my mom just came to me and ranted about how everyone is making this facebook status that says, “raising teenagers is like nailing jello to a tree”. she was so baffled by this because she said, “you were pretty easy to raise as teenagers. all you did was sleep and eat.”

its funny to me how warmups for instruments generally sound nice and pretty. like just basic scales or chords. the exercises i do on my guitar could be mistaken for actual music at times.

and then vocal warmups are shit like. bark like a seal. grunt like a thwomp from mario 64. now sing the melody but instead of the lyrics youre saying 'moo moo mee mee mah mah' even the scales you gotta moo mee mah through that shit and its just so goofy every time. and this is why im not a singer

YOOO that spamton clay puppet is SO AWESOME! Been wanting to make more out of clay too. Would you be willing to walk through how you made him? Did you use air dry clay?I am curious about the hinges of his arms. Looks like string? He’s so gloriously floppy! Thank you for sharing!

YAYY THANK YOUU!! He's not the most structurally sound puppet ever but i'll tell you what i did

First thing i did was a sketch, so i can have some sort of guide when sculpting

Then i made the shape of his body and head roughly out of aluminum foil, so he's lighter, covered him in clay and started sculpting. I used polymer clay to make him, from my experience it's pretty sturdy after it's baked (i held his head a bit too hard after baking him but his nose was only slightly bent and it straightened after a bit lol).

I made all parts of him separately and then painted them. I left holes in the limbs and body so i can attach them later.

the pelvis torso and head are attached with something like a chain i made out of wire. I made sure to poke holes in the clay, big enough for the wire to fit, but i ended up using a knife to widen them later.

The arms and legs have tinier holes that i made with a small sculpting tool i have. The idea was to have a thread going through all of them and glue it at the ends, but the holes were too small, i think? I ended up shoving short pieces of yarn as far as they would go and gluing them. They tore and fell out a couple of times, but he's fine now👍

I'm not good at sewing and i know nothing about making clothes, so i ended up following the steps in this video to make his blazer.

His glasses are made out of a thin wire i bent in the shape of his frames and some plastic i had lying around. To stick them on i covered the lenses in glue and prayed they wouldn't fall out. And then i colored them in with markers.
