flutter in the wind, it is believed the chantings are sent up towards the heavens.
