It was a dark and stormy night...
Which was strange for the region, really. The nights out here tended to be rather bright. But the stars were hidden behind a dense mat of--
"--cumulonimbus clouds," Nightmare supplied, him and his fancy vocabulary.
"Yeah... those," Dream mumbled, shuffling a bit from where the pair of them stood at the edge of the orchard, gazing across the prairie and towards the nearby town as the front rolled in. He winced as the wind kicked up, biting at his bones, and a cold raindrop fell from the sky, catching his cheek right below his left eyesocket. Any moment now, it looked like the floodgates would open.
Distantly, lightning flashed, and blue and purple eyes flicked in his direction, watching as Dream dug his fingers into his bandana. Night huffed in a way that descended into a proper chuckle once Dream pouted at him over it.
"Are you seriously about to start shaking in your boots? We ain't even heard thunder yet."
Before Dream had a moment to formulate a snappish reply, the sound caught up to them, and the boy just about jumped--
...And next thing he knew, he found himself all wrapped up in bandaged arms, scarred from falls and mishaps while romping about in the wilderness.
"Bully," Dream muttered, ducking their head down and squeezing Nightmare close as he gave them a firm pat on the shoulder in reassurance.
"Yeah, yeah... let's go find some shelter, oh Dauntless Guardian."
Another crack of thunder shut him up real quick.
