You're religious? You're like so chill and not homophobic and believe sex workers deserve human rights
Considering that there are literally billions of religious people on the planet yes, some of us are progressives. Jesus says to share what you have and be kind to your neighbors so idk why I wouldn’t support human rights.
The thing about chill religious people is that we are chill and kinda quiet so unfortunately the unchill loud kinds get all of the airtime.
I’m not gonna try to convert you to my way of thinking but I will explain that spirituality is a fundamental part of the human experience and the universe is never going to be fully explained. On top of that community and culture are often connected very closely to religion.
Choosing to admit that you are a being of spirituality and you will never fully understand everything about how the universe works and connecting with a community and culture that fills those needs for you is a perfectly rational decision to make.
Yes I literally believe in the existance of a singular God. Yes I also fully believe in science. This is not a contradiction. I’ll never know for sure if I’m right about how the universe works but I don’t care. What I get out of my faith is incredibly important to me whether I’m correct or not.
I also don’t really care if you agree with me or not. I know what I’m about and I’m not one to try and convert people but I’m also not interested in hiding such a fundamental part of who I am. My queerness, my love for modern science, my love for life, are all linked deeply to my faith and I have no interest in trying to hide that even if I am a bit quiet with it at times.
AMEN! I'm also a Christian, and I'm reaching into more woke circles because I realized that so many of you believe in objectively good things, and it would be a shame to shun you just because a bunch of conservatives called you evil when I was eight years old.
To be clear, I don't understand how to reconcile transgender thinking with the Bible, but you're still a human being, and I can absolutely love you for who you are because of that. Christians are supposed to be the least bigoted folks around, so I do my best. I fail sometimes. I hope you can forgive me when that happens.
But yeah, Christians should take wokeness in stride, and it sucks that a lot don't.
I’m a transgender Christian and God made my body in collaboration with my mother and myself. My mind is part of my body. My mind is that of a nonbinary man and I am happier and feel closer to God when I live as a man. It was rational for me to conclude therefore that denying my transness would be fighting against who God made me to be.
God made humans in his image. God is sometimes compared to a mother in the Bible as well as a father. So, God can be both a mother and a father. So, God himself can hold multiple genders, multiple truths. If we are made in his image, who’s to say we also can’t have that kind of layered and strange relationship to gender?
