I think it's definitely valuable to listen to LDS transgender voices when we can as the majority of resources for Queer Mormons is often more geared towards those who are queer on the sexuality side with transgender members just getting grouped in

so when straight people ask me why I say I’m “queer” or “gay” instead of sharing my actual identity as a panromantic demisexual non-binary sapphic queer I just tell them “ok look, when you’re talking to someone who isn’t local and they ask you where you’re from and you either say the name of the largest city nearby or ‘town name, suburb of large nearby city’ so they can get some geographical context of where you’re located right, bc they’re probably not going to know the name of the little town you actually live in.”

but if you’re talking to a local you can say the name of your actual town bc they have a greater chance of knowing where/what that is.

ok well when I’m talking to a straight person I start with queer bc chances are they aren’t as familiar with the context of all the little towns in that big queer city and need gps (gay positioning system) to find me.

if I’m talking to another queer person and I say I live in a suburb of gay city in a town called panromantic on the demisexual side of the tracks which is in the county of queer and I live off the intersection of non-binary and sapphic, they’d probably be able to find me with little to no problems, make sense?

It’s been a hard couple of months, and probably a hard couple of years. I’m still struggling with reconciling my faith and my identity as a genderfluid lesbian, but here’s the message I feel like I’m getting from my Heavenly Parents. This goes for all of you:

STOP USING AI FOR FAMILY HISTORY

it's one thing when people use it to "restore" old photos. It's not my favorite but I'll give it a pass.

But someone has just wholesale created an image with ChatGPT of a generic indigenous girl in stereotypical pioneer clothing to represent a young Paiute girl some of my ancestors adopted and it feels SO offensive to me. Not only was she robbed of her culture and her name. But now you're going to create a fake image of her? Based on nothing but the fact she was a "civilized lamanite" or some shit?

Ooooh boy do I have feelings about this. I was on my (service) mission when AI in genealogy became the next Big Thing. I had the senior missionaries I was serving with, who were very very good at genealogy: family search asks them for advice and help in genealogy good. One of them reeeeealy thought that asking AI about solving genealogy brick walls was going to fix things. Like NO IT WON’T DUDE. And spoiler alert: it didn’t.

The only thing I support using AI for in genealogy? Indexing. As long as humans continue to proofread it. Which is what is happening rn.

I'm still migrating the tweets and threads I don't want to lose from Twitter. Some of them have ended up here. Others are getting revised and expanded before being added to my website. This is one of the latter. It's one of the most important things I've ever written, in no small part because it brought some measure of peace to Kris Irvin.

Kris was my friend. Kris was the gentlest, most loving person. Twitter's possum through the night. You never had to worry about being alone with your insomniac intrusive thoughts because Kris was guaranteed to also be awake. I miss them still. Deconstructing all of this was better, easier, and more fun because they were there. I'm a better person now for knowing them. There will never be a day when this ceases to be true.

Thanks for everything, Kris. Whatever degree of Mormon heaven you're in, I want a seat right next to you.

The Antarctic temple should:

1. Look like the Fortress of Solitude

2. Have a portrait of Jesus holding a penguin the way he normally holds lambs

3. Japanese toilets

4. The chandeliers should be designed to look like Lion’s mane jellyfish

5. The clothing rental should offer cardigans embroidered with snowflakes

6. The temple should be guarded by leopard seals, which is an awesome species beloved by God.

7. Because there is no point in having an outdoor garden in Antarctica, I suggest two things: first, we could have a snow sculpture garden of scripture stories/characters. Second, an inner greenhouse to display native plants from the homelands of all the scientists who work there. (I’d say display native plants of Antarctica but that defeats the point of keeping the inside warm.)

Microaggressions against polyamory in interpersonal interactions are important and should be discussed, but I do wish more of the conversation focused on the ways that systemic amatonormativity impact things like family units, taxes, healthcare, inheritances, housing, childcare, etc.

I'm not dating or married or related to anyone I live with, and our household of four adults can't get any kind of financial or food or housing aid because we count as three separate households despite our semi-blended finances and living together for a decade. There are laws that have been proposed (at least, I don't know if any passed) that limit housing to nuclear families.

Amatonormativity and polyphobia are not just theoretical "people are kinda mean about this sometimes" -- they are real and materially impactful systemic issues, and they affect all of us.
