So many young people are disconnected from reality.

Lots of young women want mastectomies and testosterone while still identifying as a lesbian. They don’t understand that for the rest of their lives after medicalization, people could be looking at them and assuming they’re trans, assuming they want to be a man.

They don’t understand that dating, making friends, finding community, and just moving through the world as a masculinized woman isn’t the idealized fantasy that they’ve created in their heads or on their social media. They don’t understand the permanence of their choices and the way it makes people perceive and judge them.

Lots of young women identify as butch and non-binary, as if being gender nonconforming isn’t what being butch is in the first place. As if the way they feel as a “non-binary” person is any different than the feelings of every other GNC woman who came before them.

Genuinely all these kids need is to talk to one GNC woman-identified woman over the age of 30, and it would all click for them.

But they just call us all terfs as if their elders haven’t been through the same exact shit that they’re going through. As if we’re dinosaurs with nothing important to say.

The lesbian community is fractured. We don’t have the multi-generational connections that we need in order for the young women to thrive. And the reason for the fracture is misogyny and trans ideology.
