can anyone tell me the watch order for every movie ever so i can understand all references and homages
@dionrevel PLEASE share the link.
Lol sure!!
For movies, here is the beginner's list:
Beginner's guide for getting in the loop.
And the more advanced list:
Advanced guide to getting in the loop. Supplementary to "Civilization Essentials." If a movie is on this list, then it has one of these: -Po
Not all these movies are necessarily good, but the ones that gave me small pop culture epiphanies. It made me realize that 30%-40% of the jokes from modern sitcoms are references/parodies- and these movies are their source material.
^^ This is also true for socializing. So many people I thought were naturally funny were just doing movie bits.
[I actually do have a job, I am just a big fan of lists and graphs and flow charts etc.]
Oh I adore this. As someone who missed a bunch of stuff by way of chaos and poverty. This is a nice tool.
when this kind of fire starts...
I came across a xiaohongshu post that showed pictures of an abandoned traditional village in a mountainous region of China with very little surrounding greenery that had the captions: “so sad how traditional villages like these are empty and abandoned”
But the top comment was: “I am so happy for the villagers who finally made it out of the mountains and into new homes in prosperous cities. It often takes multiple generations of hard work to get the entire family out. Every family in this village achieved this. What you are looking at is the evidence of their success!”
And the second highest liked comment was: “You can tell this area has poor agricultural resources. The ancestors of the villagers were likely forced to settle here because more powerful villages have occupied the attractive fertile lands. Who knows how long they had been trapped here? I’m glad they finally made it out!”
Another comment with high likes: “My grandparents’ village was like this. Poor air quality from burning coal in poorly ventilated buildings. Bitterly cold in the winter. Dry and hot in the summer. Short growing seasons. And there was always a shortage of water. My parents got factory jobs in the city and after working and saving for years, they finally got all of us out.”
And it occurred to me how when we romanticize old fashioned villages and mourn the loss of the type of community they provided, we sometimes downplay and overlook the extraordinary liberation and agency that industrialization brought and brings to people who in previous generations had no option but to remain where they were born for most of their lives.
A New Look with Old and New Pieces
This outfit came together because of the tie, which I bought months ago but hadn’t worn yet. I really enjoyed how everything came together. I’m also pretty jazzed that Chubstr recently rebloged from here recently.
Shirt - Gift from a friend at a local clothing swap, purchased at Kohl’s
Vest - thrift, found by partner who enthusiastically suggested I get it
Tie - Chaps, from TJ Maxx I am sorry, but who can resist a tie with bandana-wearing Frenchies on it?
Jeans - Nautica, from Destination XL
Socks - Gold Toe, from their outlet store
Shoes - Doc Martens, from Ross
if i had to explain what tumblr is like i’d only show this
No one seems to be acknowledging the far funnier element of this, which is, that when you go to the commenter’s account, you find out they are actually fucking roleplaying as a sexually repressed skeleton and jjst really committed to the bit while everyone in the reblogs is talking about how much they hate minors or whatever. thank you kharak the skeleton servant of the almighty lich king
in many "I'm no longer attracted to my wife because she put on a ton of weight after giving birth and never lost it. I still love her, but she also never wants to be intimate with me anymore, which is driving us further apart. what should I do?"-type reddit threads, most users will attempt to respond to op with the good faith assumption that he does want to help his marriage; "you should cook and work out together", "when was the last time you called her sexy or went on a date? try that", "how often do you do housework or childcare, op? it's possible that she feels exhausted by managing the household." and so on. the op's responses are (often) predictably the same: "I cook, clean, take care of the kids, and make great strides to connect with her", and while some will boldly needle him for more detail to verify how true this is (it isn't), only seasoned reddit hate readers will notice the sleight of hand right off the bat. op has made up his mind about his wife and his marriage, and in his guilt he has constructed a perverse public psychodrama to reinforce his sense of being victimized by things beyond his control. he carefully responds to a select handful of good-natured users with some variation of "I'm trying" and "She's cold and inscrutable" until they can only scratch their heads and respond with "I'm not sure what else you can do, op". if he keeps his cool, the final product, his thread, will be a work of art. a document in which manicured descriptions of his wife's person elicit the disgust he feels in her presence, thus allowing his feelings to surpass subjectivity and become truth. he conceptualized the idea of a good husband and father trapped in an unhappy marriage, and the universe manifested it. In 6 months he will realize the limitations of this magic when he realizes that the 23 year old coworker he was texting wasn't really interested in a serious thing.

What if we built our cults next to eachother ??????
I got a crush on Mads Mikkelsen
i had a dream that i was kissing a girl (im gay) and right as it was getting good wayneradiotv turned his webcam on over top the dream and started admonishing twitch chat for watching girls kissing while he was away from the computer. he kept saying they were sick bitches and that none of them would go to heaven. it went on for five whole minutes while i tried desperately to take back control of the dream from wayne and go back to kissing girls. i woke up in a cold sweat at 3 am and was afraid to go back to sleep for fear that the wayne tulpa would harm me again
Kabru trying his usual approach to undermining people against Laios is so funny. It’s like he’s a grandmaster at chess, poker, and everything else that requires mind-games coming up to a guy, fully expecting to beat him at any game under any circumstances, only to realize he didn’t prepare for the one thing he’d actually be faced with, which is a hotdog eating contest against a guy whose friends call him “the vacuum cleaner”.
